About this property

Family-friendly waterfront cabin with great views & canoes/kayaks. Pets welcome!

We are thrilled to share our three bedroom, two bathroom waterfront cabin with friends old and new in this magical location on the banks of the majestic Shenandoah River, close to Shenandoah National Park. We offer free canoes and kayaks, two traditional smoker grills, an outstanding firepit and a screened in porch that is the envy of all our neighbors.

The property is perfect for a multigenerational vacation or for sharing the slow and peaceful life in the Shenandoah Valley with friends and family - furry or otherwise. EVERYTHING is provided, except food and ice. Enjoy grilling, fishing, tubing, and making S’mores around the firepit, or simply take in the view of the forest and river from our elevated deck and screened in porch. We provide the charcoal, kindling and starter. Alternatively, visit Luray Caverns, George Washington National Forest, Thornton Gap, Mary's Rock, Lake Arrowhead, or make a short detour to scenic Skyline Drive.

Canoes, kayaks and life vests are available on site for your use, for free. The lot is very flat and there is easy access to the river for the kayaks and canoes. Paddle up river and back down from the property, or head over to Shenandoah Outfitters 5 minutes away and get a river ride with the Pros.

Our cabin is equipped with central A/C and heating, washer, dryer, dishwasher, Keurig - even an electric can opener! Linens, towels, and all kitchenware are provided. We also provide free firewood and charcoal for the firepit and two charcoal grills.

This is a rural cabin so the Wifi is not quite as fast as you might be accustomed to, but we do make it available to our guests for free. Cell phone service is also spotty, depending on which carrier you have, but the Wifi is usually fast enough for messages and calls. There is also a landline you can use to dial in to virtual meetings.

The town of Luray, VA and all its associated amenities is only 12 miles, so if fast internet is required at any point during your trip you can head over to any one of the trendy establishments in Luray (Broad Porch Coffee is my favorite) and connect there.

Please note that you will need to climb lots of stairs to get into and out of the property. It's on a raised foundation as it was originally built on the river's flood zone.

We had a great time!
The home is very nice and the view of the river is lovely. The cleaning lady was wonderful and she made sure we had enough linens.

What a Relaxing and peaceful home!
We had our annual girls trip of mostly 50+ fun loving ladies here the first week of September 2023. The home was clean, had all the amenities we needed and the views were spectacular! The owner was hands down the best I've dealt with yet on quick communication and even stopped by at one point to address a previous concern. Enjoyed talking with him. As previously said, the views are spectacular and although we didn't get in the water, we so enjoyed lazy breakfasts on the screened in porch while watching others fish, paddle or tube in it. We did have some issues with the unusual locks to the outside porches and one of the door handle pieces kept falling off but he assured us that was on the to do list for renovations. Some minor scratches on the walls were also on his list. There were some cobwebs here and there on the porch but that's most likely from the many mature trees shading the property and providing an inviting home. I deal with the same on a daily basis on my shaded porch. FYI, double check GPS directions before starting off on exploring the area. We had a couple instances of Ggle maps taking us on some treacherous back roads instead of easier paths that affected some of our group with vertigo and height issues. Would 100% stay again in the future! Thanks again for some wonderful memories!

Great time
Enjoyed the house. It was clean and roomy. Definitely recommend and would stay again. Only downside was it could of had more linens for 6 people. We had to wash towels every other day.

Stay in Shenandoa valley
Beautiful location and outstanding accommodations. Need to work out the entry process as the keypad only works the deadbolt and not the doorknob which was also locked.

I am a dad, amateur cook, dog lover and avid traveler. I'm a fan of water sports and fishing. I share the cabin with my wife, tween son and 15 lb. Chiweenie Ollie.

We live in Northern Virginia and get down to the cabin every other week for pleasure and at least once a week to restock and inspect.

Please check out our mountain property, The Lily Lodge, about 45 miles away at the beautiful Massanutten Resort: https://www.vrbo.com/pxe/feed/321.2758368.3330268

Why they chose this property

My wife and I both love the water and had been looking for a waterfront vacation home for two years - mostly in the wrong places! This spring, our neighbor bought a house down river on the Shenandoah, which turned us on to the Shenandoah Valley. The minute we set foot in the back (front?) yard of our cabin we knew it was the one.

There is something about the little brook that runs through the property, the fire pit, geese dancing in the river and the friendly kayakers waving as they float on by that really caught our attention.

What makes this property unique

Not only is the actual lot beautiful, the location is really unbeatable. It feels remote and you're surrounded by nature, but it's close enough to amenities that a 15 minute ride can have you sipping wine at the Valley Cork in Luray, a 30 minute drive puts you at Muse Vineyards in Woodstock. In 40 minutes you're in Harrisonburg - a vibrant college town of 50k people, or in Washington, VA - home of the famous Inn.

The lot itself is flat and reasonably private. It's wide enough that while you can see the neighbors to your left while sitting in the yard, they are far enough away as to not be intrusive. On the right the property is separated from the other neighbors by shrubbery and hedges, so you won't even notice they're there.
