Property Details

Updated: Jul 27, 2016
This beautiful home can sleep up to 6 persons with use of Guest Cottage.

Located in the hills above of Santa Barbara between the city and the sea, this authentic adobe was built in the mid 1950's by master Adobero, Senor Aguilar. With panoramic views of the city and mountains and a peek of harbor, this welcoming home will provide you with the quintessential Santa Barbara vacation! You enter the property through old Mesquite Gates and descend to the private courtyard, complete with fountain, citrus trees and barbecue. This is a perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon naps or a casual dinner. The main house has two bedrooms, each with a private bath. The master has a king bed, and the second bedroom has a queen. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with a Viking range and professional appliances for any discriminating cook. On the view side of the property you will find a terrace and 'sit in' stone fire pit with stunning vistas of the city and mountains. The property also has a guest cottage that can accommodate two more persons. It contains an extra long twin trundle, full bath, and secluded terrace with mountain and city views. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE USE OF THE GUEST COTTAGE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH STAYS OF 30 DAYS OR LONGER, EXTRA CHARGES APPLY. ALSO, IT IS NEVER RENTED TO A SEPARATE PARTY FROM THE MAIN HOME. ) The home is less than a 7 min drive to the beach or downtown and has three flat screen TV's with satellite HD TV service, internet access, central heat and off street parking. Relaxing and peaceful; beautiful home with thoughtful attention to detail.

  • 5 of 5

Mark’s Hilltop Adobe is really something special. The home and property are beautiful and meticulously maintained. It includes soft comfy bedding, a fully stocked kitchen, multi-room sound system and many other high-end touches. We enjoyed evenings on the back patio taking in the view of Santa Barbara and the mountains beyond. The front courtyard, with its garden and fountain, was peaceful and the perfect spot for our morning coffee. The location felt like a secluded retreat and was just what we needed for a relaxing vacation. Mark and Jane went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even providing a lovely gift basket upon our arrival. We loved staying here, and hope to return.

Perfect in so many ways

  • 5 of 5

Mark's hilltop Adobe was the most ideal choice for our stay in beautiful Santa Barbara. It was nothing short of perfect in terms of location, setting, views, gorgeous decor and comforts that were more than we could have expected. Mark was a fabulous host, meeting us on arrival and providing us with a tour of the home and giving us welcomed tips about the area and 'spots' to visit. Our only disappointment is we could not stay longer. If you are planning on staying in Santa Barbara this is the place to stay. We loved it.

Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I stayed in Mark's magical hilltop Adobe for a week. The ambiance is beyond charming and the home is stocked with everything-a collection of engaging and diverse books, essential beach chairs, kitchen supplies to rival William-Sonoma, snugly-soft blankets and more.

I still can't decide if I prefer watching the hummingbirds frequent the fountain from the lounger in the front, or if I prefer the spectacular elevated views of Santa Barbara from the back.

To top it off, Mark left a gift basket filled w/wine, cheese, crackers, chocolate, and nuts. If I could rate this home higher than five stars, I would do it. It was fabulous. A few times I texted Mark with questions, and he was quick to respond and extremely helpful.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. This is the rental to choose when staying in Santa Barbara!

Pure Enchantment!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment my husband and I entered through the lovely mesquite gates, we had the feeling that we were transported to another world... a magical hideaway. The sounds of the courtyard fountain and soft music playing throughout the house were so welcoming. And the mountain views were mesmerizing.

Although the home is exquisitely detailed and furnished, our first reaction was to kick off our shoes and settle in. We loved the comfy furniture, the well appointed kitchen, the extensive collection of books. The only problem we had was leaving our hideaway for our daily outings... but what a wonderful welcome we felt upon each return!

Speaking of returning, that's just what we plan to do. Mark, thank you for creating our perfect enchanted getaway spot!

Wonderful House in Santa Barbara

  • 5 of 5

A charming, spacious home that was perfect for the four of us. From Mark's welcome basket, to the privacy, to the unique setting designed for relaxing, it was all you could ask for in a place to enjoy Santa Barbara. Wish I lived here rather than just a too short visit. Thanks Mark.
