We live in Raleigh, NC but have always wanted to own a property in a historic area, and once one of our "surrogate" children chose to attend SCAD we came down to visit and fell in love with the area. We have one teenage daughter and THREE dogs, but when we come to Savannah we leave the dogs at home with Nana and take advantage of the opportunity to sleep in. We try to explore new places every time we visit and are happy to give you our recommendations!

Prior to purchasing this property we looked at hundreds, if not thousands of properties in multiple markets, but with a particular focus on Savannah, Charleston, or the beach ... I also have a Maui wish list, but that is a bit of a commute! When I was sent an alert that this property was available I fell in love with the fact that it was brand new, yet on the Savannah Riverfront and accessible to Savannah's historic district. When we came to see the property and realized how convenient it was to Tybee Island we decided that this property truly was the best of all worlds. While we love the beach, but not overly commercialized beach locations, we tend to get restless after a few days. The fact that we can spend the day at the beach, yet still come back and have plenty of shopping, dining and entertaining options made this location a perfect fit for us. The planned amenities in the neighborhood are unmatched to other rental locations and will include a private clubhouse with coffee and bar services, pool and state-of-the-art fitness center. As part of the Eastern Wharf commercial development there will soon be multiple retail and dining options just a hop, skip and a jump away for days when you don't want to venture too far. In the meantime, the Thompson Hotel has three different drinking/dining venues which are all excellent.

The Savannah dot shuttle system has a pick-up location in front of the Thompson Hotel (next door) and pick-up and drop-off spots throughout historic Savannah and it is all FREE! The Savannah Belles Ferry system will take you across the river or to the other end of River Street. This location is walkable to just about everything, but if you are not in the mood for walking, or have children or older adults, it is nice to know that free transportation is available. If you are coming to enjoy the Savannah nightlife, but still want a restful night of sleep away from the party atmosphere this is the perfect location.
