About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6 w/2 king size beds

Our cabin is located in Starr Crest Resort in Pigeon Forge Tn. We enjoyed the #2 rating for the past three years with previous management companies including Dollywood Vacations in 2010. At this time we are managing our cabin privately. because of this we are able to discount our prices up to 30%. A Walk In The Clouds cabin is perched on the upper shoulder of the mountain in Starr Crest with a panoramic view about 30 miles into the Smoky Mountain National Park. Starr Crest Resort has the feel of seclusion but is only a four mile drive to Pigeon Forge Parkway, and an eight mile drive to Gatlinburg Tn, and 10 miles to the Smoky Mountain National Park.

Description of Cabin:: Richly appointed and generously sized, this beautiful two bedroom log cabin is the perfect retreat. A Walk In The Clouds features vaulted ceilings, a rustic stone fireplace and impeccably decorated interiors. From the picture windows you can truly enjoy an enchanted view of the Great Smoky Mountains. The kitchen, fully equipped to ensure all the comforts of home, has the added convenience of a laundry closet complete with a washer and dryer. The dining room adjoining the kitchen has a beautiful table with seating for 6, situated next to large picture windows facing a spectacular view. About Ray Walls

We have been married for 24 years and have three kids in college. My wife is a nurse and I am in heating and air conditioning. For the past three years we have been enjoying the #2 rating from our managing company's including Dollywood Vacations. Since then, we decided to manage our cabin privately and are enjoying the experience.

Ray Walls purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Ray Walls chose Tennessee

My wife and I looked at many cabins before we decided on this one. One of the biggest reasons we chose this one was because of the truly unique views from both decks. The panoramic views were far better than any of the other cabins. As you are relaxing on the deck, you experience a sense of seclusion, yet you are just minutes away from experiencing the thrill of a resort town.

Fabulous Cabin and Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

Marissa and Ray~

This was our second stay at your gorgeous and immaculately clean (very important) cabin!!! Our first stay was in April the week of April 14th 2012 with our son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Danielle. We could hardly wait to visit your cabin again as you might be able to tell since we came back so soon! The location of the cabin is perfect and the peace and quiet was appreciated. The decor of the cabin and the amenities are outstanding...nothing is lacking, even a computer which we appreciated! The pictures are lovely but the cabin is even better in person, if possible!! The ability to bring our small dog with us made our trip complete. Your cabin has the most SPECTACULAR view of the mountains from both of the decks. The view changes constantly depending on the sun and clouds and we never tired of the view! And, there were a couple of times after rain on a hot day that we indeed had a Walk in the Clouds!!! Our first trip to Tennessee was in April and we fell in love with the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area and with your cabin! The drive from the cabin to Pigeon Forge is very short and yet at the cabin we felt like we were miles and miles away from everything. The drive to Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountain National Park is beautiful and scenic and very close. We have barely scratched the surface of things to do and are already looking forward to our return!!! This trip we discovered The Wild Plum Tea Room in Gatlinburg...fantastic...went for lunch twice! And we returned to Cades Cove and Clingman's Dome as well as Parrot Mountain! Next time we'll do more...at approx 100 degrees every day of our visit, it was way too warm to be outside much. You, Ray and Marissa, are terrific to work with and you aim to please, too! We have and will continue to recommend your property to anyone interested in the area! Thank you for sharing your BEAUTIFUL cabin! God Bless you and we hope to return soon!!!

Owner's Response: Hello Karen and George We are pleased to hear you had another successful vacation at a Walk In The Clouds. We think you guys officially stayed in our cabin more than we did so far in 2012 LOL!! You couldn't be so right, the view changes all day with the clouds rolling in and out through the valleys. Glad you enjoyed it!! Hope to hear from you in 2013!! Ray and Marissa Walls

Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in the cabin was the perfect, relaxing vacation! The views from both the upper and lower deck were so beautiful we spent almost every second of being in the cabin outside on the deck. The deck could use a nice sanding/refinishing soon but that is purely cosmetic. The outdoor furniture was very comfortable. Most importantly, the cabin was immaculately clean. You wouldn't know it was a pet-friendly cabin. We appreciated that we could bring our dog with us. We cooked dinner every night that week and were happy that the kitchen was fully stocked with all of the cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc that we needed. The cabin was in a great location. It was close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but quiet and felt away from it all. Since we don't drive a truck or SUV, we appreciated that the cabin was on a paved driveway that was steep but very manageable. I would imagine it would get tough in ice though. Just a tip- the second bed is upstairs in the game room. The room doesn't have a door so be aware for noise/privacy reasons. The shower up there was also a small stall shower. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely consider returning. We are very happy we chose to stay in this cabin!

Very clean and inviting. Owner was a pleasure to work with. Both decks offer a great mountain view. A short drive to Pigeon Forge. We would stay here again.

The location and cabin are beautiful!!!

  • 4 of 5

It was a little confusing to find since we got there in the dark. We found the cabin beautiful, well-equipped with necessities as well as indulgences (hot tub, pool table), and comfortable. My only suggestions are curtains in the living room and upstairs due to the other nearby cabins/night-time visibility and an option for recycling (we put recycling in one garbage can and trash in the other). Lastly, our last day was void of most channels; it appeared that the month subscription ran out or something as we were able to watch many channels up until Friday of our stay. Thank you for offering your cabin as accommodations for Smoky Mountains vacations!

Beautifully situated property

  • 4 of 5

We visited this cabin the end of Nov/beginning of Dec for my husband's birthday. We were a bit nervous since the big fire in Gatlinburg happened a few days prior, but the owner called us and assured us it was safe to come. A few properties in the area did have some minor damage, but this one seemed untouched. GPS got us to the approximate location, so it was good the owner sent us some extra directions. Overall we had a great time. The property was well maintained and clean. There were a few small issues that didn't affect our stay: the downstairs toilet seemed to run excessively and the tub didn't have a plug so you could take a bath. I also would have loved to have a cutting board in the kitchen, but it was otherwise well stocked, and we made good use of the dishware provided. Overall the scenery was gorgeous, our first full day there we had a warm, sunny day that felt a lot like September. You could still see a lot of the color on the trees and the sun started to set around 5:30. We did venture out to the Island, but didn't do a ton of walking around. I honestly think just staying at the cabin, playing board games, pool, and sitting in the hot tub was the perfect relaxing vacation we needed. I definitely would recommend, but perhaps earlier into the season so the days feel longer.
