Don't do it!

  • 1 of 5

Have had great experiences in Nosara for 7 yrs. This was a huge mistake!

The good:

Juice bar next door

Nice cleaning people

Kitchen, but fridge door shelves missing. A hassle if you buy lots of groceries.

Bathroom setup but water pressure poor. Tried to fix clogged shower head - minimal improvement.

Be aware the walk from the beach is a hilly workout. Need to be in good shape.

Overall Nosara is getting touristy & expensive but it's still a pretty good surf town.

The bad:

There is construction all over Nosara. Major construction RIGHT NEXT DOOR. 7 days a week. It starts at 6:20 am goes to 5 pm. They were grinding steel ALL day. According to other reviews,

which I didn't see prior to renting, this has been going on for 2 years! We were blindsided - No heads up from rental agent - we would have gladly upgraded to a quieter place.

The house is literally 10ft from the road - tons of traffic. Thank god it had recently been coated with molasses or we would have been blown out by the dust. We're not rookies - dust is part of dry season - but this was ridiculous.

The noise/dust was so bad we couldn't use the pool, porch, hammock or open the windows. Forget a nap, coffee outside or working on a computer in between surf/yoga sessions. We ended up at local hotel pools to get away from the constant noise.

Sheets are really stained - including blood. Pillows old. Pretty gross.

Sewer smell coming from the shower. Had to put a cover over the drain. They did send a maintenance person to resolve - semi successful. Standing water in shower - not pitched right towards the drain. Not the end of the world but on top of everything else...

AC units – loud – only worked part time

Pool furniture broken & unusable. Agent’s response - owners didn't want to make the shared investment to replace. Apparently it's been like this for a year. Lame.

Didn’t get grill until last 3 days

Rental agent was responsive upon initial inquiry. Did return AC fee because of issues. I'll give her that. That said she did not respond to emails regarding other issues. If I hadn't run into her in town not sure I would have heard from her. She even became pretty aggressive in our dealings, including check out which she insisted was 9:30. Have the texts from her which say 9. Wasn't a big deal - just don't need attitude. After asking around locals weren't surprised.
