About LESLIE HATCH
We are both professionals; one in the field or art and business management and the other in international health. Our ancestors include several of the original families who settled on Cape Cod in the early 1600s, so we're 12th generation Cape Codders. Although our family usually stays at the home, several weeks in the summer we sometimes offer this unique, classic and simple beach home on Cape Cod with lots of privacy, and guests can appreciate Nature and the tranquility found in untouched native forests. We've enjoy fine food, so our kitchen is organized kitchen, well-appointed for cooking, includes a full-sized stove, refrigerator, mircowave, coffee maker, and dishwasher. We provide an initial setup of bed linens and towels - as well as comfortable furnishings, beds, central air conditioning, WIFI and internet with high speed cable, even board games, so the only thing GUESTS need to think about is what type of food and beverages they'd like to bring to enjoy during their stay. We have chairs on the deck, and an outdoor hot/cold shower to rinse off after a swim or walk on the beach; great for kids too.

Why LESLIE HATCH chose West Dennis
Home is a beautiful, exclusive 1 acre property on a private peninsula, with waterfront views from every room. Peninsula is surrounded by the state's largest salt water estuary. leading directly to Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. No undertow, rapid current, deep water; just a small private beach with peace and quiet. - No traffic, no noisy neighbors. Best of Both Worlds (Nature and Stuff)
Wonderful and relaxing location on the Bass River. Sunsets views that can be spectacular. A two sided wrap around deck allows you to enjoy the view. At high tide you can step off the cement foundation into the water. At low tide there's beach in front on the house and around the bend. We didn't swim, too many critters in the water for us. Thousands of fiddler crabs and we watched a bird catch an eel.
It is isolated and within a mile of stores and restaurants. The mid cape location is perfect. We spent a day in P-town, watched a Cape Code baseball league game. Just hanging at the house was perfect. It's comfortable, well-equipped and the hosts are very welcoming. The kitchen is perfect for those who like to cook, every gadget possible is there and in duplicates.
If you are looking for the perfect setting for a great family vacation on Cape Cod, look no further. This location is amazing. From watching the sun come up across the preserve, to full days of sunshine directly hitting your own private beach, to beautiful sunsets across the Bass River, you could not ask for anything more. Our host Leslie was the most thorough and attentive host I have ever experienced and we were truly given a "worry-free" vacation experience as she thought of everything. The house is extremely well appointed with everything you could possibly need for the perfect Cape Cod vacation. If the idea of pretty much having your own private island that is also accessible and close to everything you could possibly need sounds like your idea of a holiday, this is the place for you!
Amazing spot- totally private and right on the water. House is perfect!
Beautiful spot on a nature preserve. Gorgeous views from the deck, House is lovely, very clean and well appointed with everything one would need for a comfortable stay (and more!) Linens, towels, kitchen supplies are all provided. Great location, only a mile from shopping and 10 min to public beaches.
Beautiful waterside retreat!
My family of 5 enjoyed our restful stay at this stunning home on the Bass River. With 360-degree water views, this was a great place to spend a week. The home was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed bird watching, kayaking and going to the nearby Dennis beaches. It was a great vacation!
Our many thanks Leighann for renting from us. Please comeback anytime! Leslie
The Quintessential Cape Cod cottage/home
What do you think of when you think of Cape Cod? Water...shaker shingle cottages...beaches...nature...ice cream...seafood...relaxation...Well look no further. Doug and Leslie Hatch have the quintessential Cape Cod escape in their property in South Dennis. It is the PERFECT, extremely private location for exploring all parts of the Cape, which despite the summer traffic (which really didn't bother us), was easy and stress free. I swear almost everything we did was 5 to 20 minutes away. And driving around you see so many beautiful flowers (the hydrangeas were AMAZING) and houses and shops that you never notice how far you've gone and you're there! But you don't even need to leave the house to enjoy yourself. We kayaked right from the private beach, exploring all parts of the nature reserve that the property's on, from water, seeing horseshoe crabs, fish and a variety of birds on the way; we chased fiddler crabs and pondered their daily goings ons; we walked along the shore line; lounged in the hammock; sat on the deck and took in the 270-degree view of the beautiful Bass river; and enjoyed the outdoor shower. Inside we were more than satisfied to choose from their incredible collection of books and cookbooks; cook in their well-stocked kitchen (there wasn't a staple they didn't have, which was so nice!); eat at the table overlooking the river; sleep in the cozy beds; and yes, we enjoyed some movies as well after long days out and about. This property is indeed a home away from home and the Hatches couldn't have been more accommodating owners. They thought of everything a renter might need, and then some. We were more than comfortable there and absolutely hated to leave. (There were even some tears from my smallest small.) You won't regret your time there, and I'm already dreaming of when I can return.
Megan, We are so happy that your family enjoyed our home. You are welcome to stay anytime. Best regards, Leslie
An incredible property.
A perfect, private spot. It was hard to believe a property like this existed on the Cape in this price range. A cozy house with views that must be experienced to be appreciated. My wife and I have rented many places in New England over the years and this one may be the best. There was plenty of everything to last the week, as well as little bonuses like fast WiFi and ample cable TV stations. In previous rentals, we usually have had to restock paper goods and such halfway through the week, and basic cable is the norm. Not the case here. Leslie and Douglas go the extra mile and do whatever they can to make it perfect. They really care about their property and and we thank them for our stay.
Cape Cod is famous for beautiful white-sand ocean beaches, crystal clear freshwater lakes and ponds, and unique forests. This beauty combined with gorgeous summer weather . The Cape environs were originally home to Native Americans. Leif Ericson sailed his viking longboat here in 1013 AD. Proximity to the ocean explains the long history of sea captains; during the 1850s, clipper ships were built at the local Shiverick shipyard in town of East Dennis. The area was a haven for many famous and inspiring artists, authors, and in the 1800s began to become an area known by the aristocracy as a summer resort.
The beauty of the Cape can be appreciated at dozens of public beaches, and the huge Cape Cod National Seashore. There is a Cape BikeTrail; this extensive network for bicycling, walking and jogging (no vehicles) starts in the Town of Dennis less than 1 mile (2 km) from our home. Parking is free, and the Bike Trail extends for 20+ miles through Cape forests to the Town of Welfleet.
Local sport activities include: kayaking, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, fresh- & salt-water fishing, canoeing, boating, water-skiing, whale-watching, beachcombing, sunbathing, swimming, birdwatching; hiking. Environs include museums, art galleries, antique dealers and auction houses -- and miles of beautiful white sand beaches. Nearby live theater (Cape playhouse), cinemas, excellent restaurants & local pubs. In September, 'Indian Summer' weather is the best of the year, with lower prices
Other Activities: Ice skating rink (indoor), open year round (1 mile from home).
