Fun In The Sun! The name says it all! What are you looking for in your vacation home? Play time on the beach? Okay, that would be less than 100 yards from the front door by way of your deeded boardwalk beach access. Fishing in Little Lagoon? Okay, that is only 10 yards out the back door. Swimming? Try the pool to the back of the house. Quiet, peaceful relaxation? Try awakening in your bed looking out to the gulf, or sitting in your living room looking out on the peaceful Little Lagoon, or sitting on one of the decks watching beautiful sunsets over the unobstructed view of the water. This house has it all! Located 3.7 miles from the intersection of Hwy 59 on West Beach Blvd, you are close to the great restaurants and shopping but yet in a very quiet part of Gulf Shores.

This house has a view of the Gulf of Mexico from two of the bedrooms. One of these bedrooms has french doors leading out to a deck overlooking the swimming pool and a view of the gulf. There are also great views of Little Lagoon from the kitchen, dining area and living room on the first floor and from the third bedroom on the third floor. The greatest thing about this house is the location. It sits directly on Little Lagoon! You can sit in the grass in front of the house, in a chair under the house, or on either of the two decks on the 1st and 2nd levels and watch the boats go by, watch the various birds catching fish, or just enjoy looking at the water. Little Lagoon is a 10 mile long body of salt water where you can fish (spotted trout, red fish, flounder, croakers, stingrays and many other fish all call the lagoon home) and crab day and night. Of course, you can clean your fish at the fish cleaning station at the pier, which goes out into the lagoon. Have your own boat? Launch it using our boat ramp. The kids will also enjoy the shared swimming pool. This is not a condo but rather a townhouse. You only have one neighbor. Very hard to find a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse with a gulf view, sitting directly on Little Lagoon, with fishing in the lagoon and gulf, a swimming pool and in a quiet area of Gulf Shores!

This home features 3 bedrooms, all with queen size beds plus bunk beds (with a full sized mattress on the bottom) in the upstairs bedroom. There are also 3 full baths, each connected to a bedroom. Two bedrooms and two baths are upstairs and one has an incredible view of the lagoon and has sliding glass doors onto a large deck. The third bedroom and bath is downstairs and looks out over the swimming pool and to the gulf. It also opens onto a deck. There are tables and chairs on all of the decks. On the first floor are the kitchen, eating area, living room, and washer and dryer. Sliding doors take you from the living room onto a first floor deck overlooking the lagoon. The living room has ample sitting options, including a queen sleeper sofa. Note ... it probably goes without saying but sleeper sofas are best for kids ... not very comfortable for adults!!! The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need. Eating options include a glass table and chairs with a great lagoon view or pull a stool up to the bar separating the kitchen and living room. There is new a 42' high definition TV in the living room and 32' high definition TVs in each bedroom with Dish Network service. Plus, there are 3 DVD players and an Game Cube with games for the kids. Speaking of games, there are lots of games, books, puzzles and toys for everyone to enjoy. Finally, don't worry about your vehicle since you can park three small vehicles or two large vehicles under the house.

What else can we tell you? Did we mention the full size washer and dryer? Or that the living room and one bedroom have sliding glass doors onto decks overlooking the lagoon? Or that this is a very quiet location where you can really relax? Or that the house has a colorful beach decor? Or that you can sleep as many as 11 in the home? Or that there is wireless internet throughout the house? Come see for yourself. You will never want to leave as you will be having so much Fun In The Sun!

Is Fun In The Sun booked the week you need it? We have 3 other properties. If you want a stand alone house with an unobstructed view of the beach then check out The Southern Cross, vrbo number 257393. This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house on West Beach Blvd less than 50 yards from Fun In The Sun. This unit is perfect for those wanting a house with a great gulf view! If you want to be right on the gulf, then look at A Whale Of A View, vrbo number 398689. This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo (5D) at The Whaler on East Beach Blvd. This unit may have the best gulf views of any unit in all of Gulf Shores with gulf views from every room in the house! If you have a big family reunion, go to Sweet Dreams, vrbo number 291114. This is a very large house with 8 bedrooms, 5.5 baths and a very large, private pool on West Beach Blvd. This house actually sleeps 30 people!!

About The Owner

We are Mark and Janet Binkley. We lived in Starkville, MS and worked for Mississippi State University for almost 30 years before retiring and moving to Gulf Shores in 2015. We manage four properties in Gulf Shores as well as 168 mini storage units in Columbus, MS. Our son graduated from MSU and manages a Sherwin Williams store in MS. Our daughter also graduated from MSU and works for United Health Care in MS. When our kids headed off to college, we discovered that we enjoy being at the beach. After looking at literally hundreds of homes along the coasts of Alabama and Florida, we decided on this home in Gulf Shores. To us, it is the perfect spot, complete with the beach and gulf, fishing in the lagoon, shopping and great restaurants, and all in a quiet location. We would love for you to visit our home and have a great vacation!

