About this property

Cozy Cabin in Mammoth Cave

Our cozy cabin that borders Mammoth Cave National Park is perfect for your outdoor getaway. If you plan to visit the National Park, Mammoth Cave Horse Camp, The Blue Holler Off Road Park or even Nolin Lake this is the place to stay.
This newly renovated cabin is available for your vacation needs and has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full bed. There is a kitchen with all needed amenities (no dishwasher) and a dining room table that seats 4. You may also enjoy the front porch with Adirondack chairs and a swing for two. You also can relax on the back porch, which is partially covered and houses a gas grill and table for 4. The home does have 7 ft. ceilings and no closets.

Other things to note:
This cozy space was specifically designed for a peaceful outdoor getaway. There are just a couple TV Channels (no cable), a DVD player, a few DVD's and WIFI. We provide an Amazon fire stick so you can access your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. Cell service is usually strong enough for a phone call or text message but data is hit or miss.

Overview:
The home is 4 minutes from one of the Mammoth Cave National Park Entrances. To get to the visitors center in the middle of the park you will use a different entrance and you will enjoy a 14 mile scenic drive and a free ride on the ferry. Currently the ferry is under construction and not operating. We expect it to be done sometime this summer. You can still access the north side of the park but you will have to take an alternate route through Brownsville (about a 45 min drive) to get to the visitors center.

We are 4 minutes from Mammoth Cave Horse Camp where you can rent a stall for your horse.

We are 7 minutes from Blue Holler Off Road Park, which was ranked the #1 Off Road Park in Kentucky in 2018.

Nolin Lake State Park is 15 minutes away from this cabin.

We are a little less than an hour from Bowling Green where the corvette museum is located and about an hour from Cave City.

Getting Around:
Having your own vehicle is best for exploring the area.

Quiet retreat near Mammoth Cave
My wife and I stayed for a week. We visited Nolin State Park and Mammoth Cave and Hidden River Cave while we were there. We spent most of the time hiking in the "back country" portion of the National Park which has a trail head just about 8-10 minutes from the house. The Visitor Center and its associated trails are about 40-50 minute (pretty in the Fall) drive if the ferry's closed (which it was during our stay) The cabin and area are easily 5+ stars for quiet and solitude which is a big part of what we were looking for. The cabin was clean, and the kitchen was pretty well stocked for utensils and a fair amount of simple snacks/ foodstuffs if you got there with no food. We enjoyed the front porch after our hikes and cabin looks like it's pretty well cared for. The owner was responsive to any questions we had when we arrived. Just a note if you're visiting in the "offseason" which I think our late October visit qualified as. Dining out options "near-by" early in the week may be limited. KyRock cafe was the closest option we found that was open on Monday. Blue Holler Cafe was closed M,T and the closer restaurant "Hickory Cabins" was closed M,T,W. Wasn't a deal breaker, but we wound up cooking "in" most nights.

Pleasant stay in cozy cabin
Cozy cabin about 45 min from Mammoth Cave visitor center. Perfect stay for our family. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked; we cooked dinner both nights without issue. Enjoyed the back porch late at night. Surrounding area very beautiful with lots of rolling hills, and beautiful landscapes. We brought all of our own food as the nearest full service grocery store is about 40 min away. Highly recommend for future stays.

Rural cabin
This cabin was just what we wanted. A small cabin just for the two of us that was away from the hustle and bustle of anything. It is on a small quiet rural road with nothing really close which we loved. The cabin has everything needed to get by and the kitchen was stocked sufficiently. There was even a grill on the back deck so we could bbq. It’s a little bit of a treck to mammoth cave, but we knew that when we rented it and didn’t mind. It supplied the r&r we needed.

Deer Camp is a rural gem
They had everything we needed. Perfect if it’s easier to cook for yourselves due to dietary restrictions. A fun drive and ferry ride to Mammoth Cave NP. Make sure to get your cave tour reservations early, they sell out months ahead of time. Comfy beds and cozy living room. Get a squeal out of your kids as the get nibbled on by fish at Nolan Lake SP. Clean sandy beach and not crowded. For a few days out of civilization, this place is GREAT!!
