About this property

Amazing Snorkeling and Swimming 200 Feet from the Back Door

Beautiful Costa Maya at your doorstep! This 5000 sq ft sprawling house sits on 48 meters of one of Mexico's most beautiful beaches "Coconut Beach" located south of Cancun and one and one-half hours from the Belize border.
Beachfront: The Casa sits 100' from the Caribbean's warm water. With unobstructed views of white sand from the house to the beach. Casa Jamila has a sandy beach that is minutes from great snorkeling. The screened beachside porch is 1200 square feet of additional living space. The Casa is fully furnished with everything you want or need for entertainment and entertaining!

With Jungle in the rear and on both sides, Casa Jamila is quiet and secluded (yet close enough to Mayan Beach Garden if you want to stroll down the beach for dinner!) and 30 minutes by car to the center of Mahahual with its restaurants and bars.

A word about the beach at Casa Jamila. . . it is perfect. People ask about a swimming pool, but who needs a pool when the tide pools in front of the house have soft silky sand - perfect for newbie snorkelers, non-swimmers, and anyone just wanting to take a dip - with ease of access from the small dock. Or if you prefer, 2 kayaks are also available for quiet time on the water and a beach volleyball court for fun with friends.

Each bedroom has AC and there are fans throughout the house. There is also internet wifi. It is fully furnished with a well equipped kitchen and 110 electricity current.

Disappointing Conditions at Property
We were not greeted by the host/owner upon our arrival as she stated would happen. We had to find everything and figure it out on our own. We did not see the host/owner until midday of our second day. These amenities were listed on VRBO and were not available during our stay: hot tub, mini fridges in bedrooms, clean potable water dispenser as shown in VRBO pictures, working door ice dispenser and water dispenser. Problems we discovered: front gate lock didn't work properly; one kayak that leaked and one with a broken handle; shared bathroom toilet was broken - a big deal when the hallway to the other bathrooms flooded from roof leaks; kitchen sink plumbing leaking into cabinet; broken master bathroom sink; light bulbs burned out; light fixture with a short; exposed electrical wires on the interior and exterior of house; wet, sandy, and moldy snorkel/wet gear stuffed in tubs; wet towels, sheets, and laundry stuffed in tubs we needed to use for the leaking roof; hot water did not work consistently; and water leaks. Water leaks from were in the hallway to the master bedroom and two bathrooms, the living room, kitchen, the main entrance, the hallway to the guest bedrooms and running down multiple walls. We had to place multiple tubs, towels, rugs, and floor mats on the floor to try to contain the water. We had to mop the floors multiple times - we took pictures and videos. After we checked out the host, Amy kept sending us harassing text messages regarding our property feedback.

Great location with great property owner. You feel like you are on a deserted island. However you must check ahead for weather and Sargasso. A heavy storm knocked out our electricity. It could put a damper on your vacation so it is important it

Private ocean get-away with snorkeling
If you seek peace, tranquility and privacy in your vacations, this spacious, & beautiful Spanish style home is for you. Coral sand, coconut palms and the ocean are your back yard. Beautiful foliage adorns the front as well. My party of 3 couples, were able to comfortably relax, cook and mingle in paradise. Amy, or host, is a lovely person, was very accommodating, helped us prepare for our stay and showed us some snorkeling right off our playa. We saw spotted eagle rays, eels, healthy corals and many fish right there! If you need a place to eat, the Mayan Garden Resturant is just a quick walk up the beach. A small place with authentic local food hit the spot when we did not want to cook. The fresh mango margaritas and ceviche were delicious! Being close to Mahahual enabled us to book a snorkel tour to Banco Chinchorro, a pristine atoll reef with the most amazing underwater life I've ever seen! We also took a day trip to Bacalar, Lagoon of 7 Colors, which is a fun little town for food and shopping with amazing lagoons and canals. This house is just enough out of the way but with access to explore. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back again!

Just selling fans and an extra noise fan in the room. We stay there 4 days unfortunately my dad that is 72 years old sleep outside in the porch, I’m so disappointed with this reservation, I almost cry, we were 8 people In the house and nobody can sleep because the hotness in the house. Amazing house on the beach
Great house if you love be on the beach and wilderness. Otto the house keeper is the best, he is very attentive to your questions and needs. The only downsize was the Sargasso, we were expecting a blue turquoise ocean and it was yellowish/ brownish. Almost impossible to get in. But we understand that anybody can control that. In order to get there keep in mind that the house's name is Jamile. We didn't get that in instructions to get there and it was a challenge to find the house. We found it asking for Otto. There is ZERO signal, no phones, no internet no nothing until you get to the house and use the Wifi keep that in mind so you have all the information you need before getting out of the main road. We enjoy the house and have a blast even with Sargasso problem. We loved it and will like to come back in a different time when there is no Sargasso.
