Great place for a family vacation
We booked a 2 bedroom suite for a last minute family vacation here at The Mountain Run at Boyne by Bluegreen Vacations in July and overall, we were very pleased with our stay. We were torn between booking here and another spot in a totally different area of Michigan, and ultimately we chose this place bc of the amenities as well as its close proximity to numerous beaches. We're a family of 4 and this place was perfect for us. Having a full kitchen and a washer & dryer was a game changer and will now be a requirement for us anytime we vacation anywhere. Our biggest issue with this place was the cleanliness. The carpet was probably the grossest thing in our suite. We walked around barefoot and the bottoms of our feet literally turned black from it probably never being professionally cleaned at any point, and the bathrooms, particularly the tubs, were kind of dingey as well. But even with that being said, we were still very happy with the suite itself and all the amenities offered that we would probably stay here again if there was another opportunity. The pool is warm and perfect for little kids with the super shallow end that gradually gets deeper. The hot tub was nice and relaxing too. They have a good size playground for the kiddos and they also have gas firepits and grills with tables and chairs around the property. The restaurants at the Boyne Mountain resort are crazy expensive but luckily Boyne City was about 10 minutes away and is a cute little town on Lake Charlevoix with some good restaurants that are much more affordable and also has a couple places to get ice cream.
Bluegreen Vacations is a timeshare company, and upon checking in they offered us 3 free tickets to Avalanche Bay and a free 7 night stay at any of their other resorts if we attended a 2 hour presentation at some point while we were there. We decided why not and booked the morning one the next day as it was going to be a cold and dreary day and the Waterpark would be a great way to spend the day. It ended up being 3 hours and would have been longer if we didn't get them to cut to the chase on the prices of becoming an owner. The sales people are very pushy so be prepared. While its a nice place to stay with lots of other resorts too, it was just way too expensive overall to sign up. But the Waterpark passes, which would have cost us about $150.00 were worth it and I guess we'll see in the coming year what the free stay entails and how hard it will be to get it booked.
