Key Lime Condo in HOT Coral House. Less than 1 block to the beach --- Tybee Island's wide white-sand beach. Large porch. Privacy fence.

What is unique about Tybee Island?

* Barrier island due east of historic Savannah .

* Just 3-mile diameter, and half that is salt marsh

* Birthplace and home of a C-list actor; chosen home of an A-list actor; nesting home of loggerhead sea turtles.

* Great dolphin viewing --- virtually guaranteed on the north end of the island. Dolphin boat tours are always available, but sitting on the north beach is just as effective. We once watched a band of dolphins frolicking with a delighted kayaker.

* Impressive pier that extends way, way out into the water. Each end has a nice covered pavilion.

WHAT A SWEET DEAL

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd visit to Tybee Island & have not been here in 17 years. Glad to get this condo for such a nice rate. So convienent to all locations. The owner has a fantastic deal lined up for you to rent bicycles (no hidden charges!) The owner is very nice and this place supplies everything you need to stay. AND I MEAN EVERYTHING.The laundry facilities are free which was great as my guys fished everyday- P-U!

We own two vacation rental homes and find this one to be fantastic-especially the pet friendly part- quiet & secluded-yet right near the hub of everything and a nice find for the price. The two bad reviews are typical for this type of business. The motivation for the review is usually to get free or discounted lodging...so sad!

Across the street is the best food around the Sundae Cafe. Find fantastic eating on your internet via YELP! STAY AWAY from the big named restaurants...there are lots of hidden gems here on the island to eat! Or cook your own food here- they have a grill and a fully stocked kitchen. The beach is sooooo close! I just love it here. The living room and dining room kitchen are small but who is hanging out here all day?? Plenty of room outside in courtyard, and upper deck and the bathroom and bedrooms are really roomy. This reminds me of the 80's in Key West before corporate America bought everything out and took out the ambiance!!! We will be back!! I hope someday to spend a month here-Loved it!

We'll be back

  • 4 of 5

The Key Lime condo worked out great for us -- the location, the price, and the free amenities (wi-fi, laundry, parking, etc.) couldn't be beat. The rustic charm of an old beach bungalow brought me back to my San Diego State days, but if you're not agile and healthy Key Lime can prove to be a challenge, especially the narrow winding staircase that connects to the loft and the double-step up to the bathroom.

Having just one bathroom is challenging if you are traveling as more than a couple (we had 5), but it is roomy, clean, and the shower is powerful. One tiny suggestion: there should be at least one other mirror in the unit besides the bathroom mirror. The extra towels were a big plus, as were the beach chairs and beach toys. (However, we too did not find the wagon. Oh well.)

We hope we weren't too loud, but since we rarely heard the other occupants at the Coral House, maybe the quiet is part of the charm. In fact the loudest neighbors were the dang frogs in the pond outside. (We made the mistake on the first night of thinking we had set off an alarm!) A frogs for turtles trade might be just what the doctor ordered.

All in all, we played hard all day and slept well at night. It's the Tybee way, right? Thanks for making the reservation, the check-in and check-out easy, and for all the quick responses to my inquiries. It was pleasure to stay at Key Lime Condo.

Misleading

  • 2 of 5

On a positive note, the property's location is great in proximity of the beach. However, the property is dated and in much need of painting. As far as the exterior, the grounds were trashy and the furnishing were dirty. The furniture look as if it was jammed into the rooms without a thought of how one is to move about the space. There is a old model television (perhaps 1980's) in the main bedroom, in which I was told was supposed to have changed out with a flat screen TV. It did not even work. The owner acted as if he didn't know of the "old" television and the fact his handyman did not change out the televisions. The house was not as clean as it should have been considering the guests are paying to have it clean. The pictures of the property tell a better story than that you see with your eyes. Even the other guests at the Corral House were mislead. I am disappointed especially of the price I paid to stay those two days.

Owner's Response: The exterior of Coral House was freshly painted in June. The interior is repainted every year during the off-season. The grass is mowed weekly by a lawn care service which also prunes the shrubs and jasmine vines. When guests are present, beach toys and beach chairs will sometimes get scattered about. Housekeeping puts them back in place between guests. The living room has a nice wall-mount TV. The king bedroom has a new flat-screen TV. No old-style ones are present anywhere in the house. When I checked the furnishings, they were all clean. The leather couch was spotless; the bed linens were clean. A chest in a bedroom was old but clean and in good condition. All homeowners have to include cleaning cost in the price they charge whether it's listed separately or built into a weekly charge. Our cleaning fee is probably at the bottom of the cleaning scale on Tybee.

Cute apartment. Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We only stayed one night, but loved the "Key Lime" apartment. It was cute and spacious, and decorated with bright colors and a beachy theme. The back outdoor area was nicely shaded, so it was great for relaxing after a hot day at the beach. Although, I will mention that the frogs in the frog pond get rowdy at night. It's amusing at first, but becomes irritating quickly because they're so loud that you can't even have a conversation. Other than that, everything was fantastic! We would definitely come again.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay! The beach is about a 5 or 10 minute walk. My dog absolutely loved sniffing around and they even had a toy there, which was great because we forgot to bring her one. We didn't use any of the kitchen appliances except the fridge, but it was nice to know they were all there should we need to. It was beautiful at night with the lights around the trees. It's across the street from the Sugar Shack which has great ice cream. It's very centrally located so that makes it easy to get to downtown Tybee as well as Savannah. The only thing was that we never did find the red wagon that he mentioned we were allowed to use to take our stuff to the beach. My guess is that one of the other guests might have been using it, but I don't know. You can hear the other people in the house sometimes, but they stayed quiet at night, so it was all good. The shower knob is backwards though. You have to turn the knob to cold to get hot water. I was halfway through my freezing shower before I finally tried that. Haha But I was just happy it worked. Not really complaining. All in all, if we ever come back to Tybee, we will definitely be seeing if this place is available!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Savannah at 25 Miles Car: recommended

Tybee Island is a small barrier island with several miles of wide white sand beaches, nesting ground of sea turtles. Tidal marshes. Spanish moss. Sea shells. Lighthouse. Shrimp boats. Fresh seafood. Watch sunrises and sunsets from porch swings on the beach. No high-rises (35 ft building height limit). North end of the island is quiet and serene. Most of the beach goers are on the south end at the long pier and pavilion where you find the classic beach shopping --- T-shirts, beach towels, gifts, umbrella drinks.
