The weather was nice for December. 50's at the beginning of our stay and in the low 70's towards the end. We went to Cade's Cove, The Aquarium and lots and lots of sight seeing. We also would recommend Dick's. My Favorite thing was as soon as we got off the interstate in Sevierville, there was an Awesome Christmas light show. Enjoyed the cabin. Thank you!

Cozy

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I came the Friday after Thanksgiving for our 3rd Anniversary. The cabin is very cozy. It was just what we needed. I cooked a few nights and we ate out the others. It is close to Gatlinburg strip which was great. Thank you for letting us stay. We loved it!

Great cabin, peaceful and quiet but close to attractions

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my stay. The cabin was as advertised and clean on arrival. The drive up the mountain is a bit tricky the first time but my GPS took me right to the door. The mountain laurel along the deck was in bloom and seeing a momma bear with cubs from the deck was priceless. It was good being out of the town and all the traffic and noise. The national park was an easy drive except on weekends due to traffic and people in the town. I would definitely return

Wonderful Cabin - Great Mountain location

  • 5 of 5

We Loved the Sugar Shack. This is the second Cabin we have stayed at owned by the Preskitt's. Great location and great Mountain "feel". Very reasonable and so much more room than staying in a Hotel. This cabin was perfect for us! We loved the Hot Tub. Enjoyed grilling out and cooking meals at the cabin. Clean and cozy! Thank you again! We will be back soon!

Cute Cabin up the mountain :)

  • 3 of 5

This is a very cute and cozy "budget" cabin. Our little family really had a great time there. The drive "up" to the cabin was exciting. We didn't realize just how far up the mountain it was. The higher up the better for us, you get better views. In the snowy season I would recommend a 4x4 or you are not getting up there. One of the negatives I have is that the drive where you park is not by the cabin, it's above the cabin. There are 32 concrete multiple sized steps/stairs to get down to the cabin. We were not aware of this prior to arrival. Unpacking for 5 days, carrying our items back and forth along with an 8 month old was quite a workout. I would suggest noting that somewhere in the rental ad. The inside of the cabin is decorated very nicely, the Amish furniture was really awesome. I want to find some for my own home :) The bathroom shower was newly remodeled as stated but the detachable shower head itself was a bit odd. We had to either hold it and shower or use the band that was attached to hold it at the angle you needed. We stayed in the loft because of the bigger bed and the space to set up our playpen, plus it was really need to wake up and see out of the super large window in front of you. The hot tub was nice. It is underneath the cabin and I would suggest a door/gate or something to make you feel a little more secure. I was scared to use it because I thought a bear was gonna come in there and eat me. The cabin was clean, but could have been cleaner. The top part of the big window was pretty dirty. All in all it was a nice stay. Wasn't what we were expecting but it worked out good for us. Thanks for the stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of our cabin. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The pictures of the front of the cabin were taken from the driveway area and do show that the cabin sits on the side of a hill. We also state the following in our terms and conditions. "25. Parking – Vehicles are to be parked on the Driveway parking area in front of the Cabin." The Driveway is at street level and you do have to walk down a staircase to the front door. At the time of your stay, Bear's are still in hibernation. This cabin is very close to the national forest. We also have this concerning the wildlife in our listing. "This is the mountains and the bears do live here. DO NOT leave garbage bags or food in containers or coolers on the decks or the exterior of the cabin as Raccoons and Bears, and other wildlife will snack on anything left outside!" I have also forwarded your comments concerning the cleaning of the High windows to my cleaners. Thank you for staying with us! Jane
