THE CHALET
Welcome to the BlackBeary Chalet! A place of blackberries, and black bear! A wonderful place of peace and relaxation tucked away high up on nearly 30 acres of mountain paradise, surrounded by nature, birds, and wildlife. A place for awesome mountain vistas. A place to get away from it all !
Breathe deeply of the pure mountain air, then open the door by the cute, locally handcrafted bear carving and step inside the great room with its soaring cathedral ceilings, a real wood burning fireplace, and plenty of comfy seating! Your eyes will be drawn to the inviting, fully stocked kitchen with its solid oak cabinets, beautiful granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It is FULLY equipped, (outfitted by a stay at home mom!) and stocked with all the necessities for making gourmet meals, and includes both a Keurig coffee maker, or a 12 cup coffee maker for your family.
From there, the view of mountains will captivate you enough to make it difficult to explore the rest of the floor, with its welcoming master bedroom, which includes a walk in, tiled shower and a jetted whirlpool tub. You will also find a large walk-in closet with a solid aromatic cedar accent wall. Then there is a second, inviting bedroom, a full bathroom, and a hallway closet stocked with cleaning supplies, should you desire to use them. Staying for a Flexcation? There is a table and chair, with a high speed internet router that you can directly connect your computer to. No worries about wifi! (Although the wifi is great to!)
Downstairs, you will find beautiful wood clad walls, a bedroom with 2 queen bunk beds with a private, full bathroom. You will find another cozy bedroom with handcrafted log furniture, a common area bathroom, along with the large game room, equipped with a slate top pool table, with a ping pong top for another game option, (in a room big enough to actually use it!) a 60 game arcade, and board games in the closet.
THE OUTSIDE
Outside, on the lower deck, you will find the massive, 6+ person hot tub with waterfall, fountain, and lighting features. On the upper deck you will find the picnic table and its umbrella, a propane grill, and awesome mountain views that will make you want to linger for a long time.
Behind the Chalet, you will find a fire ring and seating tucked up against the mountain, and shaded by trees where you can relax by the fire, and perhaps enjoy some S'mores! Or just sit and soak in the mountain ambience as you re-connect with each other.
One more awesome amenity, you have free access to the Honeysuckle Pool and Deli, (in season), along with a catch and release fishing pond just 5 minutes up the road!
THE TRAIL
Ready for an adventure? Take a hike on our private mountain trail! Do you love hiking, but are tired of the crowds? Our trail is about 3/4 mile long, but extremely rugged and steep, and largely unimproved. It is a true Tennessee mountain wilderness experience! (We recommend only experienced hikers tackle it.)
THE AREA
The BlackBeary Chalet is nestled all by itself on 25 acres, surrounded by mountains and nature. But it is still only a short drive to all the attractions nearby. It is less than 15 minutes drive to the Metcalf Bottoms entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the Foothills Parkway, and approximately 30 minutes to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, depending on destination and traffic.
THE ADVANTAGES
The BlackBeary Chalet is privately owned and operated. In the unlikely event that issues should arise, you will be communicating directly with the owner, who has the authority to make things happen! We commit to doing everything in our power to resolve issues immediately. Ensuring an enjoyable stay for our guests is our highest priority!
ONE MORE THING.... DEFINITELY READ THIS!
The serenity of this location, and its awesome mountain views, comes at the price of a long and very steep, but manageable, concreted driveway. (Consider it part of the adventure!) Loaded maxivans often fail to make it up the drive, but there is a parking spot at the bottom if needed.
Renters will be required to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle for any stays from October through April. We also highly recommend trip insurance during these months, as the drive is impassable in snow or ice. If you have any question, feel free to contact your host.
Thank you!
