The house from hell
The house was disgusting. The second master bedroom is actually in the basement with a dehumidifier running 24/7 and while we were there, the handyman came, and the filter was completely clogged. The basement smelled of mold or mildew. It needs to be tested. The rest of the house was filthy. The furniture was like somebody raided a thrift store and unless you’re agile, you will never get into the bathtub shower in the one bathroom that you’re able to use because there is a huge washer and dryer blocking your ability to enter. The owners agreed to return $1000 to me which they did all but $115 and expect me to chase them for the $115 and are waiting till the last day when I cannot submit a review and then not reimburse me The gentleman that rented the house before me had the same complaints and the owner claimed his review was not true believe his review and believe this review do not stay in this house. I have pictures and a list of all the issues. My husband who is ill, his illness was further exacerbated by the staying in this house VRBO must not look at these houses, nor do they make sure that they’ve cleaned or not My last experience withVRBo on Amelia island was fabulous. I am so shocked by this nightmare.

Nice little home in the mountains
We were able to get in and use the keypad lock with no issues, and how to use the alarm system was well documented. The deck is awesome. Covered deck with a hammock, plenty of seating and tables, and a gas firepit. It's a great social space or place to relax in the fresh air. I failed to realize that there's no AC in the home, but that's my own fault. We were staying during peak summertime, so the house was quite warm, even with the windows open at night and fans going to try to keep cool. The kitchen is open to the living room, which has comfortable couches and an additional eating area/card table. All instructions for using the on-site amenities were clear. The twin bedroom was quite small with no closet, but it was fine for sleeping and changing. We shared the master closet for the things we needed to hang. The master bedroom and downstairs bedroom had plenty of space. The pull out sofa had some rust stains, and despite that there were dehumidifiers running, it was somewhat humid inside. The owners were proactive in responding to community alerts and letting us know what was going on (there was some air in the community water pipes, no big deal). Overall it was a great little house to stay in.

We fell in love with this house as a place we can come with our family members during all seasons. Even our dog loves hiking around the lake or along the river. We have enjoyed eating fresh caught trout, and sitting out by the firepit in the evenings.

Why they chose this property

There is so much to do within Linville Land Harbor - hiking, fishing, boating, golf, tennis, to name a few. At the recreation center there is a beautiful pool and several activities and game rooms. During the late spring - fall there are concerts and parties near the lake. You can hang out at the pool or on the lakeside beach.
Banner Elk is about 15 minutes away, with great skiing in the winter and hiking in the spring-fall. There are several fun festivals at different times of year. Boone is about 30 minutes away for skiing, concerts, shopping, and wonderful restaurants. In the winter, there is tubing in Jonas Ridge (about 10 minutes away), and you should drive the Blue Ridge Parkway during leaf season (5 minutes away).
