We continuously update our place and recently installed flat screen TVs. The balcony is a delightful spot to have breakfast and watch the sunrise. And while the sun sets on the other side of the island, it is still incredible to enjoy the beauty of dusk. Our villa is accessed via five flights of stairs.

About the Owner

We have been enjoying the serene, calmness that is 'Catalina' for several years. We visit as often as is possible when work and life don't get in the way! Beginning at the time we arrive at the boat dock, we feel like we have travelled to a distant island and we shift into island mentality, relaxation and fun.

Thank you for sharing 236 Hamilton Cove. The property amenities attracted me more than anything compared to hotels in Avalon but I was concerned if it was worth the price. I had no idea the place was so beautiful. Also, the golf cart is a luxury item there and now I know why all the owners have one. Your recommendations were spot on as well.

Again, thank you for sharing this beautiful place.

Beautiful, relaxing-quite a hike up the stairs-therefore 4 stars

We stayed in this condo over labor day weekend. It was as the pictures showed. Clean, comfortable, well stocked for the most part. Great service from Karen. She was right on top of our arrival and everything was in place for our check in. The view was amazing. The doors and windows allowed a nice ocean breeze. The mattress is very hard but has a 2" foam pad over it. For us, too soft, but without was too hard. Steps from below where the golf cart is parked is long-88 steps. From above, it is a 74 step walk down. You really need to have good knees for this condo.

It was a very busy time on the island. We took the Helicopter over. It was a 10min flight opposed to a 90 min boat ride. Worth it. You get a discount for birthdays and anniversaries. Hamilton cove is away from all the hustle and bustle of Avalon on a holiday weekend. We enjoyed breakfast every morning on the balcony overlooking the ocean. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. We never turned on the TV. We used the 4 seater golf cart to explore Hamilton cove, Avalon and enjoyed dinner in town each night. We took the safari bus to Two Harbors. That was a worthwhile trip. We saw many Bison and the views are amazing. Chico, the driver on the last leg between Little Harbor and Two Harbors is a character. Very enjoyable day. Lunches at the Sandtrap (great margaritas), Harbor Reef restaurant and bar in Two harbors(lots of bees at the bar), Luau Larry's(great drinks). Dinners at Ristorante Villa Portofino, Lobster Trap, Bluewater Avalon, Steve's steakhouse Bar and Grill. Fresh fish was sea bass-amazing at both Lobster trap and Bluewater. We explored the museum and took a backstage tour of the casino. Both worth doing-especially my dance in the amazing ballroom with Frank, our guide! :). There are many watersports to partake. Check out Descanso. We chose not to. We were more interested in relaxation. We got it. Only negative was a loud neighbor but they stopped promptly at 10pm. Like I said earlier, it was a busy holiday weekend. I have been to Hamilton Cove in the past and it was very quiet. Vons is the only grocery store. Stock up early. (new store going to be built-don't know when). Only gas station is at Pebbly Beach, hours are limited, look in the guide on the desk for details. Water shortage on the island is real. Be gentle with your water use.

I recommend this condo for two. Four might be a little cozy. However, you really need fit knees for the stairs. It is a hike.

Amazing ocean view!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this condo over the 4th of July holiday and had a fabulous time. The golf cart made traveling between Avalon and the condo complex easy. There is so much to do in town that coming back to the serenity of Hamilton Cove made for a very relaxing stay. The condo was well stocked, clean, and comfortable.

Thanks for letting us use your home!

Beautiful view!

  • 4 of 5

I brought my two teen-aged daughters to this condo for a long weekend. The condo was fully equipped and provided everything that we needed. The view was amazing and we will stay again. The golf cart made the trip.

Some things to note:

* Hamilton Cove is a 5 minute golf cart ride to town. I wouldn't recommend walking.

*The condo doesn't provide beach towels as hotels that I have stayed in on the island does. I wish I would have packed some.

* There is NO air conditioning and it was very hot while we were there so we really could have used the air conditioning.

*The balcony is shared so I didn't feel comfortable leaving the French doors open at night (again, no air conditioning) so it wasn't the most comfortable sleeping.

* Be prepared for a lot of steps. My daughters counted 88 steps to get down to golf cart.

* Bed was comfortable but loud. It woke me up each time I rolled over.

This is the perfect property for a nice long weekend in Catalina (or longer!). Don't under estimate the value of having your own golf cart, its brilliant.

Given the opportunity, we will stay here again!

Great time and beautiful Condo in a tranquil setting.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time in this Condo in Hamilton Cove in Catalina over the Memorial Day weekend and then for the rest of the week. The condo is perfect, full kitchen with everything you need, bathtub/shower combo for the kids, laundry machine/dryer (shared with other condos) and a closet chock full of playthings for the pool, tennis racquets, croquet equipment, and extra bedding. The use of the golf cart is essential as Hamilton Cove is away from the city of Avalon and after driving to town and all over the place, we only had to fill it at the sole, exorbitantly-priced gas station ($6.29 a gallon) at the end of the week with 1 1/2 gallons to fill it to the top. Over the course of the week, I came to conclude that the beautiful, clear watered island of Catalina is stunningly beautiful every single day, but it also becomes overcome with varying ebbs and flows of a mix of drinking partiers, older and younger foreign tourists, cruise ship visitors and grizzled locals that change the vibe of town. When a cruise ship dumps loads of tourists, it's a little crowded and crazy, but as the other reviewer said, it's quite tranquil in the HC complex. On the weekend (Memorial Day, though, so it may have been more busy than ever), the drunken partiers are thick and ubiquitous and at Hamilton Cove, the partiers are obnoxious, profane, and hang out on their decks loudly and at the pool with no regard to children around or anything other than their own self-absorbed, obnoxious interests. All in all, Hamilton Cove is an exquisitely-maintained gated complex that is ideal for a family, with a manicured (raked) sand playground area, tennis courts, a croquet area, a little rocky beach area, and its own pier that is clean and tidy. This condo felt incredibly safe and tranquil. Karen was great with excellent communication and we will definitely make it a yearly tradition. I have some tips for your consumption after a week here: terrible drought so buy your own water at Vons, only one bank on the island so use Vons cash back with your debit card to avoid extra charges, the hikes are beautiful and not too difficult, Ben's Bakery had the best coffee, I thought.
