This updated condo is quaint, clean and home-like because it is someone's second home! The decor has a relaxed, nautical flair. TILE is non-skid and is not dirty, it retains grit due to it's nature.
We have grills, beach chairs, umbrellas and tennis rackets for your use.
The condo is equipped with dishes, pots, pans, linens, bath and beach towels. We give you a start-up supply of toilet paper and paper towels and a couple trash bags, but the rest is up to you. Please note that mosquitos and no-see-ums can also be an irritation for many guests and put a
damper on your outdoor activities. You may consider bringing or buying bug spray and the anti-itch medicine you prefer.
There are restaurants and grocery stores between 2 - 4 miles away. You can swim, snorkel and fish right off of our beach, there are nice sandy stretches among some seagrass. We are adjacent to Coco Plum city beach, so there is a nice stretch to walk, particularly during low tide. Many people prefer to wear "swim shoes" because there are sea-grass patches in the ocean, that grass is crucial to the environmental health. Our little condo beach is quite nice. Bicycles, paddleboards and kayaks can be rented nearby, with reasonable rates for the day or week - and delivered to our complex. (Check out Wheels-2-go)
There is also a very nice free public beach about 4 miles away: Sombrero Beach. It has grills, volleyball, children's playground, showers, picnic tables and fairly good snorkeling.
Marathon is a great central location for exploring the upper keys (Key Largo & Islamorada) and the lower keys (Key West, Big Pine Key and Bahia Honda State Park). There are many interesting sights such as
Crane Point History and Nature Museum, The Dolphin Research Center, The Turtle Hospital, Aquarium Encounters and The Art Studio. The City of Marathon has a nice public park that hosts festivals and activities. It has an excellent skateboard park, as well as basketball and tennis courts, and other sports. There are fishing and reef snorkeling charters and Jet-ski
rentals all close by. Nearby Pigeon Key has great snorkeling - it's a favorite of ours. Many people fish off of our little beach and around town off of bridges.
There is a world-class beach, Bahia Honda State Park 18 miles away (pronounced Bay-ah HON-da).I mention it because it is worth a day trip due to the fact that it is usually ranked among the "Top Ten" beaches in the USA. The sugar sand beach, ocean views and snorkeling there are outstanding, weather-permitting, of course. Key West with all its
history and sights is 50 miles away.
Unique Beach:
Please be aware of the unique nature of the beaches throughout the Florida Keys - we are an island made of rock coral. Most of the Florida Keys are NOT known for long stretches of white sand, in fact, some Keys beaches aren't even very sandy, but they are a unique shallow habitat somewhat protected from erosion by the reefs which run parallel to our islands. Our islands are made of fossilized coral rock, so there are rocky patches throughout the Keys. Beach time is an essential part of any Keys visit, but it usually not the sole focal point. If you are looking for miles and miles of wide sandy beaches and big waves, this is NOT the place for you.
We'd like you to appreciate your Florida Keys visit with realistic expectations and enjoy our island atmosphere for what it is rather than what it isn't. If you are looking for a relaxing beach from which to view tranquil blue-green waters, spectacular sunsets and sunrises this is the place! There are outstanding opportunities for snorkeling, swimming, diving, kayaking, boating, fishing and outdoor water sports of all kinds; viewing ocean wildlife is a wonderful experience here. There is a rich history and places to visit that range from early settlements, the seafaring trades to the homes of notable people from authors to presidents, all who have spent substantial time in the Keys and left their mark here.

Check in time is after 3pm, check out time is 10am. Wi-Fi is free, but sometimes spotty due to our island location.
We do not have dockage on our property. There is no boat, trailer or RV parking in our lot.
