I booked this property in March, a month before my visit—which was actually scheduled for April2-9, but for whatever reason it states April-1-8. As you’ll see in my review that follows, the owner nor VRBO are detail-oriented.
On my check-in date of April 2, I contacted the owner to find out how to check-in since I received no details about the check-in procedure at that point. She suggested I contact a local management company that she sub-contracted for my booking. To my surprise, the local management company did not have my reservation. I called the owner back to inform her that she needed to find another place for me to stay but told me that I was out of luck “because it’s a busy time of year and someone else had also booked the same property.” Interesting that the owner remembered my name, perhaps due to the unique nature of it.
Anyway, after getting nowhere with the owner who suggested that I drive home after driving five hours to Destin, I contacted VRBO. VRBO gave me an accommodation for three nights in a hotel that was incomparable to my original booking, but I thought it was temporary since the VRBO agent told me I would hear from their rebooking team in 24 hours. Well, I never did, so I recontacted VRBO. I contacted VRBO everyday during my temporary accommodation because I never heard from the rebooking team to rebook the remaining days of my vacation. VRBO gave me another night in a temporary accommodation because I would then hear back from the rebooking team. At this point I requested that my stay be extended for the duration of my original booking but the representative denied my request. I was told a supervisor would call me back to handle my request but a supervisor nor the mythical rebooking team ever called back.
Upon checkout from my temporary accommodation on April 6, I still had not heard from the rebooking team that I was told would contact me from when my original reservation was broken by the owner. I rebooked on my own and made my move to a third accommodation during my vacation. I finally heard from the rebooking team that day, but there was no need for their service after I rebooked something on my own. This was a horrible experience.
