Recent Review

About the Owner

West Seattle has been our home for about 30 years. We bought this house in 2005 and spent several years doing a 'down to the studs' remodel which added a self-contained apartment on the garden level for family, friends and guests. We live upstairs.

We enjoy travel, meeting travelers and sharing our love for this area. Now that we are empty-nesters, we are ready to offer the apartment and to extend Northwest hospitality to our visitors.

We had the best time ever! I have been to many places around the world and this is one of the best I have ever stayed. We'll be back sometime next year, so take care & keep up the good work here.

Wonderful and well appointed 1BR close to Alki Beach and DT Seattle.

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed a week stay at this property. Beautiful and safe neighborhood. Just outside busy DT and a great treat at the end of the day. Walk 0.7 miles downhill to Alki Beach and enjoy the beach, unique restaurants and volleyball from pickup to seriously competitive games in the afternoon. (Consider lyft or uber for the way back up). Short trip downtown to the sights and tours. City Pass is ok. I'd rather have done more small group tours - read the reviews as not all guides go beyond a seemingly city wide Seattle ad camaign.Take a Pike Place Market morning food tour early on to find your favorites, you won't regret it. Use Google maps.

Alki-Sound, the perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We found Alki-Sound to be absolutely perfect for us. Just a short walking distance to our family's home. For those who love to do some walking, you can walk to Alaska Junction or Admiral and California Ave for all sorts of dining and shopping. The property had everything we needed, and everything was in great condition. Quiet, with great views. I would love to stay there again if the opportunity comes up on their calendar of openings.

A True Find

  • 5 of 5

This review comes from two native Seattleites (and long-time West Seattleites) fortunate enough to stay at Alki-Soundview during a 5+ week remodel project. In short, this spacious apartment met and far exceeded our expectations. It’s warm, private, welcoming and beautiful (without being stuffy), and housed in a quiet and lovely neighborhood with spectacular sound and mountain views. A stone’s drive away from Met Market, Safeway and other Admiral District/WS Junction shops and restaurants and the perfect walk (or less than 5-minute drive) to Alki Beach and all its wonder. Also easy access to downtown attractions by car, bus or water taxi. One regret is that we worked through our stay and not enough time for fun -and- a major, self-directed criticism for not taking Kathryn and John up on their kind offer to extend our stay (assuming the project was at completion; it wasn’t, the apartment was quickly booked and we regretfully moved on to “Plan B”). Lesson learned, and highest recommendation for Alki-Soundview.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

All of our family member love this place! Kathryn and John maintain this apartment the same as they live everyday. There are so many advantages choosing this place other than 4/5 star hotel/resort...... I post the experience on our family Facebook and there are many friends family really interest in this lovely place on their future Seattle vacation.

Beautiful!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a place where you can truly get away beautiful sceneries and pure tranquility. This is truly a home away from home. John and Kathryn are very kind and accommodating. I cannot wait to get back on my next trip. This will definitely be the first place I look to see if it is available.

Amenities

From the Owner

This is a large, private, tastefully furnished and decorated view apartment in a great location. We are a 10-12 minute walk from the action at Alki Beach. In the peak summer months it's great to be part of the action, but it's also important to be able to get away from it. We are a few blocks from two different bus lines and a free shuttle to the Water Taxi that travels across Elliott Bay to downtown Seattle. Whether you travel downtown by bus, water or car (about 10 minutes), there is plenty to do once you get there.
