House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.

Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.

We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.

Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.

Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition cable TV and free local and (domestic) long distance phone calls, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.

This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.

A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!

About the Owner

I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. In the last couple of years I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.

Excellent experience! Clean and cozy! Tons of movie watching titles and beautiful views of the forest! On the last day of our stay my son and I saw a bear and her cub. It was incredible!

Tranquil, cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and myself thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Chris' cabin. It is secluded, tranquil, and peaceful, yet just a quick drive to town. It reminded me of my childhood days in cabins with my family. The cabin is well stocked with movies and we simply enjoyed sitting out on the deck as much as we could. Chris has detailed information about everything in the cabin, and we also knew we could call him if needed. Would definitely come back!

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

There are so many complimentary things to say about our stay. Chris provides every detail about getting there, staying there, things to do, etc. His welcome book is the only reason we found the Snowflake trail, a hidden gem. The village is a 15 minute walk away. The cabin is comfortable, nice and cool even when it's 90 outside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this cabin. It was a corner house, so we could over look a few trees and a beautiful meadow. We would wake up in the morning at just take a peak outside and feel like we were camping in the woods, but with a cabin, that had everything we needed. All of the appliances for a in home meal were included, and the fast WiFi, helped with streaming music, or just take a quick update on work emails. There was enough room for all of us (group of 6) with a pullout sofa leftover. A few woodland creatures came to visit but they kept their distance and were friendly. We went to the Pine Mountain Recreational Center and the owners provided guest passes, maps, and a review on favorite and exciting hiking trails. This was the perfect place for a getaway.

Perfect little cabin.

  • 5 of 5

This was a great little cabin loaded with everything we needed for a quick mountain getaway. Chris did everything possible to ensure our trip went well and even refunded full deposit which sometimes is unlikely. We will definitely look forward to another trip for some cozy fireplace and snow fun. Thanks again Chris.

Cute, Cozy, and Comfy!

  • 5 of 5

Chris was such a great and helpful host. All of the directions and suggestions were so thorough. Especially the visitors guide. There was absolutely nothing that we had questions on or even a "hey I wonder if" that wasn't in the guide. From trails to eateries to step by step directions for everything in the cabin. The deck was perfect because we were able to sit and Bar-b-que and enjoy the scenery while the kiddos and dogs played down by the meadow. We fished at three different places (which were 5, 10, and 20 minutes from the cabin), hiked, and just adventured. The cabin itself was not fancy, but if you're like us, fancy is not what we look for when renting a cabin. We prefer the homey, camping kinda feel. We loved it!

Location

From the Owner

My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.

Amenities

From the Owner

It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, Brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.
