Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 Adults)
Mike grew up in the Tacoma area. Went to Northern Az. University and taught school for 30 years in Yuma, Az. I grew up in Southern Illinois, moved to Yuma in 1968. Mike and I have 6 grown children and 2 very spoiled island dogs.
Owner purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Owner chose Shelton
We came to Lacey Wa. for vacations every summer from Yuma, Az. July 3rd, 1988 a cousin brought us to Harstine Island to dig clams. As soon as we crossed the bridge I knew this is where I wanted to live. When we both retired in 1995 we began to fill our dream.

The owners were very nice. Very quiet and secluded. Cookies were excellent. We came for peace and quiet to escape and this place was perfect.
A magical place
The drive in to the property was very fun and exciting. We loved the property immediately upon arriving. The cabin was situated perfectly from the main house with a nice view from the living room and from the bedroom.
Judy and Mike were very welcoming. They welcomed us to walk the property to enjoy the views. The cabin was quaint and had everything we needed. We loved how they decorated inside and on the outside of the cabin/property.
Judy and Mike made sure we had enough fire wood for the wood stove to keep us warm. Judy made the most amazing scones and different types of cookies. They were the best scones and cookies i have ever had. I swear she used to be a baker in her past life.
Mike taught us how to harvest oysters and clams. We were lucky to catch the low low tide to be able to harvest them. The clams and oysters were so fresh, and sweet with a hint of salt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We cannot say enough about this property.
From all the home aways we stayed at - this is our most favorite. Judy and Mike were wonderful hosts and we are very grateful to have experienced staying at their property for only a little while.
Perfect Cabin Getaway
Follow Judy's instructions- don't turn at the mailboxes! GPS will get you there but you'll need a truck on the unpaved mile detour :) ... Even though it rained the duration of our 2-day stay, we enjoyed some much needed R&R. We really enjoyed the peace & quiet, covered deck, water views, walks around the property (weather permitting), fireplace and some fun games of chess. .. oh yes, and Judy's SCONES & jam were amazing!
Great fall weekend getaway
Great place to relax with your family and dog. We ate a wonderful dinner of grilled oysters and clams we picked off the beach. Judy leaves cookies and brings scones, jam and juice for breakfast. All around best place to stay.
Quiet and Beautiful
What a lovely cabin. Cozy, remote setting. Beautiful location. Had fun letting our dog roam about the property and chase balls. Quiet place. We built fires in the wood stove at night. Nicely Property owners were available via text when we had a question.
Wonderful relaxing getaway
Even with rain and cool temperatures, we thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and the island. The pumpkin cookies, scones and marmalade were icing on the cake! Thank you Judy for the beautiful weekend away.
You can dig clams to steam and pick oysters to throw on the bar-b-que just steps from the cabin porch. Clam digging classes are free on the spot. We have a huge selection of rubber boots and the clam digging tools for your use.
