Modern country cottage: swimming pool, privacy, vineyard & 5 min. to Healdsburg

Property Details

Updated: Jul 22, 2016
Great room, expansive decks, 3 bedroom, 2 full baths, outdoor shower, sleeps 6.

This unique two-acre property, with heated swimming pool, looks out on the beautiful Russian River Valley vineyards and the never-ending Western panorama. Only minutes from award winning food and shopping in downtown Healdsburg, its within easy walking or bicycling distance of tasting rooms at J, Rodney Strong and other acclaimed Sonoma wineries.

This elegantly appointed, newly remodeled, 3-bedroom, 2-bath (+ heated outdoor shower), luxury cottage overlooks an exquisite new 40-foot, heated pool (see heating rates) . Gracefully spaced steps span the entire front of the pool so you can lounge in shallow water enjoying a drink, reading, or simply admiring the view. On the grounds, a wooden bridge takes you across a winter creek to native California foliage. Enhance your enjoyment by playing outdoor Foosball on the deck or classic French Pentaque on the court nestled between vineyard and pool. After exploring the wineries, wind down by the fireplace. A sophisticated retreat for families and friends.

Enter property through our Malbec vineyard : Young, exclusive vineyard of 156 vines frame the entrance to our special home. Pear, apricot, fig, pomegranate, and walnut trees grace the two acre expanse. Indigenous, native oak trees circle the property, with six heads of free range calves across the creek on neighbor's land.

Well Water: The cottage's water supply is filtered well water (as most of the house are in Healdsburg). At times there might be a slight odor. It is perfectly safe to for drinking, cooking, showering.

I stayed last winter for one night with my friend. We went into town for dinner

(Healdsburg Hotel) and had a great fire in the fireplace that night when we got

back. The view of the pool and vineyard view is amazing. Everything is tasteful,

comfortable and clean. Great accommodations for two or a whole group.

Romantic charm, all conveniences, Healdsburg bliss

  • 5 of 5

We were joined by two other couples for a perfect extended weekend at Vineyard Vista. The property lacks absolutely nothing (every convenience and amenity is provided) while its charm and rustic flair give it the ultimate wine country feel. The living space is very comfortable with the fireplace and large dining table being two favorites of our group who enjoyed eating in two of our three nights.

Outside, the pool is kept quite warm so we were able to swim (November) and also took advantage of the private outdoor shower. Lots of spots on property to take scenic photos to capture great memories of our stay in this home. You'll want to move in!

The location is along a busier road but since the house is set back among its own small vineyard, you do not hear any traffic noise. You are about 5 minutes by car to town so the property offers a great balance of convenience and privacy.

We loved our stay and hope to make it an annual trip at Vineyard Vista!

Lovely well appointed house with pool, view of vineyard and hills. Just 3 miles from downtown Healdsburg, about 15 minutes from Santa Rosa airport. Comfortable stay for 2 mothers and their 2 daughters. Things went smoothly, owner responsive to our questions. High recommendation for pleasant get away.

Cozy, but needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

- Great location to the wine country

- Open layout

- Nice deck to enjoy

- Pool is aesthetically pleasing

- Nilus was very helpful with an early check-in

- The two queen rooms were very small, especially the one in the back. There was only room to walk around the bed and one nightstand. No dresser because the room wasn't big enough, and the closet was full of owner's items. Nowhere to lay out luggage or unpack.

- The pocket door on the second queen room doesn't shut all the way, making it difficult for privacy

- Beds had no headboards and were on rolling frames, making the beds look and feel extremely cheap.

- We agreed with other guests that having no top sheet for bedding was uncomfortable.

- The property was right next to a farm. So a rooster would start calling out at 5:45 am every day and would not stop. Made it impossible to sleep in on vacation.

- No A/C in the house, and we weren't allowed to run the vent fan. Since we couldn't open the windows due to the rooster, it made for very hot sleeping arrangements

-There were spiders all over the house. I realize it's the country but still made it uncomfortable.

-The outdoor shower is a plywood wall, with basic plumbing handles, and owners storage is right next to it. Definitely not luxurious as stated.

Overall: the house has good bones, but needs to have some updates, especially in the bedrooms. With a little TLC it would be a gem of a house.

We all agreed that $600 per night was too expensive for the condition and the lack of normal amenities.

Would come back

  • 5 of 5

Very good location near town and some of the best wineries. Great view across the road and an open floorplan with room for 6 people all with functional living room and kitchen appliances. If I make a trip back to Sonoma valley I would definitely consider staying here again. Thanks Nilus!

Perfect Wine Country Escape!

  • 5 of 5

This home was the ideal getaway for me, my husband, and my two sisters visiting from the east coast. We spent three lovely spring days at Vineyard Vista. Highlights were enjoying the vineyard views from the deck, splashing in the pool (afternoon sun really warmed it up), cooking in the well-stocked kitchen and exploring the area with my camera. The home is very well maintained, with high quality touches yet rustic charm. As long-time club members of J Vineyards, the fact that we could walk to the Bubble Room was a huge plus! It is also just a short drive to downtown Healdsburg for shopping, restaurants, etc. Thank you for sharing your little slice of paradise.

Cozy comfort

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the home. It was cozy and comfortable. They had everything provided that we could ever think we needed. Home was very clean and I loved the open space. It was raining when we visited so we stayed warm indoors and relaxed on the comfy couches . Thank you to Nilus, for providing a wonderful space for my family and friends. Highly recommended!