What makes this house unique

We feel that Fun In The Sun is the perfect vacation home. When we stayed at the house, this was our typical day ... see if this works for you. First, I tend to be up at sunrise while my wife likes to sleep in. I walk less than 10 yards out the back door of the house to the pier on Little Lagoon. There I fish and enjoy watching both the sunrise over the water and the wildlife. Feeding the bait fish to the herons who stand patiently behind you as you fish is always fun. When my wife awakes, she walks across the street on the deeded beach access to enjoy a morning dip in the gulf and catch some rays. Later, we meet back at the house to have lunch while sitting on one of the three decks (two facing the lagoon, one facing the gulf) all of which have great water views. After lunch, we head to the pool at the back of the house for some swimming and relaxation. That evening, we leave the peace and quiet at our house and drive 3 miles into Gulf Shores to have seafood at any of the great restaurants or do a little shopping. Returning home, we take a moonlite walk on the beach looking for sea turtles and go to the lagoon to set the fishing poles out for the night in case a fish decides to have a midnight snack. We then sit on the deck and listen as the only noise is the water coming onshore. Talk about peaceful! To finish the day, we watch a favorite TV show or a DVD on the 42" HD TV in the living room or on the 32" HD TV in our bedroom. Sound like a perfect day? It is to us too!!! And when the kids joined us? Well, in addition to the fishing, swimming and playing on the beach and in the gulf, they can relax in their private rooms, each with 32" HD TVs and DVD players and one with a Game Cube, or play some of the games we have in the house for everyone to use. Oh, and if you just have to get on your computer to check email or that dreaded facebook account, then you can use the wireless high speed connection anywhere in the house or on the decks.

I had a great time! The house is in a friendly community. Lagoon views and access to the pier were highlights. The pool was a nice amenity after a long day at the beach. Plenty of space in the house. All rooms have their own bathroom and tv. Couldn't ask for a better property owner, as he sent a welcome email/text to welcome us to his property. Even though we had no problems, it was good to know he was available. Would stay there again.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Great house, great location, and Mark is a great host. Our two grandkids were never bored with the lagoon on the back steps, the pool and of course the gulf just across the boardwalk. The house was clean and in good condition. We ate most meals in and the kitchen made it easy to feed a six including a 10 and 5 year old.

We are already thinking about plans for next year. Thanks Mark!

Great location, plenty of room, and quiet neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

First off you can't get a better location than "Fun in the Sun"! Literally 20 feet from the beach and dock on Little Lagoon it is your own private oasis! We had 2 families with a total of 9 people staying all over the age of 12 and we had plenty of room never felt cramped or claustrophobic the outside living area's make that impossible. There are 3 decks plus a patio underneath in front of the carport. The ocean is just a quick 2 block walk away. Beach is very clean and was never overly crowed. Great place to find some crabs or turtles at night or shells in the day. The dock on the Lagoon was perfect for the 5 kids to go fishing every evening after super. It was well lit and they were able to fish until bedtime. They caught several and even feed the local Blue Heron named Lucky some fish.

We spent one week here and rented kayaks ($115 each for a week rental), brought fishing equipment and our beach paraphernalia and never got bored. There is a storage area that people have left many beach chairs, boogey boards, sand pails, blow up floatation devices, charcoal and more. This was an added bonus a treasure room to be sure! We only left the house to grocery shop and go to Mobile one day. Each night around 530 the ice cream man showed up and the kids went wild!

One thing that was problematic for our family of 9 is that they only give you 10 towels total when the town house is suppose to sleep 11 also only 1 wash cloth and one dish towel. We were forced to nightly wash towels as everyone needed to wash off the salt, sand or chlorine after spending the day playing in the sun. I would also caution while the place is nice it isn't perfect. We found a number of pans that had been left with scorched on food and the pan selection is not the greatest for cooking.

The place wasn't the cleanest and could have used a good "spring cleaning. The fan had a tremendous amount of dust hanging from it, the wall coming down the stairs looked like every person who'd walked down it had put there finger prints on it over the past several years, and most of the games and puzzles were missing several pieces making it impossible to play.

Oh and one last note beware the two bedrooms in the front, the remotes work both upstairs and downstairs TV. So you never know what channel your going to watch next if both people are changing channels. Thought there was a ghost on the house the first two nights.

We'll be back again someday!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I always encourage individuals thinking of renting (whether it is one of my properties or another property) to take time to read the reviews. And thanks for the positive comments! I want to address each of the points made just so future guests in our properties will know what to expect. The last thing we want is for someone to be disappointed. 1) The number of towels/wash clothes/dish towels. We have 4 properties in Gulf Shores and we use a different cleaning company for each property. All 4 companies provide the exact number of towels/wash clothes that the unit sleeps. In this case, there should have been 11 towels and 11 wash clothes. I do not know of any cleaner in Gulf Shores that will provide more towels than the unit will sleep. 2) Pans with scorched on food. I hate to hear this. The instructions we leave for checkout is to put all of the dirty dishes into the dishwasher and turn it on so they will be clean when the cleaning crew arrives. In this case, either a previous guest put a non-clean pan back in the cabinet or the cleaner didn't check the pans when they put them up. In either case, I'm sorry that this happened. 3) Needed a "spring cleaning". Most homeowners in Gulf Shores do a "deep clean" in late fall. We also do one in April, after spring break but before the summer season. If a guest arrives in July, then the property has been rented non-stop for at least 10 weeks. Cleaners have limited time and do the best they can between check-in and checkout but there may be an issue such as dust on a ceiling fan or finger prints on a wall. 4) Games and puzzles missing pieces ... same comment as before. After 10 weeks, there will be some missing pieces, unfortunately! 5) TVs. This one puzzled me so I went yesterday to check. There was a switch on the Dish Receiver that had been flipped. It was back working correctly in about 1 minute. We try to make sure our guests are completely happy with our properties. We email everyone a long word document before arrival with information on our property and Gulf Shores. We tell our guests to contact us if there are any issues while at our property. We even contact our guests the day after they arrive to make sure everything is okay. Our guests know they can reach us by email/text/phone at anytime. If you stay in one of our properties and encounter a problem, please contact us and we will do everything to help!!!
