This ONE OF A KIND retreat is perfect for those with discriminating taste and a desire for high quality. And it's a great romantic getaway. A winning combination of location, quality and price! Why stay in a hotel/motel, or the suburbs that look like any other?

There are over 100 1BR/1BA vacation rentals in the 'Santa Barbara Area' and of these, 77 are supposed to be in 'Santa Barbara'. So how do you chose - location, location, location! And then compare our quality and price.

We are not in Carpentaria, Goleta, Summerland or Montecito. We are also not in the suburbs of Santa Barbara such as San Roque, Mission Canyon, Los Positas etc.

We are in the coveted Historic West Beach area, steps from the beach, Las Banos Public Pool, Stearns Wharf, Harbor, world-class dining, and downtown shops, including our own local farmers market. We are not next to the railroad tracks, highway or on a commercial thoroughfare.

Leave your car and associated traffic/parking worries behind. We even offer RARE off street reserved parking.

The Beach Penthouse resides in a historical turn of the century building and retains the charm of the day’s bygone. It has been lovingly restored to reflect Santa Barbara's style including hand cast plaster, 10 feet vaulted ceilings and Waterford fireplace giving it both a romantic and European feeling.

The large and private terrace has mountain views, along with dining table and chairs, chaise lounges and stainless steel BBQ to enjoy the local favorites.

The fully equipped kitchen was designed with high quality construction, including granite countertops, limestone flooring and custom cabinets from our own local cabinet makers and are complimented with high end appliances: Sub-Zero refrigerator, Espresso Machine, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave and washer and dryer.

The living room has mountain and City sky line views along with queen size pull out couch, 42” TV, CD and stereo.

The bedroom offers a queen bed and across the hall is the accompanying full bathroom that offers a romantic limestone shower with dual head shower, limestone floors, granite counter tops and custom Santa Barbara style cabinets.

When you book with us, you are booking with the owners, which means you are not dealing with a management company, or a 3rd party call center, or a computerized mobile application. Often times the 3rd party does not live in town or even know the property. We know our properties intimately, as we both own and manage them, and have a 15 year track record. Our thirteen five star reviews speak for themselves, including our cleanliness.

Upon booking, directions are emailed along with our contact information, Restaurant Recommendations, Winery and Activities Recommendations and Welcome Notes providing detailed information about the Penthouse are also provided. In this way, you can drive right to the Penthouse, which has a lock box where you’ll use your unique code to enter. There is no need to set up an appointment. Good property with great outdoor space

Really enjoyed this property, as described in a great location with nice outdoor space and good views. 4 stars rather than 5 because the check-in process was a bit confused (received details for wrong property) but this was very quickly corrected. Would stay here again.

Perfect getaway

First, we had a last minute change of plans and Melanie was super flexible to amend our original booking. We stayed in the Penthouse unit which was perfect for our needs and super relaxing. What a neat space and building.

Perfect!!

My husband and I have stayed in the VRBO apartment rental 15620 on two occasions this year (2016); 12 days in June and 9 days in November. We have been so pleased with this apartment. We love that it is on the third floor (top floor) and includes a spacious, outside porch just outside of the kitchen. What a great way to relax! (There is no elevator if that is a consideration, but the stairways are wide enough to comfortably accommodate plenty of room while carrying a suitcase).

The apartment is very comfortable with considerable window coverage so we can see the immediate area and skyline (mountains in the background!). The apartment is very quiet. It is also very well equipped with all you need for any length of stay. The kitchen area is not large, but much cabinet storage for everything you need for any kind of cooking. There is also an outside grill on the porch. There is a dishwasher and clothes washer and dryer just outside the kitchen; That is a terrific treat! The living space is very comfortable and the bathroom is spacious and modern.

The building location is perfect; right in town, a few blocks from the beach and waterfront. We walked everywhere. We explored the side streets and you can get to the Main Street through the city in just a few blocks, as "shortcuts" on various streets are easy to find; and restaurants of all tastes are everywhere and very accessible. If walking is not what you want, public buses are easily accessible. We will be making yearly trips to visit family in Santa Barbara and hope this apartment is available each time.

As a former resident of Santa Barbara for 25 years when I return to visit

I want & need to feel as if I am "home". The Penthouse has not only fulfilled that wish, it has

far exceeded my high expectations. This has been my 3rd stay over a period of 6 years and the

unit is still as perfect now as it was during my 1st stay. The Penthouse has every possible convenience and

appliance, all of which are in perfect condition, that one could ask for. The unit is spotlessly clean & the reservation, check in & check out are simple and easy. I simply can not say enough good things about the Cava's & their properties ! Sterling LeFevre

Location, location, location!

I brought my two school age boys to sports camps being held at UC Santa Barbara. While they were at camp, I made the fidteen minute drive back to be able to work at Melanie's place! Quiet, comfortable, clean and like a home away from home!! And when I needed a change of scenery, State street and my favorite restaurants, boutiques and McConnell's ice cream were three minutes away!! Fantastic!! A very affordable option for a very often unaffordable coastal city!!
