We are a couple living in Billings, MT, married in 2004 with a dog named Bromley.

Why Alicia Pearson chose Puntarenas
We have been taking vacations in Santa Teresa since 2006. The area is the perfect vacation spot. We enjoy surfing, riding ATVs, and hiking up waterfalls. We purchased this property because it is a very well constructed home, and has the best views in the area. The sound of the ocean carries right up to the pool deck, and you are away from the dust on the main road.
What makes this house unique
This home is very private, however it is still a very close walk to all of the amenities that Costa Rica has to offer - world class surfing, fine dining, boating, fishing, canopy tours, jungle hikes, and so much more.

Awesome place, perfect location.
We traveled to Costa Rica in Late April and stayed 4 nights at this place in Santa Teresa. We were 3 couples (6 people total) and it worked out perfect for each couple to have their own bedroom. It was very hot and very dry on the Nicoya Peninsula with it being the end of dry season, I would love to come back when the area is much more lush and verdant. With that said, it was a godsend to have a pool and A/C units in the bedroom. The units cool down the rooms very quickly, therefore we could turn them on as needed and conserve energy. We were able to drive up the hill easily in the Daihatsu Terios, these cars have 4WD but we didn't even need to turn it on to get up the hill. You definitely don't need to rent ATVs for the week unless if you don't have a rental car and don't feel like walking up the hill/ The location is perfect because you are away from the noise and dust of the main street without being far away from the best beach and restaurants. We ate one evening at Brisas Del Mar just down the hill, this restaurant is phenomenal albeit a bit pricy. Habaneros was a great place to go for a sunset dinner and tasty margaritas. We did breakfast at The Bakery one of the days and the other 3 days cooked breakfast at the house. Be careful when reaching for the dishes, as we did find a scorpion tucked behind a cutting board. My biggest critiques of the house are the lack of real cabinets in the kitchen to keep the dishes clean and scorpions out and that the second bathroom is not air conditioned or even well ventilated. We did a 24 hour surf board rental which was a blast and another day rented ATVs and did a big loop around the peninsula, visiting Montezuma and much more. I don't know that I will be returning to Costa Rica anytime soon, but if I did, I would definitely stay at this property again.
Quiet, scenic and yet near the action in Santa Teresa
There was a lot to like about this place. If your heart is set on Santa Teresa, the location is excellent. It’s a short walk down a (very daunting) hill to the grocery store, bakery, restaurants and beach. Still, we preferred to drive (4 x 4 recommended) as we tended to dodge Santa Teresa potholes and head to Playa Hermosa where the calmer surf was better suited to our kids.
We visited during the dry season and it was mighty hot during the day. That’s when the small pool is a winner. Our whole family loved jumping in to cool off. And in the evenings, we would convene in the main room for meals and card games.
There are a couple of things about this stop on our vacation that are worth noting for other travelers. First, each of the bedrooms has a separate entrance. Since we have young kids, that made us a little nervous—that they might have to come in and out of their room (and pass the pool) in the night to use the bathroom. So, we put them in the master with attached bath. Second, if you are planning to cook at home, you’ll need to buy oil, salt, sugar, coffee, etc. I suppose we’ve grown accustomed to expect these basics be available, and if you’re only staying a short time, over-buying these basics is a minor frustration.
Those proved minor inconveniences for us weighed against the beautiful, modern home and first-rate location. Plus, the owner was extremely responsive and easy to work with... based on our research, if you're headed to Santa Teresa, this place will be hard to beat.
Montana family vacation in Costa Rica!
The home was very nice! We have three boys and we all really enjoyed the pool and everyone had their own comfy bed with AC. The caretakers took very good care of us and the pool was very well kept! We had more than enough dishes ,cups, appliances etc that we needed. The sunset view from the house was amazing! We rented a Toyota RAV4 with 4 wheel drive which worked well for the steep hill up to the house:-) We all really enjoyed where the house is located...out of the dust! I would really love to stay at your home again in the future and had a blast in Santa Teresa!!!
Trust me, you want to stay here!
I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone. My boyfriend and I spent one week here in February, we felt quite lucky to have such a large place to ourselves as it does sleep 8 very comfortably. Each room is its own contained unit making it great for 3-4 couples travelling together.
We chose to fly with Air Sansa from San Jose to Tambor where we met our taxi to Santa Teresa. This leg of trip in its self is an adventure. Our ATV's for the week were dropped off at the house upon our arrival and were picked up the day we left - our taxis, activities, dinner reservations & ATV's were all set up by the house manager who did a great job communicating with us and ensuring we were using the best companies. The sunsets and view alone from the pool were worth every penny. The road to the house is quite steep as mentioned and we were happy to have ATV's rather than a rental car.
- Tortuga island with Zumatours, we saw pilot whales, dolphins, blowfish and Macaws.
- The spa at Florblanca as well as the restaurant - we had lunch and dinner on the beach there *you can use there pool and beautiful beach area with bar service.
- ATV from house to Montezuma, don't miss the big Strangler Fir, monkeys or splashing through the rivers.
- Kojis has a nice dinner atmosphere and their sushi isn't too bad either, make a reservation.
***Lots of places are cash only and except US and Colones.
The rooms are simple and exactly what you need. Comfortable, clean queen beds. The caretakers are excellent and skim the pool each day as well as general tidy the house and garbages. Our laundry was even hanging out to dry when we got home most days. The kitchen, dining and living area is a great space too. Honey and Camilla are two canine frequent visitors, we loved having them stop by along with some horses, a bull frog, humming birds - lots of birds and lizards.
I'm sure anyone would love their time at this property. It's private yet close to everything you need.
This property is fantastic. We had such a great time. The view is unbeatable and the pool is amazing. The unit is very clean, thanks to the excellent caretakers. We spent a lot of money on water, I would try to pay a little extra next time to have the water jug refilled regularly - after the first one is used you are responsible for refills and we couldn't get it up the hill on quads so ended up buying many smaller jugs. The Wi-Fi will last a couple days, longer if you don't use it too much. I really have no complaints. About the area - The ferry ride from Puntarenas to Paquera is very fun! Best part of the journey there. I would suggest taking a taxi after the ferry right to Santa Teresa. We rented quads to get up the hill because it is VERY steep. Luckily our first taxi was able to make it but after that you definitely need an atv. They are also great for getting around to see the sights - must have. We went fishing with Jose at Sport Fishing Tours in Mal Pais - I would definitely recommend, we caught 5 mahi mahi our first morning out. For an amazing meal I would suggest the restaurant at Hotel Buenos Aires, they will even cook up your Mahi Mahi that you caught. Absolutely fantastic. Would recommended this property and area to everyone!
Beautiful and spacious rental home
This beautiful property is located on the top of a small mountain with incredible views of Santa Teresa beach.
The house has a very nice and well maintained outdoor pool. Nice decor and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. Great water pressure from the master bathroom shower.
You will need a 4X4 vehicle as the non-paved road to get to house is quite steep.
Walking distance to and from the beach is about 15 min. To get back to the house by foot you may have to be in some physical condition for the fun hike.
Bring your own music and movies to play there.
Better if you bring groceries from town but there are close by small stores that may have what you need to cook there.
Good restaurant options within minutes from the house and ATM and bank close by.
An amazing experience for a 7 day stay.
