About this property

Creekside Retreat at Bald Top Mountain

This is a creekside 1st story retreat located at Bald Top Mountain with one bedroom (queen), a full bathroom, living room, and kitchen. Outside, there is a patio with 2 chairs, a couch, and table where you can sit and listen to the babbling brook and enjoy the views of the waterfalls, nature, and greenery. (The upper level of the property is a permanent rental.)

The property is private and rural, but conveniently located within 1/2 hour drive of Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Asheville, the Biltmore, Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville Airport, and the Pisgah National Forest. It's not a long drive off the main road, and doesn't require a 4 x 4; however, due to recent storms and traffic from utility & construction companies further up the mountain, the asphalt in a short area of the road is crumbling and rutted. You'll still be able to get up the road (the property manager drives a Toyota Corolla), but you'll need to drive VERY slowly there.

Gorgeous little oasis
We loved staying here especially hearing the sound of the little waterfall outside the door! Everything was clean & the location was perfect. My only wish was that the bed was a bit bigger, felt closer to a full than a queen.

Beautiful hideaway
This property was absolutely amazing, clean and in a great location! Its close enough to town, less than 20 minutes, but far enough away to enjoy the mountain life! There is a beautiful creek running through the back yard and a fire pit where we sat and enjoyed the tranquility! 10/10 recommend and we will be returning, thank you for the amazing stay!

Quiet and full of nature
This small place is a gorgeous getaway from reality. Quiet and the front yard is literally a nature trail and creek. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook. Bed is a little too firm for my liking but other than that plenty of storage for clothes. Overall very clean and cozy. I enjoyed my stay and would love to return

Lovely Spot
The rooms were very clean and very nicely decorated with current art and new furniture. The bed was comfy, shower was great (even a bathroom heater) and each room was spacious. The porch was so nice because it looked out at the beautiful trees and walkways. The road to the home was a little rough but we could easily steer around the holes. I would definitely love to stay here again.

The property is hosted by Jeff & Kristy Gablin and their daughter and son-in-law Pete & Sara Guillard live on site and manage the property. Jeff & Kristy recently purchased the property after realizing their now married daughter had become a mountain gal, was growing western NC roots, and a place to stay when visiting was a must. Pete and Sara love outdoor recreation and spend a lot of time rock climbing, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and more. Pete is a professional climbing guide and has been climbing the Appalachian region (with stints in other areas, as well) for more than 10 years. For more info, you can check out his website www.peteguillard.com. Together, they can talk western NC outdoor recreation for hours.

Why they chose this property

The property is ideal because it's secluded & peaceful yet it is centrally located to all that western NC has to offer. Despite the rural setting, it is within 1/2 hour drive of Asheville, the Pisgah National Forest, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Rumbling Bald, the Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, and all the outdoor recreation, breathtaking views, orchards, vineyards, and breweries that the area boasts.

What makes this property unique

The property sits next to a creek with waterfalls and is very peaceful. It's very relaxing to sit on the patio and listen while watching nature. Cross over the small bridges to explore walking paths, boulders, plants, flowers, and wildlife.
