About this property

Once Upon A Cottage - Easy Portland Access

About this space
Large, Private Cottage for Rent in Amazing Location. Quiet Country Living + Close In Access
The space
THE COTTAGE: Imagine a romantic two room cottage! This is my fairy tale, “Once Upon a Cottage”dream come true! Close your eyes and visualize laying beneath a down quilt with the warm glow of a fire dancing before you whilst you gaze up at the open beam ceiling…
(Our last guest surprised his gal by bringing her here! Sooo romantic!) Give us your arrival time and we’ll make sure the warmth of the fire will welcome you.
You’ll look out on the pasture and surrender yourself to the sounds of the country, you’ll gaze upon the star lit sky…it’s all here, nature’s paradise! This is a completely private cottage with easy access to both Portland & Vancouver, just a bit over a mile from interstate 5. The cottage has a large kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, instant kettle, instant pot…dishes and cooking utensils available.
The shared kitchen in the house is also available for light use. BBQ & Fire Pit available.
There is a port-a-potty in the cottage, however the full bathroom: shower, claw foot tub, etc... is located about 30 feet away inside the main house. Think of it as your own cabin where you can walk out to the common bath house just a stone's throw away.

Yours to rent for a 2 night getaway, a week, a month long stay… or longer. Let me know what you’re dreaming of as I’m open to all ideas!

This truly unique property has the feel of a private oasis, while being close to the I-5 corridor. We love to share our small slice of heaven! Private wooded entry, open fields, barn, and one of a kind stunning 660 sq ft cottage. The over-sized deck offers every opportunity to enjoy the feel of country living. You can rock in the rocking chair, sing or read by a fire inside the cottage or outside at the fire pit, or BBQ your evening meal on the deck.

THE HOME: Split level 1978 Country Home in Ridgefield just 8 mins from the Interstate 5 Fairgrounds exit #9. Close in access, plus amazing, quiet country living. Yes, you can have it all!!! 20 mins drive to downtown Portland in light traffic, easy 12 min drive to Downtown Vancouver, near Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Roomy kitchen inside the house - available for light, limited use. Large 8 acre private property with fenced pasture, trees, a creek, and quiet everywhere! Look out on our sweet cows grazing in the pasture who will gladly follow you anywhere if you’re kind enough to bring them an apple or two. Our animals love to be petted or fed: Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys... our pets feed us breakfast - the freshest, most wonderful eggs ever! Have you ever seen a turkey egg?
Plenty of private parking. Located close to Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, Yard N’Garden, Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge, AND a magnificent vineyard right nextdoor available for wine tasting...
No smoking of anything or drugs on the property.
YOU: Like animals, enjoy the peace and quiet afforded by the country, while having EASY access to Vancouver, Portland, Hiking & Recreation Areas. Interested in the environment and recycling. Might be interested in good conversation. Don't smoke or use drugs while here. Use alcohol responsibly.
OUR FAMILY: We are two hard working adults: one RN, one carpenter/geologist. We recycle. We keep a tidy, clean house. We work outside the home, and work from home, and don't mind other schedules, but quiet hours are from 10pm-6am. We definitely try to minimize noise on our end and adhere to the quiet hours. We almost never (TV gathers lots of dust) watch TV, and have a subscription to Netflix which we also never use. We prefer to be outdoors - gardening, tending our poultry, and living an active life. If interested in our AirBnb, please send an inquiry.
Guest access
Limited, light kitchen use in the main house, fire pit, and BBQ. Please know that the county burning ban goes into affect June 1st and lasts throughout the summer, so that can sometimes limit fire pit usage unfortunately.
Other things to note
House rules:

No smoking of anything - zip, zilch, nada! Don’t even think about it! None inside, none outside.., smokers - if the smell of smoke is on your clothes, it gets communicated to our bedding and that’s not going be acceptable. If you smell like an ashtray, that’s just plain yucky 🤢- you will likely be asked to leave. This is not a gray area. In other words, don’t do it.

No extra guests without permission, no partying.

This is the county folks - music comes from the frogs, owls and crickets, lights come from the stars, and joy comes from nature.
