Father/Son fishing weekend
What an amazing spot John and Lori have. It is incredibly convenient to get to. They were awesome to work with and met us as we arrived. Their home is set up with everything you could need. As others have mentioned, they created a great list of local restaurants and shops to visit should you need anything. The views are beautiful, looking right out over the water, from the living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. My son and I had hired a guide to go fishing and their dock was the ideal pick up spot. It is an awesome dock with 3 different areas to enjoy and then steps and a ladder into the lake. Saturday morning you could literally see bass jumping out of the water and a Blue Heron soaring across. I hope to have my whole family up there next summer. From what my son and I experienced this past weekend, I know they'll love it.

Perfect- All around! Look no further
Everything was fantastic- From the prompt communication from John from the minute I expressed interest in the property to extending our stay after I originally booked the property-everything was quick and easy. John & Lori are fantastic hosts! They waited for nearly an hour at the property for us to arrive (we were stuck in traffic) and walked us through the property, where everything was, etc. They were super thorough and the list of restaurants, grocery stores, etc. that they had posted in the kitchen helped us make our decision as to where we were going to order takeout from based on their recommendations. They left fixings for S'mores & dog treat bags for our pups which was really thoughtful. The property itself was modern, clean & they provided all the basic necessities one would need while away from home. Our favorite spot was sitting at the end of the dock and down by the fire pit (a few steps across the private road from the home itself). It was truly a great way to celebrate my Mom’s 60th birthday and everyone on the trip mentioned many times how fantastic everything was. I would 1000% stay at John & Lori’s property again and we are already thinking of making this a yearly trip. Seriously look no further, John & Lori will do everything in their power to ensure your trip is as memorable as mine was. Thanks again!

Entertainment Central
From the moment we arrived, we were personally greeted by John and Lori and given a tour of the whole property. They had a beautiful set up in front of the Lake with a fire pit ready for use to use and plenty of chairs for party of 6 to use. Each room was very clean and had a set of towels on each bed ready for us to use. In the kitchen, they had plenty of disposables for us to use so we did not have to worry about doing dishes. There were also plenty of pots, pans, baking trays for use and kitchen utensils for cooking. There was a washer and dryer available for use that we used to dry our towels and wet bathing suits after swimming in the lake. They even went above and beyond by leaving us a cute welcome basket full of goodies for s’mores at the fire pit and even treats for our dog max. They provided plenty of doggie bags for cleanup and even had a long leash we could use with max in the backyard. There was plenty of firewood for our bonfire nights sitting in front of the lake. We truly enjoyed fishing on the dock and the use of the paddle board, kayak and float toys. They had plenty of life jackets in different sizes ranges for all of us to use and even sunscreen in the pantry if you forgot yours. They also have a closet full of board games that we had fun playing with. If your hungry, Lori and John have provided a list full of you restaurant options all within 10-20 of the home. We had an amazing time and will be coming back for sure!

We are the proud parents of three adult children: A 26-year old daughter and 21-year old fraternal twins in their final years of college. We live in nearby Newtown, CT and buying this home was our first step toward downsizing as our kids begin to pave their own paths.

We thought it would be a great opportunity to share our home and meet new people in the process.

Why they chose this property

The home has so much to offer. Literally "steps" away from the oversized private 70' dock, this waterfront cottage lies in a quiet part of Candlewood Lake referred to as Squantz Cove, named after nearby Squantz Pond State Park. This state park is a 10 minute walk from the home with numerous hiking trails above and beyond the usual boating, swimming, and fishing.

The beauty of the location of this home is that, while close to Squantz Pond, it sits directly on Candlewood Lake so its abundance is at your fingertips with local marinas renting boats, jet skis, etc. We provide a two-person kayak, paddle board, a number of water floatation devices and all the life jackets you would need for all the water recreation you would want. Bring your fishing gear as Candlewood is a highly rated fishing paradise. Oh, and if you want to mix business and pleasure, wi-fi is fully available outside!

What makes this property unique

Due to its proximity to Squantz Pond, the dock resides in a "no wake" zone so you won't have to worry about the rocking back and forth that comes from passing boats, jet skis, etc. You'll never have to worry about the view across the way, as it is a tree-lined natural parking area for the nearby boat launch, a site to behold as the leaves change colors.
