About Todd & Kaye Phillips

My name is Todd.I was retired when I purchased my home in 2007 and wanted to enjoy my home as a weekend retreat.I am a designer/artist with a keen sense for home furnishing decor and have spent two years renovating our home into our personal nest. I am called back to work now and so I have decided to share our special home with vacationers visiting Asheville. My wife, Kaye, and I love Asheville; it is a magical place.

Todd & Kaye Phillips purchased this house in 2007

Why Todd & Kaye Phillips chose Asheville

I was looking for a serene and private get-a-way that would support my creative spirit. The mountains are magical, mystical and inspirational. The town is real and vibrant and filled with opportunities to grow and just enjoy being present.

What makes this house unique

Privacy and serenity in a woodland setting, yet 3 minutes to downtown Asheville with its vibrant city streets, award-winning restaurants and a variety of music & entertainment venues.

Luxury pet-friendly accommodations with all the amenities of home. Please Note there is a 5-night minimum for stays during July, August, and all major holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve); all other stays need only a 3-night stay. UPDATE: as of November 17, 2015, a new Asheville law requires us to only offer stays of a minimum 30-nights.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kaye & Todd - We had a fabulous stay in Eagle's Perch. The architecture and furnishings were so comfortable and homey. We are planning a home in the area in the future and brought our architect over to see the house and its lovely features.

We enjoyed all the beautiful art in the house - fixtures for lighting to paintings and photographs. Thank you for sharing your lovely home and we look forward to returning another time.

Ashville and its surroundings are glorious and enjoying all of that in the comfort and luxury of this wonderful mountain home, made it that much more special.

The house has the most amazing views. The large windows that surround it give you the feeling of being outside, in nature, while at the same time you get to enjoy the comfort of being indoors and surrounded by the wonderful furnishings and decorations.

It's in the mountains, in the middle of nature, but only 2 miles from downtown and 4 from the wonderful Blue Ridge Parkway.

From here, you really do get the best of both worlds. The feeling of being as close to nature as humanly possible, while at the same time enjoying the luxury of being a few minutes away from the activities downtown Ashville and the surroundings has to offer. All in the comfort of modern day kitchen and bath (awesome Jacuzzi and seperate shower included) and coziness of a well furnished and decorated mountain home.

I highly recomed this property and everything about it.

My Perfect Wedding Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This house was incredible for my wedding weekend in Asheville! Firstly, the views! Not only does this house have amazing views, it has several porches and large windows to take the views in. You feel as though you're surrounded by mountains, but in reality, you're five minutes from downtown Asheville. I stayed at the house with my bridesmaids for my wedding and we could easily drive downtown in five minutes or take a $10 Uber. As for the house itself, it is a great space for larger groups or even families. The entire top floor is a suite with a beautifully remodeled bathroom and again, views! In addition to that, there is a spacious living/dining area and kitchen on the middle floor and a large bathroom set up with a ping pong table. All of the bedrooms were decently sized and beds were comfortable. For a mountain home, this house also offered ample parking and a garage. The driveway is steep, but once you're to the top, there is easily room for 6-7 cars to park. Lastly, this is a great spot for dogs. There is a small fenced in area for you to let them out and a great walk suggested by the owners to take them on. The only potential caution on this house turned out to be a pro - The bears! There is a family of bears in the neighborhood that we were able to watch walk up the home's driveway. These are black bears that will leave you alone as long as you do not disturb them. And they were so fun to watch!

Do Yourself a Favor: Book Soon and Often and Relax

  • 5 of 5

Never has a vacation been so wonderful. This house has THE most INCREDIBLE view. Watching the sun make its way through the morning haze. Looking across the nightlights of the city to the mountains in the west. The absolute stillness of the mountains with the nightlife of the city streets just minutes away. The sights and sounds of Asheville were quite a lure, as was the Grove Park Inn spa just around the bend down the mountain.

Eagle’s Perch is a short drive to the grocery store or a five minute drive to some the “best eats” in Western Carolina. No need to surf the Internet for restaurant listings and menus; all the information needed is already there at the house.

Of course, the owners provided us with a guest booklet that described EVERYTHING. Sights and sounds of interest in Asheville. Even a walking route through the neighborhood (quiet and free of traffic). What a special treat. The houses were almost as amazing as the views they had of the mountains and the city below.

The house is neatly appointed with classy and classic art as well as all the essentials found at home. We arrived for the Christmas week and enjoyed a fire in the fireplace every single day. It was fabulous.

Bedrooms are all very nice; beds warm and comfy on a winter’s day. Oh, yes, the master suite on the upper floor was just luxurious. (Almost hated to go downstairs!)

The game room was fully stocked with games, books and puzzles, but there is so much around to see and do, the poor room didn’t see much of us, other than the ping pong tournament!!

If you want to treat yourself (and the family), enjoy ANY season or EVERY season - spring, summer, winter, fall – at Eagle’s Perch in beautiful Asheville, NC.

My only caution: you may not ever want to leave!!

Beautiful home with stunning views!!

  • 5 of 5

After reading the online reviews, we chose Eagle's Perch for my mother's 80th birthday celebration and could not have been happier. The home is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and a 5 minute drive to downtown Asheville that can't be beat. The owners were wonderful, providing everything you could possibly need during your stay, including a home and activities guide that was put to good use. Kaye was also extremely attentive, even calling when it snowed to let us know where to find rock salt in the garage. I simply can't say enough good things about Todd & Kaye or their gorgeous home. We created some wonderful memories there and my mom says our stay at Eagles Perch is something she will treasure always. The truth is, we all hope to return some day!

I wish there was a sixth star!

  • 5 of 5

Five stars are not enough to express my delight with my stay at Eagles Perch. I've been coming to Asheville for decades—stayed in B&Bs and even the Grove Park Inn— but my stay at Eagles Perch was far and away my most memorable, most relaxing ultimate Asheville experience. If I was lucky enough to live in Asheville, this is the type of home I would want. The owners have great taste and exquisite attention to detail. The home is decorated with so many beautiful furnishings, unique lighting fixtures and works of art—all in the keeping with the spirit of Asheville's arts and crafts legacy. The master suite (the entire top floor) with its garden tub and gorgeous separate shower, is like staying at a spa. And the views from the every level of the home are spectacular. You can tell that the owners have travelled extensively themselves and have anticipated their guests' every need. The house is spacious—three levels—with something for everyone. My 12 year old son loved the ping pong table and the variety of games, TVs, etc. When we were ready to take a hike, we just had to head out the door and walk along the near-private roads to experience streams, waterfalls, and beautiful views of Asheville. We were here with two other couples and everyone had plenty of room to spread out, read, talk, watch TV, cook, etc. Speaking of, I love to cook and this kitchen was equipped with EVERYTHING I could possibly need to prepare a gourmet meal. When it's time to turn in, the very comfy beds are appointed with 100% cotton sheets and luxurious blankets and comforters. The temperature plunged while we were there and the wood burning stoves were awesome. I can't think of a better place to bring in the New Year. It's a great home for family reunions or gatherings! We will definitely return and hope to make Eagle's Perch our "home" in Asheville.

A Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Eagle's Perch was all we had hoped it would be. The location could not have been better - private, surrounded by nature, yet very easy access to downtown Asheville and surrounding areas. The house was perfectly clean, very well equipped, and the furnishings inviting and comfortable. The art and decor reflect the home's style and the owner's talents. Our group of six particularly enjoyed the great views from the decks, the large and convenient kitchen, and the care the owner took to provide information guidelines and tips on galleries, touring, shopping, hiking, dining and more. We can highly recommend Eagle's Perch and look forward to returning for another visit.
