About this property

Blue Heron on Little Kingston Creek

Recently renovated 2 br,1 bath waterfront (downstairs) apartment, with full kitchen and bath, loaded with amenities from coffee, cookware, charcoal grill to billiards, chess, crabbing and kayaks. At the end of the day, gather around the stone paved waterside firepit for your favorite grilling foods or to just stair into the fire. With a spare deep water slip and free parking, you're free to come by land or sea with food, swimming/fishing gear. We take care of the rest. Enjoy the peaceful way of SOMD waterfront living.

Short Term Rental (STR) has always been the focus to our downstairs renovations. We've separated and closed off downstairs from upstairs, added a brand new modern kitchen including a washer/dryer combo, and completely replaced all flooring. We've added high quality memory foam bedding, new modernized furniture, but have kept certain antiques, which blend very well with the rustic/wood motif of the apartment, all in an effort to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
...we've even added insulation between the floors, to ensure any sound between the two is minimized.

Your waterfront view of Little Kingston Creek is second to none, from inside the apartment, or from outside on the private/covered patio. Outside common areas include anything in the back yard (waterfront side of house), private pier, kayaks, cornhole, and of course our new paved firepit!

...it's a short paddle (15 min) with the Kayaks, or walk (1 mile) to Myrtle Point Park located just outside the inlet to our creek. Myrtle Point park is a great place for swimming, and has miles of nature trails to walk.

Historic Solomon's Island is just across the river from our creek inlet, and a short 5 minute drive from the Blue Heron apartment. Solomon's island is known for it's history as a fishing community and to this day sponsor's numerous fishing and waterman events, including fishing tournaments and docking contests. Solomon's is best known today for its many seafood restaurants and tourism community lifestyle.

All waterside activities are common access amongst, owners, LTR tenants, and Blue Heron guests. These include all (private) pier activities (kayaks), and firepit. The Blue Heron private covered porch includes the area directly in front of the apartment, but does not include the (left side) area in front of the garage. Two roadside parking spots are reserved for Blue Heron guests, along with private entrance walkway to Blue Heron, and detailed in the checkin guide.

Karen and I (owners) live upstairs with our two dogs, and are nearly always (literally) available in person for any questions or needs.
...of course, we are ALWAYS available through text/call!

When you arrive you'll notice the surrounding areas have recently been developed with single family homes and townhouses, but as you turn onto our lane which leads back through the woods to our six-home community, it's like you've entered the "twilight zone" and discovered a little piece of paradise hidden away from all the growing congestion.

As the name suggests you'll find lots of wildlife in our little community, including a couple of "Blue Herons", Ospreys, ducks, geese, and even a couple of Bald Eagles have a nest close by.

Getting around is easy...
By land, we are 1 mile away from one of the two largest road arteries (Rt 2-4) headed into and out of St Mary's county, as well as "Three Notch Road (MD235). We're just minutes from both Solomons Island, MD and all the California, MD shopping centers and restaurants.
By water, we're near the mouth of the Patuxent River, just north of the Solomons Island (Rt 2-4), aka Gov Thomas Johnson Bridge.

Fantastic Vacation, in a Fantastic Rental Property
We have stayed at a few rental properties now, and we have a sense of these "things". One of my first stays included the New Orleans police greeting us at 0100 in the morning due to the entry instructions being too complicated and the alarm not silenced. This stay was by far the easiest check-in and entry to the property we have experienced. Dave and Karen were very good communicators (email and text) and this took away a lot of anxiety. The property was clean, well laid out and very well stocked (bathroom and kitchen wise), we only needed to purchase food stuffs for our stay. Everything else was provided for. Considering bed comfort, we have stayed at several 4 and 5 star hotels; and after just a couple of nights my back is in knots. I did not have a single knotted up morning the entire stay at Blue Heron. The view from the front porch was as breath taking as it was tranquil. While we did not make use of the fire pit, there was wood and tinder ready for us if and when we needed it. After a day out exploring and being with family, it was a wonderful refuge to return to nightly. I cannot say enough great things about the property and our hosts Dave and Karen. Thank you very much for our stay and we cannot wait to come back!

Hi, please call me Dave...
I'm a veteran (US Navy) and career civil servant who continues to work for the Navy. Happily married (to Karen) since '91 with three grown kids, we usually all get together in summers for a beach vacation on the Outer Banks (OBX) of NC. We've been OBX vacationers annually for 30+ yrs. Karen and I are fairly new to hosting, and looking forward to sharing our beautiful waterfront property with those that appreciate waterfront living.

Why they chose this property

Waterfront with deep water slip docking, and protected from potential open water weather.

What makes this property unique

We've added a waterside fire pit, kayaks and we've recently re-felted the pool (billiards) table, included in our mile long list of amenities
