About this property

"The Terrace" - a boho suite at Riverfront Camp

"The Terrace" at Gold River Camp is a boho-chic guest suite that's charming in so many ways. This guest suite features a private bathroom, kitchenette (with griddle, microwave, coffee maker & mini fridge), and a rattan egg chair for two. Overlook the campground's property which includes plenty of fire pits, a river front beach, a group pavilion and community gas and propane grills. We hope you'll enjoy exploring the property and relaxing by the babbling river.

A campground vibe, but with modern amenities. This suite boasts comfortable bedding and linens, mini-kitchenette and private bathroom. Community fire pits, grills and picnic tables available throughout. No Wifi and cell service VERY limited, so plan accordingly by downloading your favorite shows or podcasts on a tablet, or better yet, plan to have an off-screen getaway, you'll be thankful you did! .There is no TV on the property. G.R. is the perfect base camp for your adventures; with dozens of activities within 30 minutes: waterfall hikes, tubing, biking, Lake James and Lake Lure, Black Mountain and not too far from Asheville.

Other things to note
We rent tubes for the river...they are $8 for a single tube for one day or $15 for a double - ask us to send you a special offer.
Note: the river is shallow, these tubes are for relaxing and tying to a tree and just wading in a place (you don't float down this river, it's too shallow).

Stay was overall nice
Stay was nice. I did have a couple of experiences to report. The water would not get warm/hot in the sink that was in the kitchenette. Also could not adjust thermostat higher than 72 degrees. It was a little airish in the room.

Welcome to our charming camp on the edge of adventure. We're the owners, Kathryn and Trevor, but let's be honest, the bosses are the ones is diapers and our sweet pups, Maya and Ghost.

In 2018 we took a perspective changing round-the-world trip; when we returned we knew we wanted life to look different, we just didn't know exactly how. By the grace of God, we were blessed to find our little slice of paradise and now we get to share it with you. Inspired by the lifestyle of Southeast Asia, the Hospitality of Eastern Europe and the Work Ethic of Africa, we're hoping to
share the favorite parts of our travels with you!

Whether you're just planning on kicking back and enjoying the peaceful rushing river or if you're only looking for a basecamp for your adventures, either way, we hope your stay will be golden!

Why they chose this property

Gold River Camp and Cabins is a former gold and gem panning operation turned luxury campground. You will find this a relaxing getaway with a communal focus in mind.

What makes this property unique

Today, there can still be gold found in this very river. At Gold River we welcome you to try you hand at old fashioned gold panning in the river.
Panning is a patient process; there are YouTube videos you can watch to help master the technique. Gold pans, shovels and screens are provided in the pavilion for your use, free of charge.
Panning in the river is done at your own risk - Gold River is not responsible for injury or loss and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We simply ask that you return your equipment to the pavilion when you are done with the fun!
