It’s not just the historic buildings that pack a punch in Anderson; it’s the people living here who have helped it gain the nickname “The Friendliest Town in America”. In fact, it even won the All-America City Award in 2010 for its civic-minded citizens.

And it isn’t just individual buildings that make their way onto the National Historic Register – whole districts of Anderson are full of architectural heritage. Stroll around Anderson College Historic District or Anderson Downtown Historic District, amongst others, and be awed.

Even the electricity in Anderson is historic; thanks to the construction of a hydroelectric dam nearby, it was one of the first towns in Southeast with electricity – hence its other nickname, “The Electric City”.

Convenient home for an Anderson visit
My family stayed in this home for a wedding in Anderson. The home is extremely convenient to downtown Anderson, being just a 3 minute drive to the center of town. It is walkable, but I don't recommend walking. The hostess was very accommodating, she responded quickly to a request prior to arriving, left out snacks and water bottles and a well-stocked coffee station. The house was very clean and the bed linens were high quality.

Incredibly unprofessional property manager
Prior to even checking in we inquired as to making arrangements for a delivery to be made prior to arrival. Property manager was very rude, immature and pushy. Upon arrival we were faced with nightly interruptions, drunken and/or drug induced communications, harassing phone calls, messages. Two nights she actually tried to enter the premises at midnight but was stopped by the chain on the door. Listing did not properly notice tenants that she actually lived “in” the house in a side entrance to a room off the dining room. Constant smoke and her dog barking all hours. She looked homeless and like a drug addict. The only reason we didn’t move night two is she already had all our money for the entire month and there was no other properties available near the courthouse for our convenience. I would not recommend this property only because of the property manager. You will not have a moments peace and you will be harassed the entire time. And I know as soon as she sees this review she will immediately speak of our clients parking in the driveway and along the public street. The description did plainly state only 4 cars in the driveway which we quickly corrected. But the description also stated the street was public and could be used. But each night she harassed us staring the cars parked on the public street parking was “in front of the mean neighborhood’s house” and we “have to move immediately.” She’s literally an addict who will harass you the entire time. It’s a shame.

Hidden gem
This house in Anderson is a hidden gem! It's a beautiful and spacious house, we loved having our morning coffee out on the veranda. The kitchen is fully equipped and there were lots of goodies for us. Would definitely go back there!
