House, 1 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-6)
Leave your troubles behind and bask in the beauty of nature. The National Park begins a short walk up the road. Enjoy stunning hiking trails into a desirable, but little known area of (south) Joshua Tree.
A landmark straw bale house with a single bedroom with a queen size bed, a 'great room' with single trundle beds (2 beds) (possibility for others to be added) and a lush garden with big vistas of desert and mountains. A very restful place used as an artist residency most of the time.
Perfect as a romantic couples getaway or for a group. By evening cozy up to a crackling fire in the courtyard. Cook your meals in the well-equipped kitchen and snuggle into soft covers by night. There are ample fresh linens for a party of four. (Additional beds could be added.) In the morning sip fresh brewed coffee while staring into expansive vistas in every direction. The large picture windows overlook far away mountains and desert. This is a landmark straw bale house with a 16' vaulted ceiling. Hot tub located in an enclosed courtyard just outside the bathroom.

About the Owner
Filmmaker/Arts Producer who relocated to Joshua Tree from San Francisco to develop an artist-residency/performance.
My 5 friends and I had an incredible weekend at this beautiful, unique property. We got to enjoy Joshua Tree by day, and the hot tub, great kitchen, and beautiful space outside by night. I couldn't imagine us returning to Joshua Tree and staying anywhere else! And I must second the comments about it's great energy - wonderful!
We loved this house made out of straw. Fabulous artworks dotted around the gardens, the most interesting shower I've ever seen, wonderful location on the edge of the park, great hot tub to sit and look at the stars at night. Eva was welcoming and friendly and nice. Plus, at the risk of sounding new-agey, the whole place has a really good energy.
Comfortable, pleasant, interesting
We came from Connecticut to explore Death Valley and Joshua Tree. LOVED JT. Such an amazing spot in the world.
It was great to stay so close to the park. This cozy cottage is just as described, with a comfortable and relaxed ambiance. Big patio for sitting outside and watching the sun rise or set. We enjoyed the interesting yard--and the yard of the Harrison House Art & Music Center across the street. (We read up on Lou Harrison once we figured out the connection--which made the whole place feel more intimate and interesting.)
Couple of downsides: The refrigerator was not cold; we froze bottles of water and put them in the fridge. We could have called the caretaker, but didn't want to take the time and left a note instead. Had to search around for the washer/dryer (in garage). And the place could benefit from a Welcome book, as someone else stated.
But overall, a wonderful, memorable stay. We stayed 3 nights and could easily have stayed longer.
Lovely quiet desert hideaway
Stayed here for a weekend visit to the Morongo Basin and Joshua Tree National Park. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood with the border of Joshua Tree National Park at the end of the street. :-). The property manager was very friendly and responsive to the couple of questions we had .
Grea desert getaway
Comfortable and relaxing and clean. Convenient for a lot of sight-seeing both in Joshua Tree Park and the surrounding areas. While there, we spent a day at the park, a day hiking Morongo Canyon, an evening in Palm Desert taking in a concert, visited Mt Palomar, Hoover Dam the Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Garden and the Salton Sea. Panorama house was great to come back to after a busy day and with a large fridge and a well-equipped kitchen, meals were not an issue. The owner graciously had sent us a list of shopping areas so we were not at sea. We would return in a heartbeat.
Style and Substance Meet Sublime Setting
A trip to Joshua Tree for the first time -- and this perfect desert getaway fits the bill. The two-bedroom stylish layout is ideal for 2-4 and the living room and kitchen provide that home spun feel. Make sure you walk around the road and see some of the astonishing architecture and views of the valley before heading into the park.
From the Owner
“Perfect Desert Getaway has uninterrupted views of the mountains and desert. The 'locals' entrance 1/2 mile up the street to Joshua Tree National Park features some of the most beautiful hiking in the national park and is accessible from the front door. This house is used for artist residencies and is made available to the public when not in use for that purpose.”
