Gather at the Shore, which is located just outside the beautiful City of Coloma, MI at 5264 M-63, on the shore of Lake Michigan can host up to 20 guests between two fabulously gorgeous homes. The Lake House (which is pictured first) sleeps up to 8 guests, and the East Cottage can easily host and accommodate up to 12 guests. These homes are for those families that can appreciate and value the intrinsic nature and beauty of Contemporary Architecture and Interior design - as well as, a love for life, family and nature.
This home is perfect for Family Reunions, Corporate Retreats and or Grad School Break-out Sessions. This home is actually perfect to host any large gathering of like minded creative people who love life and relish positive energy and influences in their lives.
Gather at the Shore is conducive for communicating and interacting with one another. The Contemporary Coastal Modern Interior Design found within both of these homes just cascades positive energy, harmony and creativity. Both homes are perfect examples of contemporary form and function like the works of John Pawson or Lily Kwong. Inside the Lake House, the simplicity of the horizontal and vertical lines are highlighted with the natural elements of the structure. The symmetry of the wooden beams, floors, and exposed brick create a natural linear movement to place an emphasis on the oversized windows that frame the beauty of the lake. The large windows frame the forever evolving natural beauty of the lakeshore perfectly, and they capture the sunsets of Lake Michigan like an Etel Adnan painting; simple fluidity of color and life.
The East Cottage pushes a more moderate Modern Design in the interior in contrast to the contemporary influences found in the Lake House. There is a feeling of Grete Schütte-Lihotzky and Frank Lloyd Wright in the East Cottage. An efficient and simplified user friendly design like Schütte-Lihotzky, and the honesty found in the materials and craftsmanship of the prairie style open floor plan that Wright embraced. The soft pastel colors of the walls and the contrasting bright primary and secondary colors found in the artwork, linens and furniture are perfectly balanced to allow the energy from the building materials to resonate throughout the home.
Both of these homes are perfectly crafted for comfort, warmth and harmony. They will provide you and your guests with a positive influential energy every morning, and every night, as you stay here. These homes will inspire creativity and laughter. They will motivate you to explore and embrace nature. These homes are influential to your spirit - their energy will revitalize you and allow your heart to sing every morning. Think about waking up to the fresh breeze straight off the lake and walking out to the kitchen to feel the warm glow of unconditional love from all the smiling faces that are there enjoying breakfast. The rooms in these two homes are spacious, bright, and full of energy. In the bedrooms you will find that all the beds have silky soft cotton linens that will embrace your body at night, ushering in sweet dreams of plenty. The hot water in all of the bathrooms can be soothing after a long day of adventure and exploration. These two homes, as modern and contemporary as they are, make sure that the functionality doesn’t ignore comfort for the sake of form within.
Watching the sunset on the deck at the Lake House will become a small tradition while you stay here. The coloration of the sky can be quite breathtaking. The saturation of color can be abundant with pinks, oranges, brilliant reds and deep golds. The Lake can be moody; one day it can be as smooth as glass and the next the waves can be fierce and full of blue-green color. Nonetheless, the Lake is one of the greatest gifts we have on this planet and to just stand there, at the shores, letting your feet sink into the sand as the waves tickle your ankles is an experience to remember.
Gather at the Shore is a perfect place to: launch day trips up and down the Blue Star Highway, enjoy the warmth of the sun on the pristine beach, kayak the shore as you explore the deep blues and greens of the water, watch the majestic sunsets and share a memory or two as you do - but most importantly the experiences and adventures you, your family, your friends, or your colleagues will have here…will last a lifetime; and what a priceless gift that will be.
