“a neighborhood like north beach is a rare thing. It manages to be a perennial hit with tourists as well as remain beloved by san franciscans. It is best known as “little italy” and of all the neighborhoods in san francisco, north beach feels most like new york. The bustling sidewalls filled with tables of diners chowing down on pizza and fried calamari, the small, quirky specialty shops, and the plethora of bakeries, delis and old fashioned bars combine in a vibrant, changing neighborhood.” sf.- chronicle.

“north beach is san francisco’s best loved neighborhood. Within its border are all things that made the city famous – food, literature, cable cars, music, movies, funky bars, good coffee, rollercoaster streets, great views and bohemian life.” times – uk
I fell in love with the neighborhood years ago. This apartment is a stones throw away from amazing restaurants, nightlife, and 360 - breathtaking city views at Coi Tower! You're 5 minutes from almost everything you could want to do in San Francisco. Safe at night. And I love the live Music every night at Grant street (two blocks away). But luckily, it IS two blocks away, because this one bedroom is so quiet compared to most other SF units I've lived in.
Beautifully remodeled, radiant floor heating, kitchen bult for entertaining, surround sound throughout, jetted spa tub and rain shower. In SF, ALL the adorable Edwardians are amazing, but NONE have been updated (almost none :) or remodeled to the level THIS building has. The radient floor heating allows you to enjoy the beautiful fog, from the warmth inside our unit. Also, our water heater units allow you to take hot showers as long as you want (also not a luxury you usually get to enjoy in an older Edwardian building). The Airplay is great to in the morning when getting ready for work (or in your case - vacation:) I love this unit because you get to enjoy Famous San Francisco Edwardian home, with all the new amenities and technologies of today :)
I have never been able to use/trust VRBO again due to this rental experience. It is a scam and I believe all the good reviews are either her friends or family members. Issues abounded:
- checked into the first unit which was absolutely filthy. The toilet still had the feces from the prior use, the sink had dirty dishes and the place was just covered in dirt. Called Eli and she apologized and told us how to get into a different unit across the hall. Same thing - pure filth. The linen was very dirty, underneath the sofa bed was filled with trash. We opened a closet and it was just scary, the refrigerator had open beer bottles and was filled with grime. We opened the dishwasher and it had dirty dishes that were molding. At this point, the children really believed we were in danger and started crying. We left immediately even though it was 11pm at night and had to drive an hour to find a hotel. I called Eli and she promised a refund saying her cleaning staff must have skipped out since she was out of town. 2 years later, I still have not received my promised refund. I can certainly share my text exchanges with the renter. Her response was that there was nothing I could do to get my money back. VRBO tried to encourage her to refund my money and she still refuses. The pictures look good but I can assure you it is a scam. She probably will also not tell you that there is no parking at all for the unit. Not even on the street.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco staying in this home with our 2 kids. While it may have been a little small for our family it worked out very well for us. It would be perfect for a couple! the bed was super comfortable. The apartment is located in a quiet building and neighborhood in North Beach, within easy walking distance of lots of activities, great restaurants and easy access to public transportation. There are a couple of good playgrounds about one block away for those traveling with younger kids; one is right next to a public swimming pool which looked quite nice but given our timing we did not get to use it. There are small local bakeries, coffee shops and bodegas but the grocery store about 6-7 blocks away. We parked our car for the 4 days and never used it walking everywhere. Coit tower is a short, steep walk away but a must to go see! The owners were easy to work with and very responsive.
I've been to many VRBO locations and I have to say that this one is now on the top of my list. Clean, easy to access, very good location and a comfortable bed. Chris was responsive when I had questions and the inside looks exactly like the photos.
If you are looking for a little place like home away from home, this definitely fits the bill.
the property and location is terrific! but man - I've made several phone calls to both the property owner and Homeaway and still don't have my security deposit back - it's been over a month and is totally a bummer!
Excellent rental in a perfect location. Walking distance to everything and had an awesome few days exploring San Francisco. The apartment itself was perfect, nicely furnished and easy to find. Parking was a bit difficult but that is completely common in this area. Chris was responsive and easy to deal with. Will definitely book here again.
