About Christine Ward
Christine and John Ward have been involved in tourism in the borders area between England and Scotland for twentyfive years. Latterly they owned pubs in the Scottish Borders and the centre of Edinburgh where their pub was champion pub of Scotland and famous both for its beer and its food ('The Halfway House'). Retiring in 2009, they decided to use their love of the romantic and beautiful scenery of the borders region as the basis for a new venture, for them, in tourism, owning properties for rental to couples like themselves. They have bought several properties, traditional cottages and modern conversions and equipped them, using Christine's flair for interior furnishing, to a high standard and take real pleasure in welcoming new visitors to this wonderful area. They try to greet every couple personally as well as using their personal knowledge of local food producers to get the unique 'welcome' baskets together to make every couple's visit a holiday to remember. Christine and John have two grown-up children, two grandchildren, a dog and two cats!

Why Christine Ward chose Berwick-upon-Tweed
The apartment just has that something special. You look out over the estuary and the harbor and, whatever is happening, by day or by night, there is constant variety, constant beauty and peace. Outside, you can walk along the great coast or beside the beautiful river or take in the views that inspired L.S. Lowry to do great paintings!
What makes this Apartment unique
All the luxuries of twentyfirst century living in a historic building with a spectacular view! Great for the traveller who wants to travel by train or bus as there is an excellent network of bus routes and rail links. Cycle hire available locally

Very helpful owners. Good off road parking. Convenient location
Great views overlooking the harbour, especially watching the sunrise. Excellent accommodation 10/10
Great base for all the surrounding areas.
Well equipped apartment
Beautiful apartment with fabulous views over the harbour. Home from home with a lovely welcome pack waiting for you.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I hope that you were lucky to see the seals from the lounge window. The harbour is always interesting to watch and the view to the medieval walls is spectacular. Come again soon
This is a warm apartment with an excellent view over the Tweed estuary and the southern walls of Berwick.
There is secure parking for your car and Berwick is a short, level walk away over the ancient bridge.
Clean,modern apartment with fantastic views
Having booked our stay with John & Christine a year ago we were very much looking forward to our New Year break away, and we were not disappointed !! John rang us to check we were ok and en route and to let us know everything was ready for us.Upon arrival it was great to see we were right on the harbour, no issues with parking as its gated with its own parking space. The apartment was clean, modern and surprisingly spacious for a 1 bed place with lovely views across Berwick. They had left us a lovely welcome basket, fresh eggs and milk and there was even a christmas tree and the table set for dinner (John and Christine definately go the extra mile !!!). The apartment is perfectly situated for walking into Berwick (5mins) or down to Spittal and only 10/15mins drive to holy island. We will definately be back to explore this lovely ancient town again and staying at Mill Wharf to do it !!!
Thanks for that great review. We love all our places and hope that you'll spend another Christmas time with us.
Loved the apartment and area
We’ve had a great weeks holiday. Berwick upon Tweed is central to many lovely walks. Also spent a day in Edinburgh which was a 45min train journey. The apartment has the best view across the harbour and just 10mins walking distance to the town. Would definitely recommend this holiday if you like the outdoors.
We love Mill Wharf! Thanks for coming and do come again!
Northumberland Coastal Path passes the door continuing south to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. River walks inland from close by
