About David Klett
We fell in love with Lake Lure the first time we saw it in 1984, and returned three weeks later and purchased a small cottage on the lake for weekend and summer vacation use. In preparation for retirement at the lake in 2006, we added a major second story addition to the original small cabin and built Five Oaks Cottage, a guest-house for additional space for family and friends and for a vacation rental when we are not using it. We are delighted to be able to share this beautiful and special place with others and we enjoy meeting the many wonderful folks who find us through VRBO and become our guests at Five Oaks.

Lake Lure Cottage
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely cottage. It was perfect!
Wonderful visit - even in the rain.
Perfect visit, perfect cottage. Cozy and warm, everything we needed in the clean kitchen (the other rooms were spotless as well). Nice table for eating, comfortable bed, clean sheets, plenty of storage space for your belongings. And on top of all this, a beautiful view of the lake and close to all local restaurants and attractions.
Very Pleasant stay.
We stayed four nights at the cabin and is was very nice. There was a short walk to a very nice boathouse platform overlooking the lake with views of Chimney Rock and sunsets.
We had a great time in Lake Lure for the weekend. The place is great and has everything you need. Fires by the water at the boat house were really fun.
Cozy & Quiet
Comfortable cottage for two. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking & eating in. Living area was laid out well for watching TV (plenty of channels on Direct TV). My husband enjoyed fishing from the dock. Definite plus is the quiet neighborhood - perfect for morning coffee on the deck or dock while watching the lake. Our only negative is the number of steps from the cottage down to the lake. It is steep if you have knee issues. We had never been to the Lake Lure area. Besides fishing, & touring Chimney Rock we also enjoyed riding the country roads. We travelled to Hendersonville & found some wonderful N.C apples. We would definitely consider Five Oaks Cottage for a return trip.
