About the Owner

My name is Judd Gundersen and I own this cabin with my wife Christine. Christine originally purchased this cabin while we were first dating in 2007. Today, we are married and have a 3 year old son.

After purchasing the cabin our first order of business was to make the yard dog friendly. Our three dogs now enjoy the fenced backyard as well as the many dog friendly activities that the area has to offer.

We try to spend as much time as possible in Big Bear. We usually find ourselves spending more time during the summer at the cabin to escape the heat of Las Vegas, our current home.

While at the cabin we enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, riding motorcycles and ATVs and dining at the many great restaurants in the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Patrick & Brett (the girl (:), Warren (Bulldog), Charlie (mutt) would like to thank you for having us stay at your little BB cottage. Pat did the triathlon on Friday and I was able to walk the dogs down to watch him come in! We took the dogs to the lake to swim (Warren absolutely loves the H20, with his life vest on of course! HA. We BBQ'D and read our books on the couch one day (love the couch, so comfy!) We ate dinner at Haciendas which we were also able to walk to, loved it! The best overall part for me was when I was sitting on the patio w/ the dogs (Pat @ grocery store) and we saw a HUGE beautiful wolf/coyote right up by the railing which the dogs scared off, a bittersweet moment for me. It was grey & white with the most beautiful unsettling eyes. The guy at the liquor store down the way said they have been known to take dogs off the leashes! Yikes! Thanks again for a wonderful getaway, we will be back! Love, Brett & Patrick

P.S. We had to move the big bear mat from the couch because Charlie has a toy version just like it but mini and I didn't want y'all to come home to the bear w a missing nose!

Very nice dog-friendly cabin! We will stay again!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Big Bear for the Village Wine Walk and Octoberfest in late September. We took our 2 dogs, so finding a dog friendly place was very important for us. The property is very close to the ski lifts; maybe a 5 minute walk, so it would be great during the winter for ski lovers. It's a cozy, clean (you would never know that other peoples pets were there) cabin with all the amenities you can think of; large sofa and 2 recliner chairs and a sunken fireplace that is very inviting. The kitchen is a nice size with plenty of pots, pans and dishes. There are plenty of restaurants around the area as well if you choose to eat out. The downstairs TV is super nice! There is a small TV upstairs, but I did not watch it so I can't rate it. Beds are very comfortable with plenty of blankets if you need them. The second bedroom is a loft, but there are very heavy blackout type curtains that will block the light and some of the sounds from downstairs. There is a nice fully fenced backyard for your dogs to roam around and a doggie door for them to go in/out! They even have extra dog food bowls and leashes if you forget them! There is a spa that I did not use, but looked at and it was very clean and even heated and ready to go! Only drawback is that there is only one bathroom downstairs, so you have to go downstairs to use it during the night. I will stay at this cabin again and highly recommend it to others, especially if you have a dog that travels with you.

Best Birthday EVER

  • 5 of 5

Late review!! We went to this cabin for my birthday in April 2015 (not august, but the calendar won't let me go that far back). Just a small group of about 5, I was looking for something calm and quiet out in the woods with my closest friends, and this was PERFECT. Seriously, it was the best birthday of my life. We had tons of fun just relaxing around the fire, soaking in the hot tub, and hiking on the nearby trails during the day. It was really an unexpected bonding experience for all of us. We are looking to repeat the trip in the future, and we just hope that this perfect cabin is available again!!

SO cute & charming - Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a little weekend getaway and fell in love with this place! Walking distance to the base of Snow Summit and the trolley that runs on weekends, making it the perfect place to just park the car and enjoy the weekend. Normally I'm not a fan of hot tubs, but this one was super clean so I couldn't resist. The dog loved the yard and all the hikes in the area. We will be renting this place again!!

Awesome cabin, the weather was getting hot and we need to cool the cabin off. The owner was extremely accomdating and had someone come over and install AC. Great time and we recommend it to anyone.

We had such a great time we took our 2year old grandson with us on vacation. And he enjoyed the jacuzzi and hanging out in the patio with his papa while he barbecued. He also loved the fireplace his first time seeing so many things. We would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends and families. Can't wait for our next vacation to Big Bear.

From the Owner

We looked at many cabins in Big Bear but were absolutely sold on this one. We loved the sunken fireplace, the recessed lot, the close proximity to Snow Summit and the available trailer parking during the summer.
