About this property

Cheerful lake house close to skiing, state parks, wine tasting, and much more

Come and enjoy our family lake house! Relax with the whole family or take your partner on a romantic retreat at our peaceful, private getaway. Located a little more than an hour from the Twin Cities, no more than 10 minutes from most amenities, but tucked away in the woods, this property is a great opportunity to get away and recharge in the tranquility of nature.

To ensure the accuracy of this listing I first will take some time to explain the "downsides" of the rental so that it is clear as to whether or not our rental is a good fit for you.

The hill behind our house is quite steep and may be a challenge for elderly individuals or those with bad knees. We do have a number of stairs down to the dock area, as pictured.

There is one shower, which is located in the walkout basement bathroom. The basement itself can get quite cold in the winter but there are heaters that you may use for each room to remedy that. The main floor is heated quite well. The upstairs bathroom has a bathtub, however please note that our water has higher iron content and a brown tint. It has been tested and is not dangerous whatsoever.

Loveless Lake has had algae bloom in the past, as have many lakes in Wisconsin, which has worsened due to the high heat and drought of this last summer. DNR recommendations for lakes such as this are as follows:

-Animals and humans should NOT drink water from the lake
-If you catch a fish from the lake, clean it with fresh water. Only eat the meat and not the fish organs.
-If swimming in the lake, rinse off well after swimming and use soap. Swim at your own discretion.

Please note we do not allow any drugs, smoking, or excessive partying. All of the above with result in a cleaning fee of $100-300 depending on severity.

Now for the good stuff!

Watch a picturesque sunset over the lake on the upper deck, lower deck, or screened porch. Enjoy a bonfire around our firepit while roasting marshmallows and taking in the sounds of nature. Curl up on the couch near the fireplace with a good book or a stream a movie (we have excellent WiFi). There is a little bit of something for everyone!

Loveless Lake is a 126 acre lake with largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish. The lake is peaceful and great for fishing, canoeing (access to our canoe included), and kayaking. In the winter it is perfect for ice fishing.

The lake house is a great fit for young families, girls retreats, and romantic getaways. Some of the amenities we provide include: access to our canoe, self check-in, coffee/tea, luxury shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a hair dryer, plenty of books/games/movies, access to streaming services, WiFi, toys for children, and a pack n play. Please do ask for anything else you may need and we will do our best to accommodate.

IMPORTANT: Please note that we have a steep driveway that we do our best to ensure is always plowed. We DO NOT recommend using the driveway in the winter if you do not have 4 wheel drive. Even if you do have 4 wheel drive, please proceed with caution. It is always an option to utilize our neighbor's parking landing right next to our driveway and walk down, as long as you only utilize one spot. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Quiet hours on the lake are 10pm-8am. Please be respectful of this and of our neighbors, some of whom are year-round residents.

A quiet place to relax
We are moms of young kids and were looking for a quiet place to relax. This fit the bill! A close drive to the state park for a hike as well as wineries. A cozy place to end the day with lots of sleeping space. Very quiet and serene with not a lot of check- out requests for cleaning- appreciated the simplicity!

We had a nice stay!
This was a nice cabin with LOTS of room. The decks and screened in porch are beautiful. There are so many games, books and movies available which was awesome! The record player and vinyl were a fun treat. The location is nice and really close to Balsam Lake. We went to the brewery and the Balsam Lake Cafe which were both really good! The description of the steep driveway is accurate, it's no joke! The host was awesome - she sent messages checking in on us to see if we needed anything. There are a few warnings (not bad things by any means) that I would give others looking to rent this cabin: - The fire pit is right next to the neighbor. - The stairway to get to the lower level is pretty steep and narrow. If you have bad knees or stairs are hard for you I would think twice about this cabin. There are two large bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, so it is possible to not have to use the stairs. There are three bedrooms and a second bathroom (with the only shower) downstairs. - If you are expecting outdoor space to play yard games this isn't the place for you. Overall we enjoyed our weekend and had a great time!

My husband Jonathan and I love to travel and explore new places. We were both born in Minnesota, but got engaged in St Lucia and wed in Big Sur, California! We own a home in Minnesota as well as this Wisconsin Lake house, and are crazy about our dogs Henry and Dolly.

Why they chose this property

We love the tranquility and peace of this lake property, little over an hour away from our home. It's a lovely getaway and we are excited to share this gem with others.
