The owners thought of everything and were very easy to contact when needed. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.
Well appointed condo at a great price.
Very nice, clean rental unit. It had everything we needed. The location was great for day trips to Acadia, Bucksport and Deer Isle. Nice and quiet. We would recommend this condo. Thank you!!
Cozy and perfect
Location was beautiful and we felt like we were secluded but yet close enough to the activities we were in Maine for. Would definitely stay again!
Peaceful and Cozy Retreat
We stayed at The Cove for our first wedding anniversary celebration and found it to be the perfect, cozy spot. The condo was well-equipped with anything we needed--towels, kitchen supplies, wifi, etc. The ceilings are definitely sloped, so watch your head! But, other than that, it was a great place for the two of us; clean and cozy. We thought it was extra nice that the owners meet you upon arrival and provide you with recommendations as well as the use of their 2 kayaks, which we really enjoyed taking out on Toddy Pond. The dock is shared and there is a neighbor pretty close by, which we didn't realize, but it wasn't too much of a problem. Acadia National Park was only about an hour away which worked out nicely if you wanted to hike, but didn't want to stay in the bustling city of Bar Harbor. There are a lot of other small towns nearby for grocery shopping as well as Fort Knox. Wonderful place, thank you again!
Wildlife and Woodland Charm
Len and Pam met me upon arrival and spent time giving me ideas of places to visit in the area. The condo was very clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and it slides out from the wall, which gives more floor space when not in use. It was a perfect little "tiny house." It's all one room, except for the bathroom, so best for one person or a couple that gets up around the same time. Other guests mentioned the sloping ceilings, which do take a little getting used to in the kitchen, but it also adds to the charm of it.
When I travel, I love seeing wildlife. There's a nice pathway down to the dock and I saw an eagle overhead, heard loons and bullfrogs, and every dawn and dusk, a muskrat swam by. I took my coffee down to the dock every morning and it was absolutely beautiful. I didn't come for swimming, but the bottom is muddy and there are a lot of big rocks. The water level was low when I was there, though, so it might be easier at other times of year. And there are other local places to go for swimming/boating. You do share the dock with another cottage. Bring bug repellent as you're on the edge of a marsh--which is beautiful and why I saw so much wildlife. The cottage is in a cove that opens up on beautiful Toddy Pond.
The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. It was a lovely few days in a beautiful place. Len and Pam are wonderful hosts.
We loved every minute of our time in Maine and at the condo. The condo is clean, well stocked, and in a perfect location. We loved hearing the bull frogs at night. The owners were very welcoming! We would definitely stay here again. Check out Schoodic Point if you're going to Acadia!
Must see is the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory in Bucksport associated with the historical Fort Knox State Park. For those interested in hiking, there is nearby Great Pond Mountain Wildlife Area Area. The area is also very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia national park. The nearby Big ChickenBarn is a mecca for antiques. Bucksport and Ellsworth , both nearby, have many fine restaurants. Maine is known for its seafood and there are many outdoor areas where lobsters are boiled in wood fired pots.
