The photos give a good sense of the loft--lots of natural light, an open plan divided into pleasant separate spaces with comfortable seating. The small balcony provides good views of the sunset over nearby hills (no outdoor furniture provided). As the photos show, the kitchen has the appliances you'll need for doing your own cooking, but you'll need to bring the basics--salt, pepper, oil, etc. A good grocery store is in the next block.
The loft is right in the center of the very small and very quiet "downtown." It's pleasant walking through the neighborhoods, across the John Day River, and right on out of town into the rolling hills. Don't be surprised if you see deer crossing the main street/highway.
There's an excellent museum, good hiking nearby, and easy walks at Trout Farm Pond CG and Lake Magone CG (check at the Forest Service office for maps).
The host did not provide an instruction/information sheet, but was very easy to communicate with.
