About Deborah Vazquez
Experienced global travelers, beach and Island connoisseurs, seeking freedom from stress as close to home as possible and finding it in beautiful, magical Eleuthera
Deborah Vazquez purchased this House in 2005
Why Deborah Vazquez chose Governor's Harbour, The Bahamas
Eleuthera is a Greek word that stands for 'freedom' and that is exactly the feeling you have when you visit this beautiful island and its wonderful people.
What makes this House unique
Close to to the US, yet a pace that is 50 years back in time, in an unspoiled paradise. We built this house from the ground up on a very unique spot on the island. We wanted privacy, yet we wanted to be close to the best amenities and establishments on the island. We found this amazing spot, where you don't feel you are in the middle of nowhere too far from everything yet you have the best of that world too in a central island setting with unparraleled views, swimming and snorkeling right at home.

Very nice well appointed home on Caribbean side of island
Really enjoyed our stay. We never visited the caves because even the teens thought there were too many spiders on the path lol but otherwise we took advantage of some good snorkeling on property down a windy path through the "jungle" and the central location let us enjoy several other beaches on island as well.
Beautiful location and home
We've been to Eleuthera a number of times over the past few years and this was our absolute favorite location and home. Its the perfect location and setting. Amazing views from the porch, short drive to our favorite beaches and dining spots. Check in was seamless and the house had everything we needed and then some. Had fun snorkeling the Caribbean side, just a short walk down to the water. We are already daydreaming about a return trip. Thanks for making this secluded paradise setting available. A perfect way to experience Eleuthera.
Outstanding value, gorgeous view, great location on the island. I will book again next year!!
Wonderful home away!
Everything we needed was right there at home! Well, except a sandy beach but that is a 10 minute drive (go into GH and left up Hayes St just before the gas station, then right at the "stop sign" top of hill) Truly, the diving was better right off the house...we saw tons of seas urchin..had to brush them out of the way to get into the water! Starfish, Angel fish, Grouper Tang, Skate and many others I did not recognize. The baby fishes use the wall of oolyte to stay safe so there were schools of tiny fish as well.
The view from the porch is 180 degrees of ocean. We watched the sunset and rain showers from there under the fans to enhance the breeze, had meals and read out there listening to mourning doves. The no seeums were out but not too bad for most of us and there was bugs spray in the house (rumor has it that babyoil works, maybe take a small bottle and let me know?)
Kitchen is FULLY equipped , and even has a lot of spices already there for you, which is a rare bonus for those who like to cook.
Buying food on the island was a challenge till we found Island grocery at the Shell station...they had everything! I would suggest you freeze and pack your meats at home as those options are limited and costly at most stores and surprisingly little fresh fish.
It takes 7 minutes to drive to GH from the house and quite a few restaurants . We like to eat local, so tried the Blue Room and 4 Friends...learned that "cracked" anything means fried. Though both were good, we did the take away option and took it to the waterfront where there are a few picnic tables...the restaurants themselves were very hot and stuffy- no AC. Best meals were had at the Buccaneer Club (voted best hamburger by my family) portions are very large, setting is lovely, service was super. Up the beach road we found Bacchus fine foods which had a nice breakfast menu and cheese and salami for snacking (not available elsewhere)
One of THE BEST parts of this property was working with Deborah to get set up. I have used several sites over the years and rented many homes but never had a property owner be so responsive and thoughtful. She always responded within and hour or less and no question was too small...I feel like I made a new friend. Will definitely try to return to GH and will definitely stay with her another time, this was a wonderful home away!
Great stay in Paradise
The house is beautiful, comfortable, and clean. We have two (almost) adult children who love to have their own space and this fit the bill. Seating and beds were comfortable. Great patio with beautiful views and a great place to have breakfast. The water is exceptional. The snorkeling was awesome. Water was so calm and clear. We saw starfish, rays, and colorful fish! My kids have been snorkeling before but never enjoyed it this much.
Great places to eat close by, organic farm with the BEST cinnamon rolls on Tuesdays and Fridays just about 10-15 minutes away. Caretaker was so easy to contact and very responsive to the few questions we had. You cannot go wrong with this place. It feels private, but close enough to other houses that you are not isolated. Absolutely great stay!
You will not hate this place! It has great views, snorkeling!
The place is named appropriately - Paradise Pointe! We fell in love with the place and with Eleuthera. It was our 1st trip to the Bahamas and to Eleuthera. It was everything we thought it would be. First of all, working with Deborah was great! She is quick to respond and the details she provides for the house are great...she also sends info on places to get groceries and a lot of other helpful info to help make your stay enjoyable. The moment we came down the driveway towards the house, we saw the 3 story tower and a look at the Caribbean Sea and I knew this was going to be a great place to stay! What a view! The lanai is perfect for watching stunning sunsets or to just listen to the sea. The house is clean, comfortable, and has everything you need - kitchen tools, beach chairs, towels...we found everything in working order. Did a lot of snorkeling right in front of the house - nice little trail to get to the water. Saw Stingrays, Yellowrays, several Barracuda, and a plethora of other fish! The top of the tower gives you a glimpse of the Atlantic on the other side of the island too.
The house is located a couple of miles north of Governors Harbor - we could be in town in about 5-8 minutes. It's about an hours drive south from North Eleuthera airport. There are MANY great beaches to visit on the island. What we loved most about Eleuthera is that its not touristy, it's laid back, and the people are really friendly! Our flight arrived at 1pm, by 3pm, we were in the water! I could seriously see myself living there - I've been to 30 countries, so there's a frame of reference! It was a great experience...and one we hope to do again soon! My wife and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this winter...we were looking at Maui and Kauai, but now we're giving thought of coming back to Eleuthera. There is no doubt we'll be back to the island.
I'd like to not give this review so we could keep this gem to ourselves! LOL But seriously, I'd highly recommend this house for you to stay in...centrally located on the island, it's clean and comfortable...and QUIET! I'd give it 10 stars if that was possible! Thank you Deborah for providing such a beautiful place to stay in and we are looking forward to our next visit there!
This house is one of a kind. Rare to find a modern, clean new home with this many amenities in a top location. We are 2-3 miles from Governor's Harbour airport and 4 miles from Cupids Cay in the very center of Eleuthera, the original capital of the Bahamas. Great amenities nearby including Sky Beach Club with restaurant and infinity pool bar, Coco Di Mama restaurant and Receiver's beach, Banana beach, and the new French Leave Marina, infinity pool and bar just 3 miles away.
Other Activities: snorkeling (life coral reef and amazing sea life right in your backyard, large caves on property, 3 story 360 degree viewing tower right on premise and 3 hiking trails through our 10 acre property with over 400 linear feet of Caribbean waterfront! See rare birds and dolphins right from our 600 ft balcony.
