Arenal Lakefront House

Bedrooms 2
Space 92 m²
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This charming two-bedroom, two-bath lakefront home is located on the shore of beautiful Lake Arenal, a scenic 1 hour 10 minute drive from Liberia International Airport. The house is situated on a secluded 1 ½ acre parcel replete with lush tropical flowers, shrubs, and trees. The neighborhood is called Puerto San Luis and is one of the drier areas of the Lake Arenal area. Private yet convenient, it is less than 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Tilarán, where you’ll find banks, supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities.

If you’re looking to rent a house in the Lake Arenal area, there are many choices, BUT – if you want to be right on the lake, the choices are few and far between. That’s what sets this house apart from other rentals. This property is right on the lakefront of the magnificent Lake Arenal, where you can swim, fish, wind surf, kite surf, and kayak (kayak provided). Or – you can pick some limes on the grounds, make a cool drink, and just “veg out” on the terrace, while you watch the monkeys cavorting in the treetops. From the terrace you can see Lake Arenal and from the house you can see the Arenal Volcano.

Comfortable, affordable, spacious yet cozy. You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster and bread machine. The master bedroom has a full bath and queen-sized bed. The second bedroom has a full sized bed. There is a second bathroom, a comfortable living room that has a flat plasma TV with satellite service, a dining area with a large table, and a laundry room with washer and dryer. The house underwent an extensive renovation in 2010. If you need access to the internet, there is wireless internet.

For more information, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can suggest nearby activities such as Rio Celeste, the best kept secret in all of Costa Rica. The light blue river is surrounded by amazing rainforest that sports one of Costa Rica's most beautiful waterfalls, natural hot springs, as well as the unique phenomenon of clear water turning blue by means of a volcanic chemical reaction. We can provide real estate services as well. It will be our pleasure to answer all your questions.

Two Weeks in Costa Rica

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Sullo for two weeks from March 1 to 15, 2015. It is going to be difficult to cover a 14 day stay in a short report for others to read in a few moments. The house is in an ideal location. It sits on a hillside overlooking Lake Arenal. The view from the rear deck is an evening paradise. We spent most evenings sitting there for an hour before sunset enjoying the view and wild life that would drop by for us to see. We had Toucan birds on five different evenings, a howler monkey one evening for an hour before sunset until he settled in for a night’s sleep just above our heads. There are so many different birds that we will never identify all the species.

We did day trips from the house to see a coffee plantation, Hermosa Beach, La Fortuna, Town of Arenal, Frog Hall, Tilaran and a weekend trip to San Jose. The location of Casa Sullo works well for easy trips to many sights in west central Costa Rica. The Puerto San Luis club restaurant is a few hundred feet away and San Jose is a 3 and a half hour drive. Super Market is 15 minutes to Tilaran. The property manager is a phone call away, and if needed is very responsive. She even invited us into her home to see a sloth sleeping in a tree outside her living room. The local people are very friendly and helpful. We never felt that we were anything but secure and welcome.

Casa Sullo is a fully furnished, comfortable two bedroom home. The grounds are lush, and fun to explore. Since we have returned home some of our friends have asked if we would go back again in the future. I answer, absolutely; we have already begun a savings account for just that.

By the way, Pat, the owner, provided a lot of helpful information on what to do and see in the area. He spent a great amount of time on the phone with us before our trip. His guidance was accurate, timely and helpful. Our take away from the whole experience is a warm and peaceful joy for the country, the home, and the wonderful friends that we made in a two week adventure that makes us want to go back. WOW!

Great stay at Lake Arenal.

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home on Lake Arenal was the perfect New Year's Get-a-way. The house is lovely, with all the modern conveniences you could want or need. Everything was immaculate upon my arrival. The property is secure with a fence running around the entire perimeter and the garden is simply lovely. The owner was kind enough to allow me to bring my dogs and we enjoyed walking the gardens, and going down to the lake. The lake side is just 5 minutes from the house, so that was super convenient. The owner and the manager of the property were great to work with, super nice and responsive. This is a superb place to just sit back and relax, read, and watch movies, and enjoy the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. I look forward to returning to this house in the near future.

A Relaxing Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our 5 week stay at this home was great from start to finish beginning with the property manager, Jonie, who made us feel at home immediately. The property is pretty much as described but not quite lakefront by North American standards. The house itself is fantastic with all you need for a comfortable stay. If you are looking for a place to stay in this area do yourself a favor and check it out.

One word of caution if you do stay here - Jonie has set the bar so high that you will likely be disappointed with all other property managers you have in your future travels.

Just fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd year staying at this lovely property...great amenities, especially if you like to cook; well appointed, everything you need. Many quiet evenings on the back patio grilling dinner with a beautiful view of the lake. The property manager, Joannie, was extremely friendly and helpful, and gave us some great recommendations for restaurants. She was very available. The owner Pat, as always prompt in returning messages and giving ideas for day trips. This house is just as represented. We had a terrific time!

Casa Sullo Experience Top Notch

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Sullo on Lake Arenal was top notch in all areas. First, the property manager, Joannie, was an exceptional host. She not only had the property in tip top shape, but she also offered us information - everything from where to buy carne locally, to a great restaurant recommendation, to the local Catholic church services.

The property was perfect for two couples sharing a vacation. We spent much time on the large back patio overlooking the lake and a huge backyard. The landscaping around the house was beautiful and very well maintained. We saw monkeys, Tucans, and many bird species, which was mentioned in the property description and came true before our eyes.

The house was well supplied upon arrival with basics to begin our vacation. Also, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils - everything was thought of from our point of view. The Wi Fi and cable offered good reception and all worked well. There was a very nice grill that we used several times. The laundry facilities worked well and were much appreciated. The house was very, very clean - we did not feel we needed to wash things before using them, as we have had to do at some other properties.

We would highly recommend Casa Sullo when visiting the Lake Arenal area. Oh yes, there is a lovely view of the Arenal Volcano from the front kitchen window - a treat, indeed!

Again, many compliments to Joannie for being our perfect hostess. Also, the owner, Mr. Sullo, was very helpful on everything from the very beginning of our booking. Thank you Pat and Joannie for making our vacation so very special.

Thanks for all your help!

  • 5 of 5

We had a rough start getting to Casa Sulla which had nothing to do with the place. It was such a relief to get there. The place is well kept, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. But the biggest asset is Joannie, the manager. She was so accommodating, even offered to meet us an hour away when we got lost enroute, but her directions got us to the house. It was very late when we finally got there, but Joannie was waiting. She hooked us up with expats who were having Christmas dinner together so we could meet some of the neighbors. It was surprising how many of them had met Joannie and they all had high regard for her.

We made lime juice for breakfast every morning out of the limes on the tree in the backyard. Joannie took the time to show my daughter some of the other fruit trees on the property. One of the expat neighbors showed us the family of monkeys which live in the backyard. And the mom and baby sloth which wander the property.

The view of the lake and mountains from the patio was constantly changing. It was so amazing to watch the clouds come down the mountainside and travel across the lake until we were in the clouds. How many people can say they have stood in clouds. I wish we could have stayed longer.
