Overview

About the property

Condo, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

Morse Mill Condominium is situated on three acres directly across from the main entrance to Smugglers' Notch Resort and Ski Area which offers some of the best and most challenging skiing in the East. We are not part of the Smugglers' Notch Resort complex. We are the closest privately owned condo to the Resort - just across the road. Our condominium is private but close to the ski action with two decks which look out on to the three mountains that make up the ski resort complex.

Cross-country skiing is possible from the door of the condo and the ski slopes are less than a two- minute walk. There are great slopes for children's sledding on the property - sleds provided! We have a rushing brook that cuts through the property and a private pond that children enjoy playing in. There are many water holes in the area to cool off in on a hot summer's day. Daily passes for the Mountainside pools & waterslides may be purchased at Smugglers' Notch Resort during the summer months. Zip Line Canopy Tours are available year round at the Resort and are available to non-guests. This is the first Zip Line in Vermont.

The condominium is approximately 1100 sq. feet. It has an open living room/dining room and fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom has twins beds with ensuite bathroom; second bedroom a queen size bed; third bedroom a double bed. A fold-down bed is available for an extra person. There is a second bathroom with toilet and shower.

The condominium is tastefully and comfortably furnished with a wood-burning Vermont Castings fireplace (firewood provided). We provide bird feed to stock the three feeders on the deck, which attract a wide variety of wild birds. There is a rushing mountain brook that cuts through the property and a pond that attracts wild ducks and other water birds. In the summer, we are a five-minute drive from Stowe, but a 45-minute drive in winter due to the fact that Smugglers' Notch Pass is closed to traffic.

About The Owner

We live in Montreal and Morse Mill Condo is our vacation home.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1999

Why The Owner chose Stowe Area

Our condo has a fantastic location - across the road from one of the best ski areas in the East. Our condo is situated on 3 acres of private property. Its location affords a peaceful, relaxing environment yet we are close (less than a 2 minute walk) to the action at Smugglers' Notch Resort for skiing, restaurants, waterslide in the summer, etc.

What makes this condo unique

Location is the closest to the Resort of all privately owned rentals in the area. Our condo appears on Smugglers' Notch's area ski map.

Our guests may purchase a DAYCATION ticket at Smugglers' Notch Resort and enjoy all their great activities, e.g. swimming pools, water slides, FunZone for children, mini golf, disc golf, etc. See www.smuggs.com/daycation for pricing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a quick note to thank you for letting us stay at your great condo. It was everything we'd hoped for - convenient to Smugglers but just far enough away so you felt a little removed from it all.

We would definitely stay at Morse Mill again if we return to Smugglers and would recommend it to friends.

Spacious, comfortable

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice-sized condo with a good set up: comfy sectional couch, big TV with cable, amazing wood stove. It's outdated for sure and the huge master bedroom (with bath) has twin beds in it. So all the kids had huge beds and we were in these tiny twins. It was pretty funny. We had never been to Smuggs before so being located across the street from the mountain felt removed from the action but that is clear on the website. It is close enough and you can walk, but only to the little mountain not the big mountain which wasn't great for us. You can take the beginner lift over to Madonna/Sterling but it's crowded and takes forever . We ended up driving. But the condo is near the base with all of the shops and restaurants, so that's good. For the size of the space and the number of bedrooms it's a good deal for the money.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Amy for taking the time to write a nice review. The Resort runs a free shuttle that stops at the end of our driveway every 10 minutes or so that takes skiers and their equipment the 3-5 minute drive up to Sterling/Madonna if you wish to start your ski day there. This information is in our Welcome package in the condo. Best regards, Cheryl

SuperBowl Weekenders, 2012

  • 5 of 5

Seven adults from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Florida met at Morse Mill for SuperBowl weekend for some terrific skiing and snowboarding. Smuggs' three mountains were amazing, especially the natural snow in the glades on Madonna and Sterling. Morse Mill was just a few steps away from the main lodge of Morse Mountain, right across the street. We cooked for the whole long weekend with plenty of pots and dishes, while enjoying the woodstove with ready to go kindling and logs. The living space was large for our big group, plenty of room to watch the new tv for the football game. Bluejays and winter sparrows and chickadees visited the deck all day for our viewing, as we gazed at Madonna through the sliding glass doors.

Great location, very clean, love the wood stove!

  • 5 of 5

We were very, very happy with our stay here. You can't beat the location. Very clean, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. We loved the wood stove in the family room. 5 minutes after we walked in, the owner called to see if everything was going OK for us. We would stay here again, no question. Many thanks to Cheryl and Norm.

Thank you Cheryl and Norm...

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Cheryl and Norman for allowing me and my friends to stay at your condo. I stayed at the Morse Mill condo from 1/14/10 - 1/17/10 with my husband and 4 friends (total of 6 adults). The condo is very spacious and fit all of us comfortably. The condo is clean and very welcoming. It has a great view of the mountain and a fire stove that kept everyone warm. The condo is in an excelent location - only a 5 minute walk from Smuggler's Notch resort. We snowboarded at Smuggler's Notch for two days. We were worried that the mountain would not have a lot of good trails but we were wrong. Smuggler's Notch is a great mountain for both beginner and advanced boarders/skiers. It is also not as expensive as other mountains like Stowe. We loved that we could walk and carry our boards to and from the mountain. We had an amazing trip. We hope to return next season!
