About Sally Weed

I am a fifth generation Northern Californian from the Central Valley. After living in Oakland and working in San Francisco for many years, I moved to the Dry Creek Valley in 2006 to devote my time to farming and crafting.

Sally Weed purchased this chateau / country house in 1998

Why Sally Weed chose Sonoma County

This is a special place, nestled in a side canyon of the Dry Creek Valley. Grape creek, a seasonal stream that provides habitat for steelhead as well as many other aquatic creates and birds, runs through the benchland portion of the property. The house is nestled into the side of the hill where the oak woodland begins to transition to redwood, madrone, and douglas fir forest.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Great environment for walking, both on trails within fenced property (dogs can run safely off-leash!) and also in the immediate neighborhood. Four very nice wineries (Michel Schlumberger, Mounts, Quivira, and A. Raffanelli) are within easy walking distance (but do call ahead to confirm hours and also to make an apointment if needed). A nice longer walk (just under two miles) gets you to the Dry Creek General Store (and the adjacent awesome local bar where EVERYONE is welcome!) where you can pick up snacks, picnic food/sandwiches, cold and hot beverages. Open for morning coffee at 6:30am! If you bring or rent bicycles, the options are awesome, too. Take a spin up to Lake Sonoma and there is a nice climb up into the Rockpile AVA. Another great trip is over Canyon Road into Geyserville for lunch at Diavola. The cycling options are truly as diverse as your dining options in Healdsburg! I am happy to make recommendations about local restaurants and day trips as well. When you are here, you will feel like you are truly Out in the Country but you can be on the freeway in six minutes from my front gate and you can get to the Healdsburg Plaza (the beautiful tree-encircled town all summer on Tuesday nights) in twelve minutes. I love living in Healdsburg, and I know you will love it too!

Incredible, serene, relaxing and breathtaking views....everything you see in the pictures and more!

  • 5 of 5

Sally's Dry Creek Farm is absolutely breathtaking with so much character, tranquility and fun. My family came to watch both myself and my best friend race Santa Rosa 70.3 Ironman. The home was so comfortable for all of us, we really didn't want to venture out. However, wine tasting, our race and all the amazing restaurants in Healdsburg were on the schedule. The location is wonderful for the Ironman 70.3 event since we were 9 miles from the swim start. The town of Santa Rosa just 20 minutes away. The best wineries and restaurants were all in our backyard. Dry Creek Road has the best known wineries and Healdsburg, just a few miles, is a foodies and doggy lover's dream.

The three rooms hold so much character, each unique with their own flavor and every bed was SO comfortable. I am very picky with my bed especially when I am racing. The bathrooms are spacious and clean with great water pressure and the jacuzzi is AWESOME! The main room has the amazing view of the vineyards as seen in the picture and the small nook with the TV is very comfortable for times when you want to watch TV, which we rarely did.

Sally is a fabulous home owner and is readily available if/when you need her but keeps her distance should you want your privacy. We really enjoyed her company and invited her up. She loves her grounds with all it's beauty and history and will be happy to share should you be so inclined.

Whether you are traveling for the Ironman event, seeking the best wineries and restaurants or wanting to get away to beauty and serenity, this is the place for you. I highly recommend Dry Creek Farm. I can't wait to go back.

Perfect Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We could not have enjoyed our stay at Dry Creek Farm more. It had all the charm we could wish for on our anniversary couples weekend. The house and grounds are lovely and is away from the town but only 10 minutes away and very close by many great wineries. It was just as beautiful as the pictures. We cooked here the 6 of us two night and found all the cooking supplies we needed. Sally was helpful, friendly and easy to work with from the get go. I can't think of one complaint, I highly recommend it!

Wonderful Long Weekend in Dry Creek

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Dry Creek Farm which probably tells you all you need to know about our thoughts about staying there. And if there is any doubt, there will be more trips in the future if our girls or our dog have anything to say about it.

Wonderful home with an amazing kitchen. The views are wonderful. Idyllic way to spend time in Dry Creek.

Dry Creek Farms is everything you’d expect in a wine country retreat and much, much more. From the moment we drove through the gated property, passing vineyards, to the house on a knoll, we knew we had found our ultimate vacation home. The location is ideal as you are close enough to downtown Healdsburg but you feel a million miles away (We even got an Uber pick up/drop one night). The remodeled house is quite lovely and inviting from the second you walk through the red front door. There is a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of lounging spaces (dining area, living room, media room and sun porch). The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Each bedroom is quite generous in size and two have amazing views. But let’s be honest, it’s the outside, jaw-dropping view that will captivate your soul. The living room and kitchen face a spacious lawn, pool, hot tub, and pergola area that have incredible views of the valley below. There is no need for TV when the best entertainment is to sit outside on the patio furniture, drink wine, take in the vista and talk with friends. The location is quiet and VERY private. You can turn on the outdoor speakers and play your favorite music (connect to your iPhones). Every evening, when the sun set, we enjoyed a couple bottles of wine with a cheese plate while listening to jazz. We had plans to go into Healdsburg for dinners but ended up staying on property almost every night. The weather was spectacular. We cooked in the kitchen and ate outside. There is even a little herb garden on the side of the house for fresh tomatoes, rosemary, etc. And once darkness set in, we turned off all the lights and enjoyed the stars. I must add that every morning we went for a run on property and through the adjoining vineyards. We thought about doing Yoga on the lawn but we were too lazy.

The owner of the property, Sally, is such a kind person. She was more than accommodating in helping us plan this trip. She even made recommendations for activities, winery visits, and restaurants. You can tell customer service is her top priority as she loves the area and wants all of her guest to have the best vacation. Although Sally was at our beck and call, we were pretty self-sufficient as we had no issues with the house.

We were here for a girls weekend. But something tells me we’ll all be back with family and/or friends to create more memories.
