About John Manning

Hi, we're Liz and John and we'd like to welcome you to our townhome in Ballard. A little about us: we met in the south of France where we lived for several years before relocating to Seattle in 2000. John is Irish and speaks French, Spanish and Portuguese. Liz grew up on Bainbridge, a beautiful island in the Puget Sound. Our interests are varied: we're musicians, motorcyclists, fishers, hikers, skiiers, bikers, climbers, kayakers, entrepreneurs, sustainable farmers, gourmet foodie locavores, dog whisperer wannabees, wilderness lovers. We practice meditation and yoga and do our best to parent our wonderful four year old.

It is within walking distance of beaches, parks, sailing marina, fabulous restaurants and all sorts of recreation. The layout of the property makes it an instant home away from home.

What makes this townhome unique

Sit quietly by the Ballard Locks just a short walk from our townhome and read a book while boats and ships glide by or view the immense salmon run through the famous fish ladders at the Locks. Barbeque with friends at the Golden Gardens beach and see sea lions and seals (or at least hear them barking!). Take a sailboat or kayak and explore the Puget Sound. Puget Sound is also reputed to have some of the finest scuba diving on the West coast. Whatever your tastes, our townhome in Ballard is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood with a unique character and unrivalled amenities.

Just wonderful!

My family and I had the best time in Seattle, and with all the sight seeing we did, it was just wonderful to look forward to staying in a home away from home. This apt was clean, spacious, comfy and we lacked nothing. The neighborhood was lovely with all its mature trees and blooming flowers. I not only would recommend it, I WILL be back, thank you

Great Location

This was the perfect place to stay with 3 of my girlfriends on a sightseeing trip. There was plenty of space for everyone and the unit was very clean. The condo is in a great location; within walking distance to the grocery store, many good restaurants, and the Ballard locks/fish ladder. It was also a short/reasonable Uber ride to the sights in Seattle; the Space needle, Pikes Market, etc. The couple of times I had to contact John he was very responsive. The first morning the coffee pot sprung a leak. John had a new one delivered that day.

Lovely neighborhood.....

Great location. Quiet, safe & very pedestrian friendly. Very short walk to coffee shops, bakeries, & Quality Food Center. Enjoyed the local farmers market in downtown Ballard on Sunday(also a short walk from this property) as well as many other shops & dining spots in downtown Ballard. Nice layout of upstairs/downstairs bedrooms in this townhouse. Having a full size washer/dryer means packing far less clothing.

Awesome location!

My family of 5 (3 teenagers!) and my mother-in-law had a fantastic stay. The townhome is a few blocks from the Chittenden Locks which make a great destination for an early morning walk. Lots of different birds to see, a harbor seal, the salmon run, etc. Plus, watching the working of the locks later in the day was fun, too. Also, a few short blocks to lots of Ballard restaurants, 1 block from the grocery store... Also, very easy to get to downtown Seattle. We had a car, but my sister lives in Ballard and says the bus routes to downtown are very easy, too. The house was clean with plenty of space. We had a small issue closing a window the morning of our departure, so I called John. He was very responsive and offered to come out to take care of it. I just wanted him to know but didn't need him to come out. However, if there had been an actual problem we needed assistance with, sounds like he would have been really helpful and responsive.

Perfect location; adequate townhouse

Loved being in Ballard; we could walk to so many fun coffee shops, restaurants and even consignment shops. There was a grocery store right up the block on the corner which was wonderful. Also the locks were about 1/2mile, walking, with beautiful gardens, and incredible viewing of herons nesting, salmon running the fish ladder and seals swimming and waiting to eat the salmon! I think it was just the right week for all this animal activity but it was a thrill.

The condo was great in that it had 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms & a half bathroom and an adequate kitchen. The down side was that it was sparsely furnished in terms of living room seating, coffee tables, terrible TV, the internet was slow and cheapish decor. That said, the owner was accommodating, helpful and quick to respond. All in all, if I were going back and having 6 people again, because of the location and owner, I would definitely have it on the short list. We had a fun weekend celebrating our son's college graduation.

Promise Kept!

When we stayed at this location last year, I wrote in my review that we would gladly stay here again. We just made good on that note. Ballard is so much fun. This home is in a perfect location- away from the hubbub in a quiet neighborhood but still within easy walking distance of everything lively Ballard has to offer. The convenience of the driveway parking space should not be understated. The convenience of a grocery store one short block away should not be understated. John, the property owner, responded immediately to our questions and needs. The home is clean and spacious and comfortable. We heard no noise from the neighbors coming through the walls. Maybe I should be trying to keep this place a better secret... hmmm.
