Somewhere on the Nicoya Peninsula there is a tiny surf town where rock stars, supermodels and pro surfers come to play. This is a place where the sun shines a little brighter, friends laugh a little harder and life is a lot less serious.
This brilliant place is called Santa Teresa and it’s just far enough out of the way to keep the crowds out but close enough to paradise that it’s worth going an extra mile for.
We built a very special hilltop house here to entertain our friends and family. This is a very private place, just a kilometer up the hill from spectacular beaches, surf spots, bars and restaurants but guarded by a gatehouse and hidden by the dense rain forest that surrounds it.
Of course we share this space with the resident monkeys, parrots, toucans and all of our other beloved forest friends. Sometimes if we’re lucky, we get to watch the whales swim by in the turquoise ocean below with our morning coffee. What a life!
Whales and Dolphins: While not everyone likes to go fishing, it's worthwhile at least taking a boat tour of Cabo Blanco just south of Santa Teresa to view the migrating whales, dolphins, manta rays, turtles and a wide array of stunning sea life.
I have just returned from La Luxuria and must say it was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. (with the exception of having to leave!) The villa is even more lovely than the pictures, the staff is second to none, the owner was so helpful I have no words. If you would like to feel like royalty on your vacation then this is the place to go. Also very reasonable by comparison to other vacation homes.Last but not least I think it would be suitable for almost any age. thankyou so much la luxuria for my wonderful experience!!!!!
I was hesitant to believe all the 5 star ratings, but after staying here for a week if 6 stars was an option it would deserve it! Everything was perfect - in fact some days we never left the property. It far exceeded our expectations. The kitchen is nicely furnished with everything you need, the villa and grounds are immaculate and the staff was amazing. The views, wildlife & pool made the week go by way to quickly. Santa Teresa is a very safe area with very friendly people and amazing restaurants. (The roads are very rough and I suggest renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle). I could write an entire novel about how great this trip was, but suffice to say we booked La Luxuria for next year as soon as we got home.
We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay, the house, the area, the owner and the friendly staff, including a concierge who can help arrange activities and recommend restaurants, a housekeeper and groundskeeper and night guard. The house was even better than the pictures! It has a nice layout, which is perfect for multiple families or couples since each bedroom has a bathroom and are separate from each other, offering lots of privacy. The pool is awesome, and the view is incredible and there many different places to lounge and relax. We stayed with our 9-mo old son, and the outdoor patio was the perfect place for him to play in the shade. It's also a quick drive to many restaurants, stores and beaches. Santa Teresa is a great, laid-back area perfect for families. You could walk down the hill to the beach/restaurants, but trekking back up the steep hill to the house is a tough workout -- especially when it is very hot. The owner was also so nice, accommodating and understanding when we made a few last-minute changes to our reservation -- arriving a day early and adding additional guests for part of our visit.
Thank you for an incredible vacation! We will definitely be back!
So great! Everything about the whole experience was just so great! The owners were wonderful and the place blew me and my fiance away! The view is the best you will find on the whole coast I kid you not! my only complaint is that it isn't mine. Book your stay now you it will change your life!
This is what you see in the movies coupled with the fact that it is really relaxing also! Do everything you can to stay here you will not regret it! Honestly it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. The view, the place, the pool, the proximity to everything (surf, restaurants, groceries, etc). I will return!
Having this villa welcome us at the end of a long journey into Costa Rica was a delight for everyone in our family. We loved the breathtaking views of the shore (check out the wave conditions before hitting the beach). It is tucked privately high above the dusty streets of town - incredible stargazing after sunset. Minutes away from the best surfing in the country -- we got to experience the local surf community yet get up and away from the noise and bustle. The incredible indoor/outdoor pool let us keep an eye on the kids at all times and have the option to swim in the shade when the sun is high in the sky. Comfortably and stylishly decorated - lots of spots for everyone to lounge out of the heat; definitely enough space for everyone to be comfortable and have privacy. Clean and safe -- all the staff were helpful and warm and easy to approach if we needed anything. The grounds were immaculate and filled with delights like a starfruit tree, vine arbour, countless hibiscus flowers. The owners directed us to excellent restaurants (Zula, Kika) and gave terrific suggestions for family-friendly activities (like nearby wildlife rescue centre Rainsong). It's not easy to please kids and parents both but we all came away from here relaxed and happy. It was hard to leave -- we'd recommend it to all.
