About this property

MDI's quieter side, walking distance to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Close to Acadia National Park trails, Seawall picnic area, and Island Explorer bus stop. This split level home offers 2 private living areas with shared kitchen/eating areas. 1st floor offers fully equipped kitchen w/nook area to sit with a coffee and watch hummingbirds. The living room and dining have an open concept. Enjoy the back deck from either the master bedroom or living room. You can often catch deer at this property. The MBdr has a tv, private full bathroom and door to deck. This floor has a bedroom w/twin bed, laundry room and another full bathroom. There is a small deck off the kitchen w/gas grill and small sitting area. The lower level has two bedrooms, one w/a twin bed and the other a queen. The downstairs has a full bathroom, a large room with smart tv/Roku set up. Enjoy the cooler downstairs or head out the day light basement door to the backyard with fire pit. We have a few outdoor toys, corn hole, and a basketball hoop.
Nearby...there are several restaurants and local take outs. Bass Harbor offers tours of the outer islands with fishing, lobster tours and sightseeing options. There are several lakes nearby where you can swim, try paddleboarding or kayaking. Two Acadia Nat'l Park trails, ship harbor and wonderland are 1 mile away. There are several mountains to hike and of course you are a 10 minute walk(no parking hassles) to the beautiful Bass Harbor Lighthouse where you are bound to catch a beautiful sunset. Bass Harbor is on the "quiet" side of Mt Desert Island, enjoy a day trip to Bar Harbor and then relax and enjoy just being here!

Clean, spacious, great outdoor fireplace

Very nice home in Bass Harbor with lots of room To spread out. We enjoyed this spot so much last year that we stayed here again this year. Oh, and steaks and split lobsters over the wood fire out back! Glorious!

Bucolic home in pines adjacent to ocean

A top VRBO property. 100% recommend. Quiet, peaceful, ocean air in a clean home. Balcony is great to enjoy the Maine weather.

Private yet convenient

Nice location close to southwest harbor and the lighthouse. Private tranquil setting. Very clean with lots of room. Master has en suite and basement has separate bed and bath making it work well for us traveling and work colleagues. Good communication from a very kind host. Not far to the park at all - we went every day and stopped at milagro coffee on the way. Thanks, Tina!

Comfortable and spacious

We very much enjoyed our stay here -- the house is spacious, clean, quiet, and exactly as described. We loved roasting marshmallows over the firepit and sitting on the back deck, either with the birds for coffee in the morning or watching the sun set over the trees in the evening. We love the quieter side of the island and hope to be back!

I love the quiet of our home and the nature around us. Close to the excitement in Bar Harbor but far enough away to be out of the crazy busyness. I grew up and have lived here my whole life. I live here on the island's off season. I pay attention to detail and hope you find that true of the cleanliness of the home. I hope that you will enjoy this home and will want to come back to explore more of this beautiful island, and feel at home.

Why they chose this property

This property is in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk to the Light house to catch a sunset or a quick drive to Seawall to watch the ocean waves and a sunrise. There are two, fairly easy, trails close by. This house is very functionable for 2 to 6 people and plenty of space to spread out and have your own place. The outdoor yard is big and has chairs to just sit and read a book. It is comfortable, clean and has a great back deck.

What makes this property unique

You can often sit on the back deck and hear the lobster boats returning from their days catch. Catching a fresh salty breeze from time to time on a lounge chair is my favorite. Your can walk and enjoy the lighthouse w/out the hassle of finding a parking place. Walk down around the town to see the ferry coming and going from Swans Island and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. It has a split level to have separation between 2 small families. There are often deer that lay in the back, sometimes w/their fawns.
