midtownflatsnyc is a centrally located townhouse comprising two separate oversized four bedroom apartments each with large living room, dining rooms and fully equipped kitchen. Because there are only two units located within the building this vacation rental is considered a legal vacation rental. Make yourself aware of the short term vacation rental laws in NYC. Beware most apartment rentals in NYC are ILLEGAL since they are located within a building containing 3 apartment units or more. I recommend that you research this yourself on the internet.

Each of the two units are almost identical in their layout and furnishings and were completely gut renovated and modernized in 2013, everything is brand new from the bathrooms to the kitchen to the furniture. Each of the apartments is an oversized duplex and boasts approximately 2000 Square feet (186+ sq meters) of living space. Unlike most New York apartments each apartment is set up with generous common areas allowing your downtime to be a great social experience with friends and family. The apartments are a mix of old world charm and new contemporary flair, complimented by high ceilings, oversized windows, marble fire mantels and brick walls.
Each apartment features four generously sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each of the four bedrooms has comfy queen sized bed with brand new linens including down comforters with 100% high thread count cotton duvet covers and over flowing with pillows. The open living/dining/kitchen area has plenty of seating and a wall mounted plasma screen television. There is a separate dining area with a large table that can seat 8 comfortably. The kitchen is open format with a kitchen island with additional counter seating.
Each apartment has a laundry area with a washer & dryer, iron and ironing board as well as drying racks. All bathrooms have bathtubs and shower featuring tile walls and floors for a clean look and hygienic environment.
The apartments are professionally cleaned before your arrival and uncluttered.
ABOUT THE BUILDING
The building is a beautiful turn of the century old world townhouse that has been completely renovated and modernized in 2013. The building contains only two apartments, an upper apartment and a lower apartment. Each apartment has its own private gated entrance. There is no elevator within the building.

Born and raised in New York City, Lisa has spent the better part of the last twenty five years in the travel industry, managing the travel needs of demanding New York City corporations and luxury vacationers. During her years in New York City, Lisa has purchased and renovated numerous apartments, becoming intimately familiar with New York City real estate market. In 2008, Lisa began renting her investment condos as short term vacation rental properties, finding a natural merge of her two life interests, travel and real estate, while satisfying the needs of families and groups seeking quality vacation apartment accommodations when visiting New York City. In 2011, when New York State passed a new law making short term rentals illegal in Class A buildings, Lisa was forced to immediately cease from renting her apartments short term. Over the course of the following two years Lisa searched New York City seeking the perfect “legal” two family townhouse and in 2013 located, purchased and gut renovated what is now know as “Midtown Flats”. In the years to follow, Lisa then went onto purchase three additional homes in the Hamptons, a beach resort destination located approximately two hours from New York City. These homes are also available for weekly rentals.

The apartment is in a great location, very clean and spacious for 5 of us. Owner was very quick to respond to all questions. Overall we enjoyed our stay, a couple of downfalls; We had no control over the heat, when I called to ask where the controls were we were told they controlled them externally and due to others being in the downstairs apartment they could only lower 1 degree. We had to keep the windows partially open the whole time we were there. Also the mattresses were not comfortable, I ended up on the couch for 2 nights. I really hate to leave anything negative as we really enjoyed out stay but I fell the 2 concerns are big deals when renting.
Wonderful Reunion Weekend in NYC
We had a wonderful 35th class reunion in NYC over the November 10-14th weekend and found the Upper Unit apartment at 347 W 51st to be the perfect accommodation for our group of 8. The apartment was spacious, bright and extremely well located in Midtown West allowing us a fantastic jumping off place for our adventures. The living space allowed the larger group a place to meet on a few evenings as well. Information sent by Lisa ahead of time was invaluable and we were able to maximize our time in the city. The apartment was extremely clean with a good sized, well equipped kitchen, two large bathrooms and laundry facilities on site. I would highly recommend this unit for a group stay in NYC and hope to be back myself in the future!
Extremely spacious, comfortable unit in the heart of it all!
Our first impression when we walked into the unit was "wow"! Having stayed in small, cramped hotel rooms in Times Square, this unit was amazing! Four large bedrooms, a lovely living area, kitchen, dining area, and back deck (which we did not utilize) and two full bathrooms were all perfect for our group! It was comfortable and homey! The location was ideal because we planned to do a lot of walking - there is plenty to do close by - in every direction - we headed toward the pier (Intrepid), Central Park for a run, down to Times Square (for all kinds of activity!) and Broadway - everything we needed was nearby. There are small grocers and plenty of restaurants and bars within the block. The unit itself was extremely clean and well-maintained, the white linens were fresh and we had plenty of towels. We didn't use the washing machine during our 3-night stay, but it is nice to have, if you are staying longer. The instructions sent before the stay were exceptional and provided instructions for the unit itself, but also information about anything you might need during your stay (restaurants, groceries, activities, etc.) During our stay we contacted the owner regarding a few small issues (both the AC and the smoke detector needed batteries) & she responded both times. We loved the secure key-less entry (3 separate locks) - we didn't have to worry about distributing keys or coordinating arrivals. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone headed to NYC! For a little bit more than the cost of a hotel room you get all the comforts of home!
Convenient location/Excellent property
This property was perfect for our stay in NY. There was a bedroom on main floor and 3 bedrooms upstairs. 2 bathrooms. The property is exceptionally clean and extremely organized. Kitchen is well equipped. We ate breakfast there everyday (Food Emporium is just down the street so it was easy for us to stock up on food for the week). Great location - walking distance to theatre district , Times Square. Subway system was so easy to use to get to other places. The owner, Lisa, was very prompt in replying to questions. Some of the things we did while in NY were Central Park, World Trade Central Memorial, Empire State Building, Highline Park, Chelsea Market, saw 2 Broadway shows which were both phenomenal. Would definitely recommend staying at this property to anyone .

Wonderful spacious accommodation for large group.
We were a group of 18, yes 18 women who came from around the world to meet with friends for a week in New York. We used both apartments which provided all we needed for our stay. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen/ living rooms were comfortable and well equipt for us to all be together for breakfast etc.
The location on 51st between 8&9th was excellent for theatre and transport links. Really a terrific find for a top place to stay in New York.
