I love the detail and art put into this place. It has everything you need and more, while remaining really private and secluded from the world. If you need supplies there is a shopping mart very close by. Its simply a great getaway with perfect desert views of the sunset and stars. Caretaker is amazing and super tentative, while still giving yourself the privacy you need. Can't wait to comeback here
This property was truly amazing. We made discoveries about the charming oddities in the house every day. It is remarkably functional given its unusual make up and in the rare instance where something stopped functioning Tim was right there to get it working again. I would not recommend this house to people with small children or people who are unsteady on their feet, but recommend it heartily to anyone else who is looking for stay in the desert that will make you feel like you are a thousand miles from civilization even though town is only 15 minutes away. The ingenuity and creative expression that this house exude will be an inspiration.
We had a great time at this incredible house and its cosmic hot tub. Was my second time staying here, and the experience was just as magical as the first! Especially appreciated the seemingly unlimited clean towels and firewood. Do yourself a favor and rent this place for your Joshua Tree getaway :)
We really enjoyed our stay at this magical property! So much love and attention to detail in every room! The cowboy hot tub and full moon were a killer combo as well. Thanks to the renters and property managers for making sure we would have a great stay.
I can not say enough good things about my stay!
For anyone who wrote a bad review, it's obvious that you did not read the reviews and know what you were getting yourself into.
A four star hotel it is not, but you will find a one of a kind experience you can't replicate anywhere!
The best way to describe the house and feel is like the first time you walked into Knotts Berry Farm or Disneyland as a kid (except made for adults).
It's magical and exciting. It takes you to a different time and place and sets the perfect back drop for a beautiful get away in Joshua Tree.
It's close enough to groceries and great hiking spots but once back on the property it feels like it is just you and the desert.
Tim (the handyman) was nice enough to drop in when we got there to let us know he was available any time and made sure we were set for the weekend.
The stars were amazing and we played games all night in the open living room.
The only negative is that we couldn't stay longer.
I would highly recommend this home and can't wait for our next stay!
The proximity to the park, quiet beauty of the natural surroundings and innovative architecture of the house make this a perfect place for a getaway. We loved all the sculptures and quirky, clever architectural elements of the house. Considering the owner used all salvaged materials, the house is surprisingly functional. All of the amenities were there. A few things to keep in mind about the house: 1.The fireplace does not have a very good draw, even when flue is fully open. 2. Hot tub is hot and could be awesome but when we arrived, it was really dirty and not very inviting. We called the caretaker and he came over right away but unfortunately, the pool cleaning vacuum doodad was not charging properly so getting the pool clean was just not in the cards. 3. A sliding door separates the living room from the master bedroom and provides visual privacy but absolutely no sound barrier. No matter...we still had a fantastic time but these are some things to keep in mind if you're traveling with a group.
