About Judsen Gundersen

My name is Judd Gundersen and I own this cabin with my wife Christine, however for the time being my brother Timothy Gundersen will be handling the affairs of the cabin in order to provide the best service possible! Christine originally purchased this cabin while we were first dating in 2007. Today, we are married and have a 4 year old son.

After purchasing the cabin our first order of business was to make the yard dog friendly. Our three dogs now enjoy the fenced backyard as well as the many dog friendly activities that the area has to offer.

We try to spend as much time as possible in Big Bear. We usually find ourselves spending more time during the summer at the cabin to escape the heat of Las Vegas, our current home.

While at the cabin we enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, riding motorcycles and ATVs and dining at the many great restaurants in the area.

Judsen Gundersen purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Judsen Gundersen chose Big Bear Lake

Living in Las Vegas made Christine miss the green landscape of the east coast. She decided to look for property in Big Bear because it has something to offer during all four seasons.

What makes this cabin unique

We looked at many cabins in Big Bear but were absolutely sold on this one. We loved the sunken fireplace, the recessed lot, the close proximity to Snow Summit and the available trailer parking during the summer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Patrick & Brett (the girl (:), Warren (Bulldog), Charlie (mutt) would like to thank you for having us stay at your little BB cottage. Pat did the triathlon on Friday and I was able to walk the dogs down to watch him come in! We took the dogs to the lake to swim (Warren absolutely loves the H20, with his life vest on of course! HA. We BBQ'D and read our books on the couch one day (love the couch, so comfy!) We ate dinner at Haciendas which we were also able to walk to, loved it! The best overall part for me was when I was sitting on the patio w/ the dogs (Pat @ grocery store) and we saw a HUGE beautiful wolf/coyote right up by the railing which the dogs scared off, a bittersweet moment for me. It was grey & white with the most beautiful unsettling eyes. The guy at the liquor store down the way said they have been known to take dogs off the leashes! Yikes! Thanks again for a wonderful getaway, we will be back! Love, Brett & Patrick

P.S. We had to move the big bear mat from the couch because Charlie has a toy version just like it but mini and I didn't want y'all to come home to the bear w a missing nose!

Great Mountain Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

This 2 bedroom, 1 Bath, two story cabin is one block from Snow Summit ski area. It is clean and cute and well appointed. There is a 5 foot fenced in and secure back yard for your pet. Also a doggy door. The jacuzzi is great and well maintained. There is lots of outdoor decking and a BBQ. WIFI and lots of entertainment media. Very comfortable. We wish there had been an upstairs bathroom. But that is us.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We had a stunning five days to enjoy the cabin. It was clean, extremely comfortable, and very quiet. The hot tub was a nice break after hard days on the trail. The close proximity to Snow Summit made it perfect for us. Couldn't have been better!

Perfect family getaway !

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property last minute and were blown away by how AMAZING it was! This was our first family trip with our dog, so the only requirement we had was that the place have a fenced yard. This home had that plus a whole lot more! First, it sits on a quiet cul-de-sac and is close to everything, yet secluded enough to feel like you are away from it all. Everything was clean and in working order. The kitchen has everything you need and a full size fridge. The shower has plenty of hot water, and the bathroom was well stocked with towels and complementary toiletries. The deck has a nice table and chairs--we ate dinner out there every night. There is an AC upstairs for warm days and plenty of extra blankets in the coffee table chest for cold nights. We used the fireplace to make smores- my son especially loved the sunken fireplace pit in the corner of the front room. Our dog loved the doggie door and I felt completely safe letting him go in and out to the fenced backyard. We used the hot tub multiple times - it is VERY clean and HOT! Extremely relaxing. We lucked out in that none of the surrounding cabins were occupied during our stay. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the tv (it's a beautiful new fancy tv), so I texted Judd. He responded immediately and within 10 minutes there was a friend of his knocking on our door to help us out! I was so impressed - Judd went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He even offered to let us check out late so my son and husband could get one more fishing trip in! I've rented several times from HomeAway and have always had a positive experience, but this one was the BEST because of Judd. If you are renting in Big Bear, I highly recommend you stay at this property. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED !!!

Perfect weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect stay this Memorial weekend. The cabin was clean and very charming. Made good use of the fireplace and spa. The fenced in backyard was perfect for our two dogs. One of the only rental cabins that have a space for your trailer. Which was very convenient for us. It looks like the bathroom has been remodeled recently. Very nice!

I read in other postings that the owner is very responsive to your inquiries while staying at the cabin. We found that to be true also. The owner is very accommodating and is quick on his responses. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you for letting us use your cabin in the woods!
