rotten business practices - great place!!
the property and location is terrific! but man - I've made several phone calls to both the property owner and Homeaway and still don't have my security deposit back - it's been over a month and is totally a bummer!
Excellent rental in a perfect location. Walking distance to everything and had an awesome few days exploring San Francisco. The apartment itself was perfect, nicely furnished and easy to find. Parking was a bit difficult but that is completely common in this area. Chris was responsive and easy to deal with. Will definitely book here again.
Perfect SF getaway.
This apt looks exactly as it is shown. Well appointed features, great location, top of the line all the way. Chris was quick to respond to our requests as we settled in and realized we needed more things for the month long stay. It was a quiet street, even with the walkers headed to Coit Tower, easy walk down to the great shops, restaurants, and Washington Square. Could not have picked a better location and host. The sofa bed isn't the best, but within 24 hrs, we had a very nice inflatable bed waiting at the door. Well worth the money to stay here. See you soon Chris!

My wife and I was celebrating our 10th anniversary with our 2 year old son in San Francisco and wanted to find a place for our son to be comfortable. From our initial search and communication with the property owner, Chris, we were told the property was not available. We proceeded to book a hotel room. A week later, received an email from Chris saying that the property was available. We immediately booked the property and cancelled our reservation for the hotel room. 1 week prior to our arrival in SF, while we were already on our travels, I received a message from Chris, cancelling our reservation due to "a long term tenant decided to extend their lease". He offered to provide us a different unit, but gave us no information on the new units condition or location. In addition, we would have to leave a day early and still would need to find a room for one night somewhere else. We requested our full refund.
We were fortunate and was able to find accommodations near the area we had wanted to be in SF. However, the price for last minute rooms were extremely high in SF - we ended up having to pay twice the rate of the room that we originally booked. To make matters worse, the rooms we ended booking were the typical hotel rooms and did not have the kitchen/microwave/sink amenities of the original booked room. It was a challenge to keep our son's food, etc. available, but we managed.
Needless to say, customer service from VRBO/home away and property owner (Chris) was nonexistent. There were no cancellation terms for the owner. If you and your love ones are predisposed to masochism, then book this property. If for some reason you unfortunately have decided to book with this owner, have a backup plan available.
Vacation planning nightmare!
Several weeks prior to our departure, I had secured rental #3567478 and paid in advance the full amount due including property damage protection. The afternoon of the day before our departure I received an email message from the owner of the property (Chris) cancelling our reservation. Their excuse was a long term tenant decided to extend their lease. My experience with rental property is you have to give adequate advance notice whether you are renewing or cancelling your lease and the owner should have known this prior to me finalizing the arrangements. If you are the owner of a rental property and not 100% sure whether it is going to be available or not, then they should have never placed it out on VRBO/HomeAway as available, nor should they have accepted my reservation request/payment in full. The owner also notified me that I would receive a full refund, which I did. However, if I would have been the one who cancelled I would not have received my full deposit back (I believe I would have only received 50% back). Therefore, when the owner cancels last minute they should be expected to pay back the full refund plus an additional amount for the cancellation. There were no cancellation terms for the owner. So now I have flights purchased, tickets to shows/events, overall vacation plans coordinated and car rental reservation and no where to stay the day before I am suppose to leave. When I notified VRBO/HomeAway and asked them for their assistance with finding a last minute alternative, their customer service was useless. I say this because the units we found either had lousy to no response times, required a 24 hour time frame to accept or decline your reservation request, were not within the similar area we were originally suppose to stay and were significantly more expensive. The customer service rep assisting me did not fully understand my dilemma. They did attempt to provide me with direct contact phone numbers to talk to the owners directly, but not one of the numbers provided me got me in touch with anyone, not even the original owner we had a reservation with. Now that I know that this property owner (Chris) can cancel up to the last minute and not be obligated to pay cancellation fees, but those who do make reservations must adhere to cancellation rules, I would not recommend this property to others. Chris was very unprofessional and unsympathetic to the situation they placed me in and was an overall disappointment.

“I fell in love with the neighborhood years ago. This apartment is a stones throw away from amazing restaurants, nightlife, and 360 - breathtaking city views at Coi Tower! You're 5 minutes from almost everything you could want to do in San Francisco. Safe at night. And I love the live Music every night at Grant street (two blocks away). But luckily, it IS two blocks away, because this one bedroom is so quiet compared to most other SF units I've lived in.”

“Beautifully remodeled, radiant floor heating, kitchen bult for entertaining, surround sound throughout, jetted spa tub and rain shower. In SF, ALL the adorable Edwardians are amazing, but NONE have been updated (almost none :) or remodeled to the level THIS building has. The radient floor heating allows you to enjoy the beautiful fog, from the warmth inside our unit. Also, our water heater units allow you to take hot showers as long as you want (also not a luxury you usually get to enjoy in an older Edwardian building). The Airplay is great to in the morning when getting ready for work (or in your case - vacation:) I love this unit because you get to enjoy Famous San Francisco Edwardian home, with all the new amenities and technologies of today :)”
