Luxurious Guest House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
Why Owner chose Carmel Valley
The Guest house is a 20 minute drive from the Monterey Peninsula airport. Just off Carmel Valley Road, it is exactly 10 miles from the intersection of Carmel Valley Road with California Highway 1. From the airport, however, the best approach is to drive east on California Highway 68 to Laureles Grade, turn right and go over the grade, which ends at Carmel Valley Road.

Conscientious and generous hosts with a lovely house in a gorgeous setting.
MISERABLE! The photos are deceiving! Our stay was horribly uncomfortable.
Who puts a bathroom in the middle (literally!) of guest quarters?! To reach the living room/kitchen, or back bedroom, you had to walk through the bathroom. Sure, it was beautiful marble, but the toilet was in the middle of the room, and there was no privacy without having to close sliding doors into the bedroom at one end, and the living room at the other. The shower looks impressive, but the cold water was HOT! The shower I took this morning was a notch below scolding. I kept trying to get cooler water, and realized when the same hot water came our of the sink, that my efforts were futile. There is radiant heat in the bathroom, but there are no instructions for turning it on, and once you do figure it out, there is no way to tell the temperature. When we arrived we found the lighting switches sophisticated but challenging. they were just strange. There were no instructions or labels on switches, so we made do by trial and error. The place was horribly stuffy, and you may have noticed that the windows were all high. So high, that in the beginning I inquired if the unit was in a basement. No basement, but inaccessible windows. To open or close them, we stood on chairs, and the screen needed to be opened before opening/closing the window. We tried turning on the fan (no A/C) but that didn't help. We ended up opening doors, and were concerned about letting in bugs. When it was time to watch TV (no TV in the bedroom) we tried several of the remotes, to no avail. Again, we look for instructions. There weren't any to be found. I called the owner and she (to her credit) came right over. She got the TV going, so we isolated the one remote that operated it. We noted that the picture on the TV was skewed, and the sound was delayed, and of poor quality. While there the owner seemed annoyed that we had turned on the fan in hopes of getting the unit ventilated. "It will just blow in more warm air, it won't cool this off. Its noted in the description, that we don't have A/C. This won't help."and she turned it off. She then went into the bathroom, and noticed that we had climbed up on a chair and tried to turn on the small ceiling fan. "This is for when you take a shower. It only gets the humidity out.", and she turned it back down. In an attempt to get some air moving Jea (the owner) did turn on the two free standing oscillating fans. The bed was soft, and had a down comforter, but with the central toilet and no air, we we miserabl
Great little gem in a great location.
Wonderful experience and wonderful owners.
Private guest house but might not be for everyone
Let me start by saying that we pay close attention to detail. The guest house is cozy for 2 people and has everything you would need for a short stay. The owners were very pleasant. However, there were several things we felt could be improved upon, especially for the price. There were quite a few light bulbs that were out which seems like a simple fix. The bed was too soft for us but that is a personal preference. We had to leave the windows open at night to be able to sleep and the road noise was quite loud. However, we are light sleepers. It would have been nice to use the fan but it was so dusty we opted not to. We would have spent more time outside but the yard and patio were not inviting. Wasn't all that clean and lots of spider webs. There were lots of positives but unfortunately not enough for us to give a 5 star review.
Short stay in Carmel Valley
The guest house in Sunny Carmel Valley was charming and quiet. The host Jae was easy to work with and very responsive to my questions. The guest house is beautifully decorated with high end modern fixtures and appliances. It's a peaceful setting within a two-mile drive to the quaint Carmel Valley village with restaurants, wine tasting and shops. I would definitely recommend the guest house for couples and/or a single person while enjoying sunny Carmel Valley.
Beautiful Cottage in Charming Garden
We stayed in this charming cottage apartment for a weekend. Everything was just as described. Jae and her husband happily welcomed us, let us hold and play with their dog and chatted with us about the property. They have a lovely deck, hot tub, lavender field, BBQ and garden. It was a beautiful location, right in the heart of Carmel Valley. Short drive to downtown Carmel Valley where there are yummy tasting rooms. About 15 minutes to Carmel by the Sea. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was beautifully done with white towels and a spa like feel. Water and soda in the refrigerator as well as fresh fruit on the counter. It did not have coffee though there was a coffee maker. We had everything we needed and hope to stay on our next visit!
