Palma, the capital of the Balearic Islands, is situated close to Marratxí and lies on the northwestern end of a bay in the southwest of Majorca. With 400,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city on the island. Palma is famous for its imposing cathedral, the old town and its harbor, and has become a cultural center in Europe. This is expressed mainly by its beautiful architecture, interesting history and notable museums and galleries. Furthermore, the city offers a cosmopolitan environment with an abundance of excellent restaurants, lovely shops, exciting nightlife, and many other forms of entertainment. In the labyrinthine old town, there are a lot of small alleys and shops that invite you to stroll around for a while. You can promenade through the city for hours without geeting bored – there is so much to explore! When you visit Majorca, you should not miss out on Palma. Furthermore, the promenade along the harbor is definetly worth a visit. There you can discover so many impressive yachts and generally, it is fascinating to watch the active bustle of the harbor. It is situated just west of the old town.
East of the city, it continues to Playa de Palma, in the west, a road lead to the mountain direction Paguera. The access to other parts of the island is good, via the Via Cintura ring road it radiates over the highways to most parts of the island. There are few places that cannot be reached within an hour. The journey time to the airport is only about 5-10 minutes.
